I don't know about you guys, but I want to play GTA Online on the PC for a multitude of reasons. I also want to play it on PS4 for another multitude of reasons.

We've been told that would be able to transfer our progress over to the new generation (PC included)... But once we're there, I wonder if they'll let us use our account synchronously between a console and the PC version of GTA Online.

I would love to see it happen but I am not expecting it. Maybe that's the hidden pessimist inside me or maybe it's the fact that developers tend to want to get away with doing as little as they have to.

You can transfer your PS3/360 character save game data to your PS4.

It's unknown to PC

Oh, thanks. Guess I'll keep playing on PS4 then... PC would be a fun option as well, but it would be heartbreaking to need to choose between one or the other.

Why are you feeding false information, dude?

The online save data is stored on Rockstar's social club servers, and as such you will be able to transfer them to any NG platform of your choosing, OP.

It says right there on the newswire announcement: "In addition, the current community of players will have the ability to transfer their Grand Theft Auto Online characters and progression to their choice of PlayStation 4, Xbox One or PC."

I just want to know if I can transfer the character to both PS4 and PC. Just in case.

With Online I see them keeping their cloud as the central repository. Meaning one set of data (your online progress) to many clients (consoles and PC).

Exactly this. I don't want to have to choose between any platforms. I want both!!!

The way they worded it, I think it's only a one way transition to one type of next gen console or PC.

I heard this from the PS4 E3 GTA5 Presentation. How is this false information? I didn't know you can transfer your game data to PC.

I thought it was only for PS4? It's what the speaker of the GTA5 presentation said after the PS4 GTA5 Trailer at the end of the video.

one thing i'm also wondering is what happens to the PS3 save? i'll be moving over to PC when it lands but i've got mates on PS3 who won't be. so what then? the game will still be installed on my console but will the (transitioned) data still be accessible? thoughts / opinions?

Which save ? story mode progress ? On PC and NG, you'll have to start a new game. No savegame transfer, only Online account.

Because it was a Sony conference.

Of course they're not going to mention other platforms.

Read the newswire article on next gens again. It says you can transfer to ANY NG console

i chose my words poorly. i of course was refering to online progress. hence the curiosity as to whether i would still be able to play online with friends (on PS3) using my existing characters.

Wonder if it'll be a cross save that you can progress on either… although to be fair I don't see why I'd go back to my PS3 when I have it on PS4.

What will happen to your PS3 game then? Will they progress separately? Or once moved do you start again on the old console? Maybe they'll open out the new chracter slots and some will be next gen slots and some not.

Just throwing out some idea for all to think about.

If the character is saved on the cloud. I see no reason why the progress wouldn't be saved, as we use it on Old Gen or NG / PC any time.

The only thing that could oppose this, is exclusive content on NG and PC.

But what about PC to PS4/X1? I would love to play on my PS4 to play with my playstation friends, but I have plenty of friends who only game on PC who are gonna get the game on PC. I'd like to be able to decide which platform I can use my character on at all times :)

It'll be both, your characters are both tied to the same profile.
