Which System Is Best?

360 or PS3

I play on PS but it can be a bit laggy at times. I still want it over 360 but whatever. What advantage for playing GTA does each system have over the other?

This question has been asked hundreds of times.

If you want my advice, just play GTA V on the console your friends play on.

If my advice doesn't help you, then read this, and reach your own conclusion.

I'd say memory differs, ps3 got 256mb (lol) each for both system and graphics, the 360 got the same total, but can allocate it to system or graphics as needed.

I'd think this makes the 360 abit more flexible in memory, and maybe the lack of such is why ps3 seemingly freezes more.

Anyway i would still say it' a toss, I have a ps3 (pc gamer though), and a friend got a xbox.... I can't tell a difference between them running gta v in either mode.

Free online play and a bluray player would be ps3's arguement i guess, if that's relevant for you.

PS3 has 512, it just isn't unified. PS3 freezes more because hard drive intensive games like GTA V cause fragmentation. Easily fixed. GTA V generally performs a little better on PS3, although after the patches it's negligible.

Yeah, 256mb for each, system and graphics. Xbox same total ^^;-)

Data doesn't really fragment on the ps3, but i know what you mean, didn't think of hd, might be that, good point. Upgrading the hd might be an idea, it's crap iirc (havent't looked into this in a long time).

Both technically near enough the same in gameplay, PS3 advantage is that the Audio Quality is better and the video streams are MUCH better (both higher bitrate and resolution). PS3 also has a little benefit if you have a faster hard drive in the console, GTAV is one of the few games that will take Hard Drive speed into consideration on the PS3.

I've seen a lot of gameplay on both consoles, and I couldn't tell you which one is which.

Xbox supposedly has a problem streaming Disc 2 (play) from the HDD (I've installed it to a flash drive and the pop-ups seemed to be better, but I still get them).
I've noticed artifacting on the 360 (very quick, for months i thought they were birds flying across the screen) and I've heard people say they've seen similar things on PS3. I don't think either have significant graphical superiority; as said, they look the same to me.

Strange that as much as we see these "PS3 v XBOX" topics, I never see anyone talk about TV or connectivity methods. Component for example (what I play on) makes blacks look very dark, colours look really vibrant. HDMI on my tv looks a tad washed out. If i had a pic of GTA IV through HDMI and Component, you'd think they were different consoles.

My point? The differences are so negligible that just having a different TV/connection method or even brightness/contrast settings can negate it.

Performance wise, I've heard some people complain about the PS3, but also about the 360 (Mine's literally falling apart).

The biggest advantage with GTA V is, i think, the PS3's single disc. Not a huge problem for 360 if you have a HDD or a flash drive (a 32Gb one cost me under £20).

The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.

It's the same game, i can't see difference, i play on Xbox 360 and saw several videos of PS3 too, it's the same thing, you should consider the one that has the best control, the best online services for you, but not the graphics because they're the same.

Yes good point. Btw tried fiddling with the options for color settings on console itself, might improve the excessive dark black and vibrant colors, also the washed out picture is tied to the rgb settings on the console, it's full range or limited on PS. Decides the number of colors supported,, sometimes TV and console settings contradict or are not supported at all. Edited by Sofa

I don't think it really matters. Especially now that their generation is essentially over.

You pick what console your friends are on if you want to play with them. If not then buy whatever one you like the look of most or whatever one you can get cheapest or whatever one has exclusive games that interest you. These are only questions that YOU can answer so asking us is useless.

If it were between PS4/One then I'd say PS4. PS4 is the better console this generation but AGAIN...ask yourself these questions above and decide for yourself.
