I'm NOT expecting anything new from the NG version of V

Boy when V comes out for the PS4/XBOX1, and people see its pretty much the same game.... It is going to be laughable to see posts made on here. I expect Interiors/weapons/cars/clothes. as far as missions and the DLC, I'm expecting it all to be for GTAO since all of it has anyway.

I agree with this, howeverI'm kind of expecting R* to pull something out the bag to encourage more people to buy it on next gen, not many people will buy it if its just the same game

I think the most Rockstar's going to pull is releasing next-gen exclusive DLC, and even then it's more than likely going to be simply for Online.

 

Like it or hate it, Rockstar feels the future of GTA is Online. And since there's no clear window for the next installment, Rockstar need a way to keep it going without it dying alongside the PS3/360, and the only means to do that is with a PS4/One/PC release.

 

 

This. R* already tried more than one protagonist with V. I think that was more a test how it works, the player reactions, reviews, etc. But in fact I see that more as a preparation to leave the single player more and more and make GTA more or less a MMORPG (or however this is spelled). I expect that R* sees the future in exactly that. And if it s done on a right way it can bring a company a lot of money + huge addictions are possible which also generates more money (best example is WoW). So R* only has to develop one game and then just add content time by time. And some years later maybe a new IP, just for improving the graphics in general.

The other plus - only for R* of course - is that this will also reduce the pirate copies to a minimum as most of the game is more focussed on the online part. And that also brings more money.

Personally I am not such a big fan of online games, maybe also because I dont trust so much in their server or anyone else besides my harddrive. I mean if I want to play a game which is 10+ years old - no problem. But then something like that would not be possible anymore, because you always have to use their server. Aaand also slow internet connection. Anyway I think this will be the future of GTA. Of course not so extreme in the beginning, but it s coming closer and closer to that.

 

Ehm, no idea how I can drift that far apart. However, I also dont expect so much from the new version of V. R*, of course, announces much just cause they want to sell them, but besides what the OP already wrote I also think that some ppl will be disappointed again. Also the improved car damage model ... not so sure what I should think about that. I have never played V yet, but have seen some videos of the car damage. And my god ... it looks horrible. I have no clue why they even put that damage model in the real release of V before.

I liked nikos background and his character but the map was the most boring uncreative load of snore ever, Its all personal though. We all like different things. No planes, No Animals, No Country, No Mountains, No exploration of the sea and the thickest AI of all time. gta iv.

i'm not saying it IS a MMO right now but i think that's rockstars ultimate goal.

 

it's definitely a way for them to monetize GTA all year round. and THAT is exactly what they are trying to do with GTA online.

 

i say enjoy these free updates/patches while you can because sooner or later they will start charging for them.

 

i predict that they will end GTA as we know it (a game every 4-5 years). they will just release a base game for GTA Online then charge you for DLC/updates and they will definitely keep the shark card micro transactions.

I'm more bothered with decent side activities relating to crime, a great story, and a vibrant, immersive city. GTA V gave me none of that, so what else am I supposed to do ? Just remember fanboys: How long a "few weeks" was, the GameINFORMER interview, The baIT and switch strategy for Max PAyne 3, The complete lack of ambition for a gta story. The story was good til Trev f*cked that up w/ his (As lamar would say) Michael f*cked me attitude throughout the game. fewest missions since gta III, features that are gone for no appearant reason (car staying on, burger-shot cluckin bell, explosive shot gun shells, cheats activated by a # on your cell) F has no place anywhere accept to brake up "the couple" from arguing. This isn't even counting that cluster-f*ck that is gtao. And the worst thing they did was make people believe they were only making the game for Last gen. The only crime in this game is espionage, good for Metal Gear Solid, but not for what fans of gta want to do.

Seriously, did you even read what you wrote? You already know the game has animals LG didn't had, you already know the game have vegetation and a ton of details the LG didn't have and you say the only difference will be in graphic terms? So you think they just added a few cats walking in the walls, some fancy sharks" and grass to make it look different? They did that simply, because NOW THEY CAN, before they couldn't... all the extra polygons, all the extra animations, textures, effects, physics weren't possible, now they are and they won't be stupid for not using those capabilities other then better looking graphics.

 

Far as we've seen the game is already different, way different... look at IV PC there wasn't any difference and the graphics had better settings but that was it, V is an evolved version of what LG was, in fact LG was a fraction of what CG is. The reason why V felt like a NG game when it was released was because it was developed with NG in mind and was reduced to run and feat in LG hardware/ media.

 

Hardly the game will have a different story, but there will be plenty of differences and not only in animal species or visuals... both XBX1 and PS4 have Blu-Ray, do you expect them to sell that media with the same size as 2 or 3 LG DVD's and the rest empty?

 

Doesn't seem logic, specially when they've created this version from the ground... if they wanted the same crap with better looking textures they could have just ported it exactly as it is in NG and not include any extras, but they didn't, so the possibilities are unpredictable and in terms of logic makes more sense, then believing they aim to reach $600+ million by March of next year with just a refurbished version of the game...

what i would expect, or hope for, is a big next gen exclusive dlc.. where because of it being next gen, they can "justify" only making it for pc/ps4/xbox one.. having people go crazy and buy it all over again..

as already said, a lot of people are not going to be able see much point of paying for the game again if they already have it for last gen, lots of people, including me, are tired and bored of it at this point... and most people who like gta will already have gotten it a long time ago.. even a lot of those who said they would wait until next gen to buy it have already gotten tired of waiting and bought it..

soooo.. i think it would be a smart move to come up with some great dlc, perhaps not at launch, though it would certainly add to impact.. but a massive update that brings a lot of new content that previous gen could not handle would make a lot more people who already own it go out and buy it again..

The ten years old on this forum will never get it, and that's why we'll always have this problem. People will always expect too much, and they will not get enough. It'll happen with GTA VI too, just wait. They'll expect the best game to ever be released, they'll expect it to have a million cities and be twice the size of planet earth, they'll expect it to ship with a free wife and god knows what else.

 

I'm glad to see that some of us are being realistic though. GTA V on next gen/ pc will be the same game as it was last gen, but with very minor improvements. And you know what? There's nothing wrong with that, because it was a bloody great game to start off with.

My expectation is that Rockstar will not bring out any brand new next-gen only content; my hope is they will relax some of the limitations with the current-gen versions, such as allowing mission-based building interiors to be accessed during free roam.

To add what has been said by Silver_Wolf above to OP, who presupposed, as if its an open-and-shut case.

Initially it seems, but for me its not just a remastered version, considering that the game itself is not complete in all the best aspects as intended.

If OP really believes its all about just improvements and various other connected simple fixes and few additional qualities that only relate to make the game feel better, then its frustrating for any one to spend their money twice with no hope for anything BETTER!

Mind you that the game still remains open for quite a lot of possibilities, like the DLC, Heists, GTA O updates and several other stuff best known by Rockstar and we'll get to know when the time comes.

All these future possibilities will change the game significantly, and they might have kept a lot of things for just NG/PC versions only, since GTA O and SP are both going to benefit in shaping the game with more quality gameplay updates than on the old retiring hardware, its pure common sense here.

I'm willing to keep an open mind, and not ASSUME, however small it might be, the existence of ACTUAL possibilities on NG/PC game.

Ask anyone who was here on the forum before and they'll say that the general feeling was that V had to have countryside, planes, blah blah blah. I was speaking of the general fanbase.
