@bundi British often refer Ministry Of Transport Test as MOT and its always been mentioned on Ebay motor UK, when I was looking for reference pics on certain British cars. Its an annual roadworthy test for vehicles 3 years and older. Other EU countries may have similar test. As far as mini cabrio, I have another theory, this car maybe a Canadian tourist who traveled across the Atlantic in a cargo ship with their own car (http://www.cargoshipvoyages.com/) this is like riding a ferry from UK to France with your own car. Its rare kind of travel for people too attached to their own car, most people rather fly and rent a car.

@universe LOL what a waste of artistic talent, could have been cooler paint it on a 1983 GMC Vandura (similar to the A-team van) with big fat rims and porthole window.

Anyway Ive been experimenting vertex prelit stuff, I tried doing it on maya then export to zmod with a sample mesh, unfortunately the import/export program failed to retain the prelit data. I tried doing it on z modeler directly and im surprised its fairly easy, simply using lights and it bakes directly to the mesh..so i have to make another test if i can do it in game.

Funny, I've got something like that as an HO scale model. Probably when I get my model railroad up and running again I'll send you a picture of it.

Sure, when you got a chance, Another Japanese mixing up with American cars...

Its not a joke...Its an actual Japanese police vehicle in the 70's, not some Ford Mustang fanatic watching too many Initial D...The irony....this generation of Mustang was design by a Japanese American named Larry Shinoda :D

@Carface: Well, that probably explains some thing. Sometimes people bring their own car when they travel, but most of them are people who travel to more than one country/continent, not one destination traveler.

LOL! Very ironic, and by far that is one of my least favorite Mustang design.

I like it, reminds me to the Aussie Falcon XB GT.

I didn't know it was used as interceptor, looks pretty badass.

@bundi I find these mustang too bulky, but i find the mach 5 fairly attractive... My least favorite is probably the mustang ii (essentiallly a ford pinto) they are to stumpy.. the hatchback v-8 models is not bad though.

@roadrunner, the falcon is a better sized car, not too bulky.

@Carface: Well, mid to late 70's and early 80's Mustangs are the worst years of that car.

Anyway, that Mustang isn't the only American car used at Japanese police force. Some American cars are also used, but as ceremony police car:

You guys remember that North Korean dude's funeral? They had old Lincolns and I'm wondering how they got them into the country, let alone why they'd get an American car into a funeral for a guy who hated America.

@bundi Top: caddy fleetwood 1993-1997

Middle: ford thunderbird 1979

Bottom: chevrolet caprice 72-77

Looks like it comes with the imperial japanese logo...

@universe prolly it had been stolen by north korean spy from south korea :D or donated by Iran. Maybe stolen from US mainland and shipped it to north korea...endless possibility. Probably purchased from any non-align countries as well.

mapped the interior..

I modeled the interior based on 500XL, the exterior is based on regular 500, to make a little more authentic, I may have to upgrade the exterior trim based on 500XL models

Wooden trim dash included?

Anyway, does old American cars have emergency brakes near the pedals? I only know those features in vans nowadays.

I had look at every reference photo, all the 1966 models have foot type parking brakes. The trim level im doing doesnt come with a fake wood trim (some of the lower ones do)

@almost I like the XB falcon better because its less bulky looking.

Edit: Interior UV mapping is nearly done, hopefully I turn my attention on engine and undercarriage soon.

Funny I posted my WIP submission (like I usually do in the last few years) to GTAgarage..in few days I got a shocking revelation "the mod had been deleted" WOW UNBELEIVABLE!

How do you get the chrome effect in your models, simply messing with the material or something? It's the best I've seen by far, the metallic/chromed parts of most of the mods out there look too plastic and unreal.

@roadrunner the base colour have to be at least dark gray (or medium dark gray) then set the specular strength up to 80 then jack up the spec map. .For best results, add a user setting on the materials called refl, reflpow, specmap, spec2mod ..i learned this from chasez. Have to play around with the settings to make it looks right.

Some picnic cloth pattern for the trunk. Body is now textured with a 512 map (no 1024 maps). Mapping is done and a few model parts needed to be finished (. Only most of the chromed exterior parts needs uv mapping.

great job !! After that you will continue LTDII or have another model that interests you?

Diplomat / Fury / Fifth Avenue, pickups, vans (Ram van, econoline) and trucks for gta IV would be interesting.

This will be the finest, most detailed model ever created for GTA IV I believe. I'm impressed.

About Diplomat/Gran Fury - that's the last car I'm really lookin' forward to see in IV, to be precise - in NYPD colors with ELS Aerodynic. I don't need anything else. I'm not sure but seems to me that Carface posted somewhere he isn't really interested in modelling it. :sui: I'd like to know if I should forget about that car or there's still some hope. ;)

@gct LTDIi is on hold because I need to get the Fairlane done fast. There are plenty of potential cars out there, but a few are willing to make an entire car on scratch.

@Adam Not sure about the grand fury, T-808 is tied up with road warrior mod so more likely its on hold.

In the same case the Chevrolet Astro, 80s japanese cars (Prelude, camry, 300zx) and ram van. The Diplomat / Gran Fury were never modeled for any GTA, where the moonbeam, previon, intruder, euros and pony are based.

Most people prefer converting Forza or NFS meshes, so you got modern pony cars and exotic cars flooding the mod scene. Doing a Forza conversion, they don't have to deal with the most challenging part of modeling, instead they just model easy stuff, like the sills, engines and trunk compartment. In addition it comes with LOD1 meshes, swell!

Unless we got enough of pure scratch builder, we can see more of these common cars in modding scene. People eventually forced to model their own car because they cant find their favorite car happened to be a mundane model!

I'd say that I'd try to learn to model from scratch but I've already said that that many times in the past that it has lost its actual meaning.

Did the Fairlane come from factory with that cloth in the trunk? Looks ready to go picnic.

@roadrunner i am not sure if they are factory optional equipment, but most commonly sold as aftermarket. Without it its ugly. They are probably made from vinyl, i just used a picnic cloth pattern.
