My 360 always gets full lobbies, however my PS3 gets empty ones. Same net which is odd.

Even if you're net is superior, there's still cases of people on here who suffer the same thing..maybe it's about time to think up some more "cool" responses.

I have this exact issue on PS3. I play in Free Aim and always join empty lobbies, however, if I switch to Assisted Aim, I can find a lobby full of people no problem... Matchmaking eh...

As mentioned above, I believe the matchmaking is broke. I play free aim and over the weekend I had (I think) 4 people at most in a session. However, I can jump from session to session and get a single other player many times, but it's always someone different. There's clearly a lot of people playing free aim, but they're all in individual sessions. I hope they fix this as it wasn't like this before.

Agreed. You don't go from tons of players to completely empty servers overnight, after a patch update. It's a R* issue, Free Aim is still good to go and plenty of people still use it.

This is an issue for Rockstar to fix - that advice won't make any difference. I have my PS3 in a DMZ (no need for NAT changes or port forwarding since it's "outside" the firewall), and I had this all weekend.

It's affected free aim badly. The only way to find a lobby with people in it is to join friends or crew. Time to do those things like messing around with the creator and friendly death matches, I think. R have needed to look at matchmaking for ages now. Hasn't been working properly since the start for me.

I live in a land far,far away with internet speed circa 2005 and im having no issues with empty lobbies...all my suggestions improved my connectivity.But as you suggest,it may be something R* part...just not on my end

Not sure if your been sarcastic or if you don't have a clue but it's the complete opposite. Yet to hear kids or be shot with an RPG at 6-feet away in Freeaim!!

 

It involves less brain power to use Autoaim hence why it's mostly filled with kids and sh*t shooters.

Rockstar has always had connection issues with their servers ever since they started doing online.

Free Aim here and have the odd issue with empty lobbies but finding a new session once sometimes twice gets me a almost full lobby...

 

I'd hazard a guess that its more about the sh*t matchmaking system that R* rolled out, its been broke since day 1!

The XBOX and PS3 handle lobbies differently. I think

 

From the Xbox side since i've never played on it. When the lobby is full when trying to join with a friend. Does it immediately tell you or does it try to load the game and then tell you the lobby is full?

Im having trouble staying in sessions and if join a session with many players they'll leave one after one until its me and like 5 ppl left. And sometimes I de-sync and get put in a session alone. My NAT type is type 2 and my ISP says everything is fine etc etc.

 

It sucks and I've kinda given up on playing and enjoying gta online to the fullest.

Seriously, I'd always find free aim games in Red Dead, even in 2013. If Rockstar gave the option from a main menu to go online and then select whether you'd like to join a normal or hardcore session, then more people would be in free aim.

 

That's a screw up on their part.
