On a more serious note, even as a player who spent 3M on tanks (for both characters), I fully support the change, simply because the entire online tank mechanic has been broken from the beginning.

 

• First of all, It should've been unlocked at LV100 - not LV70. For that, they could've moved RPG/Heavy Sniper/Combat MG/etc.. down 10 LVs. It also should've cost $1000-2000 to call - not a measly $200.
• Secondly, Tanks in online should've had slower, more realistic reload speed and a 1min cool down timer after every 20-30 rounds fired (also realistic, as tanks cannot carry more than a few dozen shells). In addition to that, after the initial shell arsenal (20-30 shells) has been depleted, the driver should've been charged ~$500 for each consecutive one (and don't give me this 'omg, that's way too expensive' crap. If you paid 1.5M for the thing, you should be able to afford a couple grand on ammo).
• Thirdly, there should have been an auto-target anti-tank weapon unlockable at same level. Either that, or Airstrike should've been made more effective (e.g. deployed with minimap, or sniper scope, or helicopter's camera, etc..).
• Fourthly, Buzzards should have been able to lock on to tanks as long as they're within the tank cannon range (to make it fair).
• Rockstar also should've taken all the illegitimate tanks from low levels immediately after the modded cash cleanup and taken care to protect idle/stationary PVs from the infamous 'tanks not paying insurance' mechanic (no, it was not a bug, as it remained in game throughout several patch versions).

Not everyone uses a tank to get their epeen up. I bought a tank for self defense against twankers, and to cruise around in and the occasional mission.

i feel you brother... i dont pull my tank out often, but i did once recently to try and protect the lobby from the twanker who blew me up...i blew em up and just rode past ppl honking...prob the first time they seen a tank not try to blow them up lol

i feel you brother... i dont pull my tank out often, but i did once recently to try and protect the lobby from the twanker who blew me up...i blew em up and just rode past ppl honking...prob the first time they seen a tank not try to blow them up lol

 

I've done that a few times too. I go purely after the twanker, but am met by small arms fire and RPG's from everyone else. But can't blame them, I shoot at every tank that gets near me as well.

the only excuse for being killed by a tank is being spawned somewhere without cover and they keep running you over.

Well since they've nerfed the tanks I went and got mine to see how much it would take for it to be blown up. I was in a lobby with 2 jets going around the map killing people (they must have been friends or same crew) while they had a third killing people on foot. They kept saying to each other on their mics: "YEA BITCH, LOOK I JUS SHOT THA N***A DOWN AGIN". When I got in my tank one of them came down using the cannon gun on the jet and the tank blew up after a few bullets! WTF! I am glad they've nerfed it a bit but this is just ridiculous.

I don't mind the nerf, even though the tank is way weaker than before, now you actually have a chance when being griefed. I don't use my tank for that, so no problems.
