You forgot about the PC version, which will have a custom soundtrack feature and a video editor, as well as modding best of all to add things that weren't in the game to begin with. Otherwise, I think I can agree with this. The next-gen version looks brilliant graphically, but I can't see many changes to the overall gameplay and features, unless it comes packaged with that supposed single-player DLC that Rockstar have planned.

Nice of you to make sweeping generalizations. I for one was not too concerned about countryside and I never cared for planes. I'm more bothered with decent side activities relating to crime, a great story, and a vibrant, immersive city. GTA V gave me none of that, so what else am I supposed to do ? Just be quiet and accept it, and not complain ? What's your point ?

Ask anyone who was here on the forum before and they'll say that the general feeling was that V had to have countryside, planes, blah blah blah. I was speaking of the general fanbase.

 

 

I'm not a major fan of IV either. Yeah I like IV a lot more than when I first played, as I discovered new things, but it's not my favorite. You gotta understand that not everybody always wanted the same things, you still cannot generalize bro. Many people like me just wanted more crime-focused stuff like gang wars, gang recruitment, drug-dealing, empire-building etc. Many others more wanted planes, jets, parachutes, jetpacks and all kinds of nice toys to play with in a big wide map. Others wanted stuff like tanks, rockets, and other heavy artillery. Some just wanted lots of detailed countryside with rich wildlife and scenery. It depends on what you wanted and how well Rockstar implemented it.

DLC will probably even have NG-exclusive features. Again, partially because of limitations, partially because of profit.

 

I should point out, peoples pain in this CG/NG stuff shouldn't be directed at R*, but rather those much huger and much more greedy corporations whose apparent duty it is to spit out a 'new line' of consoles every few years. All game companies play up to this, it's pretty much mandatory. Game industry economics is a crazy thing, involving a lot of sneaky moves.

 

Basically, name one major gaming company better than R* or stop whining

What are you expecting from it? A portal to Australia? better graphics, better fps, more populated world, better performance in general, a few new animals and NPCs is anything new, if anything. You must've been blind to not have noticed that lack of population, vegetation, higher texture quality, improved damage, improved AI, etc.

 

You sound like a prick saying that those were "a few minor details" added in. What 's be the point of using the power of CG, then? Like Silver_Wolf said in the last page, they weren't adding these special features just to make the game a little different, it was because they have a good opportunity on the hardware that it is run by. The higher texture quality, improved lighting, effects, physics, etc weren't possible on the LG, believe it or not, so why not use this chance to fulfill their original intentions?

 

If you really believe it's all about adding a "few minor things into" then you really don't know anything about the gaming industry, yet, you're just trying to get your cool to hide your ignorance in that post. I have no idea why the time developing the NG version would be years wasted, seeing how it's been wrked on for about three years.

The ten years old on this forum will never get it, and that's why we'll always have this problem. People will always expect too much, and they will not get enough. It'll happen with GTA VI too, just wait. They'll expect the best game to ever be released, they'll expect it to have a million cities and be twice the size of planet earth, they'll expect it to ship with a free wife and god knows what else.

 

I'm glad to see that some of us are being realistic though. GTA V on next gen/ pc will be the same game as it was last gen, but with very minor improvements. And you know what? There's nothing wrong with that, because it was a bloody great game to start off with.

 

Oh the irony... so you think your arguments get better by insulting other people stating that they are younger then they actually are just because they have a formed opinion based in facts and common sense against your pessimistic BS point of view based in nothing? When you say people are being realistic I say you and them are either blind or brain dead. And don't take this as an insult because I'll explain why. Far as we've seen the game is already WAY DIFFERENT, it's not the same game with better effects, you already saw a lot of NEW ELEMENTS that the LG didn't have... even if it comes as it is it's already different and keep in mind that you saw a very small fraction of the game itself. I bet the bottom of the ocean will be close to what AC IV BF was, why? well because they can do it and when they wrote in reviews about how beautiful the bottom of the ocean was with all those mysteries and things going on... they certainly weren't talking about the game they already released, the same applies to the previews that mentioned that there would be a lot of dog breeds in the game that the NPC's would have and you would see around... the game released that I saw didn't have that... although in that small teaser you already saw a new dog breed...

 

So let's see you saw the "same game" with a new breed of dogs, cats that didn't exist, at least 2 new sea creatures (as I said before everyone saw the hammerhead shark but I also see a new breed of fish, it seems like some Bluefin Tuna I could be wrong but it feats in physiognomy and location terms to the coast of L.A.), you've also seen vegetation that didn't exist in LG and without mentioning 2 cars where you can clearly see they no longer have a texture for HUD but a dynamic modeled 3D detailed HUD, you can also see that despite of existing the same number of trees that they are very different from each others not only in texture terms but also in model terms, which means different models and different textures thanks to Tessellation... so just for these tiny things you can clearly see the game is different, so how the hell can you or anyone say the only improvements are the visuals? An improvement in visuals in my dictionary are only in terms of aliasing, textures, shaders, resolution and nothing else... new models that imply new animations, new AI, new behavior, new interaction, new interactivity are not the same thing so only for the small fraction we've seen no one can say that the game won't be any different because only by themselves those things already make it different.

 

Now it all depends on how far they went with it, I know that Basketball, skate and even surf were considered to be activities for Franklin when the game was being developed but they didn't do it, roller blades too ... so if they really were forced to let those out because of LG limitations it's possible that they'll be in this version or released later as DLC or GTAO activities... but the thing is, they have room to improve and change a lot of things that they couldn't before, in fact after so much time of waiting they could release the game as GTA V 2.0 if they wanted because the release was almost a year ago and nothing stops them now from achieving what they initially wanted.

 

So if you have any good or in fact ANY argumentation that proves me wrong I'd love to "hear it". Because far as it goes I didn't read anything yet that proves or aims at a "just visual improvement" as most of the pessimists scream... it makes no sense and nothing points at it, not even common sense.

Read above and you'll get the answer for that, and if you're thinking that way maybe you're one of them? Unless you can actually answer by every player alive knowing that they'll buy it if it's the same thing, because I really doubt it that will be the case. Those that never played the game most likely will, those that already finished it and got disappointed and taking into account the huge list of titles coming in the next months might disagree with you.

 

As for the effort, that effort has started when the development of the LG consoles started, at least for the PC version that was ported to CG ... so it's not an extra effort it was planned like this since the very first day.

I'll be blunt here, people are setting themselves up for way too much hype with the next gen release. We've seen a few new animals in the trailer, and now everyone is expecting sh*t like gang wars, new mission strands, an entirely redone soundtrack and even f*cking jetpacks to eventuate from the next gen release.

 

But my personal opinion is we'll see nothing more than better graphics, better fps, more populated world, better performance in general, a few new animals and NPCs and whatever DLC Rockstar have given us since 17 September 2013.

 

Plus think about it, how many multi generation games recently have been released with significant ammounts of new content simply for the version on the newest console? Not too many, if any at all.

 

At the end of the day I can almost assure you that what you'll be getting Autum this year will be nothing more than a better performing version of the game we've got + a few minor details added in. And, hell, if I do end up being wrong you'll be more satisfied with something better than you expected than something worse than you expected.

I meant, at the time, that the cut side missions and activities, like drug dealing, were cut over bugs, and the content like skins and cars, were to save space. I wasn't claiming they'd be back, and I'm not claiming now that they wont be back. Because just like everybody else, I have no idea. All I can say is that as the game stands, from the trailer, even if it is just a graphical upgrade, I'll buy it. if we get anything else, then that's just extra.

Last time I check Rockstar is the developer. So, you think that graphical improvements are the only thing to be remade on the CG. Please elaborate, other then making bullsh*t claims. I believe Rockstar when they said that the game was coming to CG consoles, but maybe they're LYING. Again, that's not how works, they don't spend time making a game for the a certain platform for nearly three years, and then purposely cut it. But if you think they run like that, I wouldn't think you'd be hired to work at any game developing company.

 

When V was first announceD, they didn't give info on it straight away. Rockstar also would have mentioned moving dials, wouldn't they? Your making sh*t claims in no means of justifying them, but rather spreading sh*t and using them as "soul facts".
