Neat little features in games.

I love when I look down in any FPS and can see my character's body. The first game I played with this was The Darkness and it blew me away.

Alone in the Dark's (the newer one) inventory system was cool too, but the game was awful.

Wayne Daniels

(Not sure if a "neat little feature".) One of my all time favourites. In Driver: Parallel Lines, you can switch between living in 1978 and 2006.

The tricycle chase in NOLF 2 is one of the most hilarious thing to happen in fps gaming.

It could be easily praised for the sheer original idea, that made me laugh out loud the first time I saw it.

I never imagined THIS!.. chasing down the assassin and killing the mime thugs on a tricycle .. lol

Saints Row: Cruise Control. It's a lot easier to do a drive by when you don't have to control the speed of your car.

Algonquin Assassin

I think the concept of fast travel is pretty neat. Especially games with huge maps.

The option ( though limited ) to kill by setting it up as an accident, also inclusion of CCTV and notoriety ratings to further add the tension in Hitman: Blood Money.

That reminds me about Cruise Control in Mafia City of Lost Heaven.

Considering that in Mafia, speeding got the attention of the polices, i find that this features is very helpful.

The brawling feature in 'Road Rash'; player can fight other bikers with hand weapons, kick or punch ( even grab the weapons with correct timing ) to drop them off.

edit: my bad .. Th3MaN1, point taken :^:

What you listed above; none of it makes part of 'neat little touches'. They are all major stuff, not simple things that can be missed by the gamer.

Saints Row: Personal driver. Damn that feature was good. You call up a girl to drive for you, and she actually drives well and you can give directions while she's driving, unlike in IV, you have to press a button to change where you want to go, and of course Mohammed drives like sh*t.

Watch_Dogs: you can pick up IED's and Lure thingy's after you placed them somewhere but didn't activated them.

Metro- being able to overcharge electric weapons, how your flashlight gets crap when your battery runs low, wiping your gasmask...basically lots of stoof.

I like how they added cutscenes in NBA 2k14 next gen on mycareer mode. Neat little feature that adds a lot of depth and immersion while playing through it.

the ironic one

Mafia: The City of Lost Haven - used shells, used empty clips and weapons that you threw out don't disappear which is realistic, at that time it was unique. The same thing about bullet holes in cars and other objects.
Hitman 1,2,contracts, blood money, absolution - the only game about the assassin with very unique weapons like a fiber wire and endless number of ways to approach your targets. It's like playing chess with better graphics and the plot. "All zero" in stats if you know what I mean.
True Crime NYC - you can frisk people and deal with street crimes, you've got some non-lethal weapons like taser that you can use if you wont to end up as a good cop.
GTA 2 - the way you can play with gangs (earning their trust and losing it) and futuristic visions of future.
The Godfather - the economic aspect in this game is great.
Scarface - I always wanted Tony Montana to stay alive. You can change the movie ending if you didn't like it.
GTA SA - in terms of number of possibilities still rocks. You can literally change your character. You can get fat, get ripped, get tattooed. Only sex change operation isn't avaible, but probably there are some mods.

Some of the features mentioned are not really 'neat' features that one game does well or whatever (or in short, are features that should be basically implemented in any game).

Switching shoulders: any third person shooter/game should have that. I really hate that about Sniper Elite to be honest that they haven't implemented that feature.

Picking up items you haven't 'used'. Yeah, alot of games do this by now and it is rather 'standard'.

The Scrye spell in Clive Barker's Undying allows you to see visions, ( though limited ) to understand the events of the past.

Also, the atmosphere in this game is absolutely terrific!!

The lack of onscreen decision making in the original Deus Ex such as entering the Women's restroom in UNATCO HQ and having your boss scold you for doing so or not saving the hostages in Brooklyn Park and instead skipping straight to Manhattan.

If you insert some PS1 games into CD players you can play the soundtrack included in the game. One off the top of my head is The Italian Job.

In The Last of Us, if you keep purposefully missing shots Ellie will comment on the fact that you're wasting ammo.

In SSX 2012 you can import your own music and the game will remix the tracks on the fly such as lowering the soundtrack when you drop from a high altitude or slow the song down when activating boost.

Not many people know this but at the end of TellTale's The Walking Dead Season 1 when Clementine makes "the choice", if you don't select any options then she'll choose based on your actions made previously in the past 4 episodes.

In Half Life: Opposing Force, typing "changelevel c1a0" into the console will allow you to play the entirety of Half Life's campaign as Shepherd with all his weapons.

Drill Sergeant

Watch_Dogs: NPCs will interact with other NPCs and objects and they will announce when it's raining.

Grand Theft Auto IV: Sleep Mode.

The Last of Us: Ellie will help Joel while doing melee attacks. She jumps on backs.

-Blinkers and windshield whipers in Deadly Premonition.

-Stamina system in MGS3.

-Vehicle surfing in Saints Row.

-Wind in Zelda: TWW. Surprisingly not used often, at least to as much detail. Only others I can think of are Okami and MGS4.

-Driving and overall physics in GTA4.

-NPC schedules with depth as in Deadly Premonition, Zelda: MM, Chulip.

Far cry 2 -weapon jam and breaks if used to much

Fallout 3 - you can buy stuff for a house

There are some cool little features in GTA III that make you appreciate all the little details that went into that game (especially for a game released in 2001). For example, if you get in a car without closing the doors first, releasing the trigger will prompt Claude to close the door. Moreover, the hydraulics system in the Yardie Lobo was a cool feature which wasn't even necessary but was still there. The fact that there were so may bullet, fire, explosion, and damage proof cars.

In Sleeping Dogs, you can upgrade your first apartment you unlock. If you walk through the marketplace south of the map you'll sometimes find certain NPC's with button prompts over their heads, if you interact with them they'll offer you things like a canary in a cage or an AC Unit to place in your apartment.

However, I've found that accidentally declining will make them "disappear" and you won't be able to purchase their item again.

Rolling my windows up and down has mad my day so many times on that game.

Also usable indicators just adds that immersion to the game.
