Just thought I'd update the first post so that users who visit this topic don't have to scroll down and look for everything. Now everything is in one place and more organised.

Yes, you are able to delete the files listed on the first post without worrying about your game crashing. Edited by Savidge

Deleting LD_BUM.TXD causes the game to freeze during OG Loc mission when you pick up OG Loc from LSPD (right when the cutscene is supposed to start playing).

I checked main.scm and found these lines:

:TWAR7_2753...0390: load_txd_dictionary 'LD_BUM' 038F: load_texture "BUM2" as 1 // Load dictionary with 0390 first 038F: load_texture "BLKDOT" as 2 // Load dictionary with 0390 first 038B: load_requested_models 03F0: enable_text_draw 1 02E4: load_cutscene_data 'SMOKE1B' 

Then the mission loads the same txd file after you reach Freddy's house and go to the door of his house.

So you shouldn't delete the file if you're going to play the storyline missions

Don't make "furnitur.dat" blank.You won't be able to play burglary side mission as the game will crash if you enter a house.
Looks like this file isn't useless as GTA modding wiki thinks.

Yes, there's a SA icon on the left and description for IV on the right.

 

You can fix mistakes on a wiki yourself if you found them. Just log-in with your GTAForums account data and do the job.

umm... what about all the useless files in the .img files...? like the files left from GTA VC..?
also there are a lot of unused audio files in audio folder...
