How'd you get the colored mesh grille? SE I'm guessing?

Actually, the grille changes color with the wheel color. I was extremely surprised when I found that out.

 

 

The grille changed with either the rims or the pearl... I was surprised too! I kept it cus it fit my theme

Re people voting for the photo and not the car, it happens but I don't think it's harmful to the Showdowns. A good theme may push a car up from a 7/10 to an 8/10, and convince someone to make that nomination (including me) but the over-riding factor is the car and that's been proven by the performance of the themed entries, nominations and the votes in the Finals for each of the Showdowns to date.

 

There's been a natural movement towards using a theme, but it's community driven I think and any entry that goes too far from focusing on the car tends to not get enough nominations from the community to make a Finals anyway. Looking at the Finals, it's clear in my mind that it's still a car contest, but with a (restricted) freedom to be creative.

 

Re slamming, imo it looks cool, anyone can do it and it adds some diversity among the entries. It was brought up before and the majority wanted it allowed and that was the over riding factor for that one.

Some opinions....

 

I'm not generally a fan of slamming. Sometimes it suits my taste, usually it doesn't. I don't have as problem with it being allowed, I just probably won't nominate you.

 

Its a fine line between judging the car and the photo but I think we're mostly on the right side of that line. I've seen some great photos I haven't nominated because they're too dark, or mostly about the scenery. But a good photo will enhance your entry, for sure. Imagine if shootings Jurassic SUV had been shot among trees on a dirt track...he wouldn't have just won the SUV section he'd have won the Internets, and not just for a day. Plus, if it was a photo contest ky1e would still be with us.... But mostly if you take a crap photo of your car, we can't judge your car.

 

Related to that is spoiler tag photos. I've been against them (not wanting them banned, just not viewing them and/or not liking entries that use them) but they do make it more of a car contest rather than photo contest, allowing us to show our cars from all sides. So I've come around to the position that banning filter and allowing spoiler tagged multiple shots makes it about the car more than the photo.

 

Finally, I respect the effort shooting puts into this, sometimes in the face of some fairly angry posts. Its a huge job. If he wants to do sports, supers, champ of champs and call it a day that's fair enough. Obviously I'd like to see a van showdown and I know people would like a bikes one...as the end approaches perhaps we can discuss doing those after the champs round. It could be separate contests or a 'best of the rest', someone would need to host and organise, etc etc. I'd recommend discussing it during a finalists poll so we don't clutter up a nominations topic...

 

Tldr? Rules are fine as they are, some thoughts for after the final champs, shootingallovertheplace is awesome for doing these.

Shouldn't matter where the car is in the thread. People judging should be trusted to just go through the entire thread, not the just most recent options.

Not at all, unlike most of this forum, I can form my thoughts into comprehensible, complete sentences, so I guess that somehow makes me mad? Sorry but your emotion detector must be broken. If anything, you had hurt feelings, hence why you called me a dick in the first place, but never mind that. I couldn't care less if you think I'm a dick or not, just letting you know I'm nowhere near the worst this forum has to offer and if your feelings get hurt because I answered your question bluntly, then you might want to leave.
