Landing jumps on a motorcycle

Does anyone have a method or any tips on how to survive big jumps? Especially big vertical drops. I've been practicing on the jump by Madrazo's but I still don't think I've found the sweet spot.

Do you land huge jumps or die on your bike? What's your method?

I can barely manage to ramp off of things. Actual jumps seem okay but I can't do anything like in the YouTube stunt videos. I can land once in a while. It seems landing, much like back flips, are easier when NOT pressing the gas.

I don't know about the really big jumps. But I off-road on a Sanchez a lot and have started to put the front wheel down first, when catching some air, and I do seem to stay on a lot more than I used to.

Made In Detroit

I pull back on the left stick to wheelie and time the release so that the front wheel comes down as the bike lands.

I think it's that if you're dropping quicker than you are flying forward, you'll bail on the bike. I'm not exactly sure though. From my experience, I don't fall off if I still have forward momentum as I land. It's only if I drop in a way similar to an outward exponential line on a graph that I bail. Madrazzo's jump is tricky to land because of this, as the landing point is so much lower than the ramp. As far as I remember, I haven't managed to nail it with a motorcycle yet.

Thanks for the suggestions I have some techniques to try now. I used to think Madrazzo's was impossible to land, but since I've hit it a couple times successfully.

The first time it said my jump height was 99.X feet so I figured there might be a 100 ft limit to bike landings, but later I landed it on a Daemon and it was just over, something like 104.

Thanks again for the tips though.

The ramp Trevor uses to jump the train in campaign is right near a hill that sits between this little jump and Trevor's airport. (ignore the train track jump) this hill is amazing! I managed a double back flip AND a landing last night.

I'm still concerned about the jumps in the city. Like the "art" in front of one of the buildings is shaped like a cube and has a great ramp side. I had seen a video where someone drove up the front of a Cheetah and then ramp off the art. I've tried driving up the front of my friend's fully modded, fully lowered Cheetah. Despite my wheelie I was still met with flying off my cycle and headfirst into another car.

My method is to land huge jumps and don't die.

Lol no. Here's a tip: you have to be like 80% parallel to the surface you land on to stick the landing. So after your finish your fancy stunt or whatever, pull back or push forward on the stick to "stick" the landing.

If your tryna land on a flat surface, postion ya self upright. If your tryna land on like the side of a hill, lean forward some instead of being upright so that you don't bail.

You can still make the landing even if your form isn't perfect, but this gives you a better chance. Not to mention what type of bike you have makes a difference.

I don't know if anyone is still reading this, but here is my 2 cts.

This is an area I've been closely interested in.

I feel there is no magic formula, and that luck is often a factor, but I also feel one has control on some aspects on how to land big jumps :

Not necessarily by order of importance :

1 - pulling tricks seems to help land big jumps, instead of vertical dropping without doing anything. I have most luck when I try to get my bike in landing position close to the ground.

2 - I don't feel there is one "do-it-and-it-will-work" landing position. I think landing in wheelie position, meaning landing back wheel first can help. But I've also landed big jumps on the front wheel so I'm not sure.

3 - THIS HELPS A LOT : controlling speed while in air. I try balancing between acceleration and brake and I'm pretty sure it helps. (hit acceleration, hit brake, sometimes both at the same time, but I don't brake all the way or accelerate all the way)

Again, I'm not saying the above are absolute truth about the matter, but it works for me. Here are two examples of big jump landings I made. I'd love to have your opinion about them too :) :
