You could build a computer under $1000 that'd run GTA V. Not at the highest settings, obviously, but decent enough.

$5000 is a bit much just to run the game. $2000 could run the game at maximum settings, depending on your vendor of course.

@Above, A $1000 dollar computer can run the game at highest settings depending on your hardare selection and the game's optimization.

Also, wrong section. Go here. http://gtaforums.com/forum/304-pc/

No, it doesn't. That's a value that some pull out their ass to justify spending money on a console and make it seem that their own console isn't an inferior product.

It does not cost $5000 to play GTA V on PC.

If you know where to look and spend wisely you'll be spending way, way under $1000 or even $500 for a future proof machine. Don't purchase pre-built machines because companies just love squeezing cash out your pocket for bloatware and unnecessarily expensive computer parts.

My 4 year old machine can still run games at High and sometimes Ultra and that machine cost me well under £400 total for example. Even Max Payne 3 runs at Ultra 720p at 60fps on an AMD Phenom II X4 Black Edition 3.5Ghz processor and ATI HD Radeon 5700 1GB GPU both of which are ancient by today's standard CPU and GPU components.

Also if you want to know who exactly spends $5000 on computers are those who feel the need to entirely future-proof their machines, possibly so future proof they made not need to upgrade for the next 5 years or so.

It does not cost 5,000 to play any game on a PC..

None of the past 3 PCs I've built have been over 1200, and the cheapest I've built one for was 900.

If you get scared from the those highly exaggerated "recommended specs" publishers use, yes it is very easy to burn all your money on a computer. And you can bet the parts will be terrible, like a bad PSU from a shady manufacturer, a CPU from untrustworthy manufacturer with poor heat sink quality. And the most IMPORTANT, cooling systems that can't hold up for longer than 6 months. Motherboards could have leaky capacitors, or arrive to you DOA. You spend all that money on something that is designed to rape your wallet but will not pay for itself in the long run.

Don't get me started with overpriced GPUs and their bad OC schemes.

This doesn't mean high priced PC always means bad parts, but to the inexperienced with self building PCs or buying prebuilt PCs, you can run into some ripoff parts.

A tip with self building: If you don't need a monitor/keyboard/mouse, DVD/CD/etc drive, don't add them to the list, ya know, things that are easily swapped in and are already good for what you paid for. The OS(>_>) Motherboard, GPU and RAM takes up the brunt of the cost from my experience.

God no.. a $1000 pc today, if done well will last you at least 2-3 maybe 4 years before some parts will need upgrades.

Why are you listening to someone who plays on console not a PC in the first place? You can build a EXTREME solid system for 1000 bucks that is future proof, will last for years and will run any game at MAX settings on 1080p very smoothly including the upcoming GTAV.

Whoever said that needs a good slap. As I said earlier I haven't upgraded my PC in 4 years and that cost me well under about $450 and it still runs games very well in 720p.

You do not need to upgrade your PC every six months, at all. Perhaps, somewhere down the line, I'll upgrade my machine but right now it's fine as it is.

If you spend wisely you'll be making a great investment. If you need any help setting up a or purchasing a gaming PC, then there are a few here on this forum who would gladly help if you believe you have a budget. Or, you can post onto Reddit's r/BuildMeAPC subreddit with a budget and they'll supply you links to purchase parts.

5000$??? OP you're clearly wasting our time by twisting comments of so-called many console players and asking bullsh*t questions. No body in their f*cking right mind would suggest such stupid figures. Not even something to laugh at!!..

You guys are all insane. You can easily make a 500$ build and max the game out if you know where to buy the parts. BTW OP is an obvious troll.

Depends on what you gonna buy, you can invest in good CPU with OC capabilities when the time comes you can OC to higher values to get that extra performance boost when needed in unforeseen future.

+ 16 GB RAM, good mobo that will work stable with a room to expand for new CPUs in the next years, SSD for the OS and games - my predictions that it will give you a solid 5 years of performance, if you include CPU with OC then you can add a Free 1 (or 2) Year to the account.

Troll or not, here is a definitive answer for others as well who may be in corner and confused about their system that want to build from a scratch or upgrade.

@OP, you are making us PC gamers look like spoiled brats. Thanks for that, troll...

A f*cking $5000 for one PC to play GTAV? Are you out of your mind?? Who said you need to buy a $5000 PC??????

You can max out GTAV on a PC that's under $1000. It takes an i5-4690, GTX770 or a AMD 280X and 8GB.

I bought mine for just $1300, It has an i7-4770, GTX780 and 16GB RAM and it plays every game at max settings, 1080p and above 60FPS.

Trolls....Trolls everywhere.

My PC cost about 700 dollars 3 years, and it can play most "next gen" games up to medium settings, which is usually better than what they look like on PS4. (ACIV and Watch Dogs specifically)

So no, you would probably have to spend 1000 tops and that's just so you could max stuff out

Whoever said they spent 5 grand on their pc, clearly bought a 4k monitor.

And then realised the game isn't in 4k.

And for that price you will also be able start your own nuclear weapons program with the PC.

You can easily build a future proof gaming pc for $1000, a $5000 would be video editing territory, not video games.

Too many people don't consider the costs for buying games. Compare a PC keystore and a console game. Factor 2 or even more for every single game you buy. Great deal, considering I can build a rig that surpasses the PS4 easily for less than 1.4 times the price of it here in Europe.

If you don't believe me: I got a calculation on a PC I recently built for a friend, no wild guesses!
