"Rockstar and 2K parent Take Two Interactive has filed a trademark for something called Hangar 13."

So around the second week of May, Rockstar and 2K filed for the trademark 'Hangar 13'. Knowing Rockstar, this could be spoof of Area 51. Or some say that this could be content for the game 'Agent' which has been in the works since 2009 but until last year the trademark was renewed.

So, what do you guys think?

EDIT: Hangar 18 not Area 51. Thanks for clearing that up, budcat.

Just an FYI, Hangar 13 is not a reference to Area 51 but Hangar 18 at Wright-Patterson Airforce Base in Ohio.

Can't really say for sure, but it'd be neat if it was its own standalone thing like Undead Nightmare.

Well I don't really see them doing it just for ps4 concidering how many units they sold for PS3.

That's exactly their plan. Sell the game twice to everyone who can afford it. I think the reason stuff didn't come out like they said it would is because why release all the good stuff when we you know you have a next gen on the horizon.

I know I would be thrilled if I was an executive at Rockstar, sell the game twice.

This is all this is about. Not gamers but shareholders, make no mistake about it.

Heh, I always associated Hangar 18 with Megadeth. Never knew there was one in Ohio.

My dad worked in the hanger directly next to hanger 18. You are very correct. He's been retired since '94 and still claimes "the security clearance in that hanger is no different than the one I worked in."

Thanks for clearing that up. Seems more likely thats its a spoof of Hangar 18.

Saints Row 4 anyone?

SR4 has quiet a comic edge to it with the Aliens and is a laugh, I don't want GTA to follow the same path though...

It will NOT be a future DLC. If Rockstar and 2K filed a patent then it's for a different game. 2K games has nothing to do with the GTA series.

Why can't we be both. I own shares of TTwo for years and they're a solid investment. I think gamers should be more invested in the industry, financially...especially if you want the industry to take your opinion seriously. It is a business, sad but true.

But yes as a gamer and an investor, they've paid off nicely. Hell, I'll even buy the game on the PC, not at launch but I'm sure the inevitable mods will be attractive enough.

But back OT, I think I'd rather have the Las Venturas/Area 51 island added to the game than Ohio. The question is, will the next gta 'island' be a premium dlc package or will it be a new game.

I was talking to my step-dad (jokingly) about investing in GTA V before it came out. Little did we know... But on a serious note, how would I invest into TTwo or any other successful gaming brand?

It's easy. Find a broker, if you want help building a portfolio but if you want to just make small investments in companies you think are going places start an account on etrade or sharebuilder. Sharebuilder doesn't have any sort of regular fee if you don't mind paying a small fee per trade.

If there's particular IP you want to invest in, google the dev and the description will say who owns them and (provided that you support their business practices) buy some of the publisher. It's really easy to do now, I started investing before the internet and let me just say I envy you.

Thanks man, I think I'm gonna invest in gaming in the future. I remember reading an article that games have surpassed Movies in entertainment revenue right after GTA V came out and that gaming was not stopping there. Especially with actors in games like COD and Last Of Us, I think gaming would be a great thing to invest in.

It depends. You really have to do research. Some of these companies (devs and even publishers) have bloated budgets and spend ridiculous amounts of money on marketing & promotion that doesn't pay off or tech they don't need or ip's that end up being crappy. It's like investing in any other industry, you do as much research as you can and take your chances. But speaking of that, don't just invest in gaming, rule #1 is you want to diversify your portfolio.

I'm sure there are other things that you read up on besides gaming, look for companies that look like they're doing something interesting. I'm looking to invest in the marijuana industry: elixers and things; as more and more states de-marginalize it, some of these companies will go big...and/or get bought by cocacola: also good.

Young people should look into how to invest in the funeral industry for when the babyboomers start dropping.

Just pay attention to the world around you and you will who has good odds.

The other #1 rule is that it's basically gambling and like with any other gambling, don't put up more than you're willing to lose.

But you know what's good practice while you're getting started? GTA games. I'm serious, start GTAV story again and play around with the in game stock market while you play through. Get Chinatown Wars and play around with the drug dealer minigame. Fun and educational.

There's a video on YouTube from "DatSaintsFan" who explains a recent finding concerning July 14th.

Something called "The independence day" pack was noted in some code which was also how the Hipster update was found before release.

I can only assume this is true, just passing up what I've seen.

Damn dude, you got this all painted out. Especially with the baby boomers and the Marijuana industry. I can imagine a great profit from these two alone. Thanks alot man. I will look back at this when I need some help.

Glad I could help. I've been doing this for a while but keep in mind I'm not exactly a professional. Feel free to pm me any time with questions and I'll pm you if I get any good tips.

Another good bit of advise: save up some cash (many of the online trading sites will set up a money market account , which will earn interest on its own) that you can immediately pull from when you want to invest. Keep some money in there for when the market has a crash. I made a lot of money from that crash we had in 08; had some cash put aside so I bought up tons of blue chip stocks (things like GE) which dropped a lot with the crash but I knew would go back up again.

OT:

Does anyone have any idea what is actually IN the alleged Independence Day update? I've just heard vague rumors that it's a thing.
