GTA 5 Conspiracy: Rockstar Is Purposely Delaying Heists

I think about the heist where you had to park a getaway vehicle at a random location (in SP), and think about the same mission online. How would that work if you parked it, then got offline and came back later to finish the heist? To me it is easy to see how some aspects of heists would be a problem, if they are moving the full mechanic of heists online. Add in all the trouble in the beginning with character data loss, the recent UFO menagerie, and a host of other game glitches, I can see a lot if work needed for, it to all work right. The way I see it is the heists (if everything works as it should) will be a point of redemption for all the trouble that ha existed to this point. Because of this I can see them taking time. A "conspiracy" makes no sense, they stand to gain less from delaying more, rather than releasing them as soon as possible.

I think R* really intended to release heists months ago, but had to divert all their resources to plugging all the hacks and exploits. So think about that the next time you glitch a few gazillion dollars into your Maze Bank account.

Glitches don't delay content like heists for 2 reasons. R* is a large game developer with many departments, some fix glitches and bugs, and others create new content, they have nothing to do with each other. Also R* is able to release content like the business update and high life update, even when heists were announced long before. They even pushed heists back further just to release the hipster update even when heists were promised for spring.

 

R* must be purposefully delaying heists, whether it's to bring out more content to give people more options to drain them of their money before a new money making method which will probably become as overplayed as rooftop rumble will be released, or to just add more hype to current gen and pc.

Interesting video. I think some people are missing the point by saying, "OMG guys, go outside and do something! You're pathetic if the heist delays are ruining your life!"

It was never about that (at least to me). The heist delays aren't ruining my day or killing my mood or otherwise negatively impacting my life. I realize it's just a video game, and that there can be unexpected delays.

My complaint is that, at this point, the delay is excessive. This isn't an indie developer with a skeleton crew and very limited resources. This is a giant company, producing one of the biggest game franchises in history. If they're going to advertise something as being available at or around launch, then you (R*) are creating expectations. When people get annoyed/upset about the delay, it's not their fault...the feelings are motivated by you promising something that hasn't been implemented 8+ months later. R* had to have known the hype for this aspect of the game, so it's on them to staff appropriately and dedicate enough resources to resolve issues as they arise and release the updates within a reasonable amount of time.

If they do wait until the game is released for next-gen systems, that's a big slap in the face to people who bought the game on day 1 and have been patiently (or not-so patiently) waiting for heists.

I have. These sorts of delays aren't normally broadcast to the audience. And I will say again, they want to release it working, with no bugs. Imagine the sh*tstorm if it's released with bugs.

 

And I will also say again that people are going to be disappointed by the heists no matter what, as people seem to be expecting more than is possible. There's going to be very few heists. It's not like you'll be able to pick any store or bank and say 'we want to rob that, let's form a plan'.

 

The heists will be pretty much exactly like the ones in the SP mode, but probably in different locations.

 

 

Well, people being disappointed is going to happen, regardless of the situation. That said, some people are hyping heists because R* hasn't really clarified what to expect. I think they would have benefited from managing expectations. If the first wave of glitches had hit and R* was thinking, "oh crap, this is gonna set us back at least another month," updating the community w/some information would have been nice. With every update, we just get more of the same: "coming soon, guys!"

 

When you have to wait so long for a component of the game, it's only natural that people are going to start having lofty expectations. If the only info you release is, "it's gonna be awesome," then you have to expect the hype is going to grow and grow.

Heist are four mission playlists. Each mission is completed by entering a "instance"(blue/yellowcircle).They already had ALL the mechanics and renderings in sp, and you can enter a bank online already. They have the bags of money rendered in sp. And you can add textures to your character online already (show bulletproof vest). Companies come out with whole games in the time it takes them to do this.

Do you think Rockstar is delaying Heists closer to Next Gen release of GTA5 to make more money ?

 

I think they're delaying it so we absorb the Hipster update and buy cash cards to aquire cars.

Then a few weeks later (or maybe a month or two) slap us with Heists to keep us playing and promote the game.

Then release next gen after that, so we go and buy that for the better graphics.

 

Releasing at the same time to me would reduce next gen sales - because the existing customer base would be distracted by Heists on last gen. Watering down the hype.

 

I could be wrong, but I'd probably space next gen and heists by about a month.

If it meant that it was working correctly when it was released, yes, I would. I bought a PS4, it doesn't have some of the promised features yet. Can I live without them until they're released? Yes, because I have other stuff to do in the mean time.

 

And you've kind of stepped in your own sh*t here. Online was free. You didn't pay for it, nor any of the updates within it. You paid for V, which has also received free updates.

 

I would love to see the collective of arse-aching idiots on this forum do a better job.

 

Basically, what I'm saying is that if this is your main priority, if this is a big deal and that you can't distract yourself with other things, even, GASP, NON GAME THINGS, until it's released, then you need to grow up, man up and sort your f*cking life out.

Companies promising future features to a product are fine, but when they are advertised as part of the reason to buy that product, there comes a time when it stops being a reasonable wait and the company are beginning to take the piss.

 

You keep going back to the argument that the only alternative is it would be incomplete, but it's just a stawman and you're missing the point that it shouldn't take this long to complete it in the first place. How about upping the pace of work in order to finish it sooner?

 

Also, casting aspersions against the people who are unhappy (as if this is the only thing people care about) does not strengthen your argument and actually just makes you look like a bit of a dick.

I've been saying this sh*t for a long time now along with tons of others, heists have been polished and ready to go.

 

They're just not releasing them because they want cash card sales, not to mention they don't wanna unleash their big guns just yet, they'd rather the next-gen versions be just around the corner.

 

Those who claim the glitches and hacks were delaying things clearly know nothing about game development as content creation and fixing glitches are two completely different departments that are independent of one another, not to mention the manpower R* is capable of and the fact that they are LOADED with money to the point where they could easily bring in others to ease the workload on the rest.

 

I'm telling you straight up, they got us. They got us good. Shills will call it insane but I call it business. It's dirty business but at the end of the day, they already have what they want and they have enough people convinced there's nothing wrong with it so they can continue doing exactly what they've been doing. R* is officially the new EA. R.I.P. another developer that used to care about customer satisfaction over extra profits. (Key word being EXTRA profits, not just profits)

I think it's delayed cause it's going to be a combo pack of single-player and online DLC, why?

 

Because they're going to add the ability to rob those Fleeca Banks much in the way we can rob convenience stores.

 

Currently, even in the single-player while you can go inside the banks...there's nothing you can do but run around and look at the rendered fixtures. So because they're having to implement functionality not only for online, but single player...this is why it's taking so long.

I completely disagree. I think the reason why they are delaying the heists is because they are trying their best to make them more in depth and have them polished and they want to add it to PC and Next Gen. But since there are so many hackers that are causing exploits and glitches Rockstar is having a hard time trying to bring out the heists due do some many things going on. Disagree with me all you want but thats what I think whats been happening with them.

It's not a conspiracy, it's just greed.

 

A conspiracy implies that the people covering it up are good at it, and if Rockstar are anything they are sh*t at trying to hide or cover up things. Hot Coffee is a perfect example.

 

They (or really take two and zelnick in my opinion) tried to play us by keeping the next gen versions quiet. Thankfully due to their own incompetence they left prompts in the code that people found that showed a next gen and pc version was being planned. This was last year mind you.

 

So the fact that they delayed heists probably means they just said "f*ck it, itll generate buzz for the new versions if we release heists" because as of right now GTA Online is tumbleweed city as far as the average gamer is concerned.

 

So yeah, not really a conspiracy per say, more like "Oh Take Two is making Rockstar do shady sh*t again? Wow, there's a surprise."
