gta online is unplayable

I'm not complaining about heists or actual gameplay. For some reason when I go online no cars spawn anywhere apart from PV no NPCs spaawn most lobby's I'm in are empty. Its unplayable its just a ghost city. Its fine in so I bought a new hardrive my internet is fine for every other game so I don't know what to do

Yeah, because there's nothing to do apart from free mode so obviously this game is unplayable. I suppose I might as well sell this game now!

Why did you buy a new hard drive?

 

I've had this before, but it's come right the next time I join a session. It's possible there is still some issue with your internet/router - this game seems to be very picky when the tinyiest thing goes wrong with the network (it's pretty bad actually). For me the latest patch has helped removed some of my network annoyances, but created a couple of new ones.

 

Most of the time for me it works fine, with the occasional network error when joining a job, but I was getting pretty grumpy in the weekend - at one stage I had to keep going GTAO->Timed out->GTAV->GTAO->Timed Out->Back to GTAV again and again. Walked away, did something else, 30 minutes later hoped back on and it was fine. I think it'd be a lot more tolerable if it said "Servers are busy right now, try again in 10 seconds...." rather than looping me back to GTAV each time - frustrating.

 

Crap to try - since you have nothing to lose - enable or disable uPNP on the router - see if it makes a difference (it did for me - but put it back if it does not). Reboot the router (sounds silly but many models can get screwy after being left on for long periods of time). Try a wired connection as opposed to wireless. Contact Rockstar Support and wait for next patch and/or try again later.

Rock star said it was my hardrive and like a idiot I listened . I love gta but its unplayable this has been going on for weeks i all just wait for next gen

Good lord, at least post a reason why you want it locked? You just come off as an overly entitled brat whining about a thread you don't like.

As for the OP, that sucks dude. Can't say I'm having the same problem, things were fine for me when I was on earlier. Only thing I notice since the update is the frame rate has dropped a good amount. I haven't froze since the update but apparently it sacrificed frame rate. That and the roads just clear out so much more often than they used to. I'll drive through half the city without seeing a single NPC vehicle.

 

Also, is it just me lately or have the NPC drivers gotten more reckless? More and more random turns, they drive very erratic, they crash into me, hell even had one guy do a random as all hell U-turn during RR the other day as I was chasing the doc driver. What gives?

reinstall the game?

maybe your connection is too slow for online, i know for a fact that when someone laggs in GTAO, traffic and other things stop working

I haven't tried lately but have you tried entering a Solo session or Invite-Only session to see if it fixes the problem of no NPC cars spawning? I know it's still going to be a ghost town since both of those sessions are supposed to be empty (at first), but like I said, see if it fixes the no cars spawning problem for you.

Next gen will give you the exact same issues if it's network related.

Its fine on invite only. Butttt cod need for speed bf4 all give me no issues what so ever

Yea best advice I can give is to reintall and check if your system has a low priority on your router

Seems like Rockstar broke matchmaking... Used to work fine before...

 

Thinkin about selling this game now, so boring without anyone to play with.

It sounds like R* sacrificed NPC drivers for no/less feezes.

It could be the amount of players in a lobby.

See if it works with like, 2/3 people in a lobby.

If someone else in the lobby is running around fighting the police, the the system cannot spawn npc's for the other players, it just doesn't have enough memory. I spent half an hour wandering around fort zancudo one time with nothing spawning because there was tanks running riot in LS
