69_black_69
Just curious on what tiny little features you guys liked from a games you hate/love, while some other games don't have it. Here's mine:Kingdom of Amalur : Hide helmet to show your character face.I think every rpg should have this kind of feature. Basically, it hides whatever head armor you're wearing, but keeping whatever stats it raised, so you could see your character face. I've always put much of my times on making my character looks pretty, and almost every good helmet cover up the face, so i can't see the beauty of my creation. So, i loved this features so very much.Tomb Raider : Swap shoulder while aiming. Every third person shooter should have this. It is very helpful because sometimes the environment in games could block my view in left/right perspective. If i remember it right, Max Payne 3 did change it's shoulder perspective too, but automatically, and that things frustrated me because in some occasion, it didn't work like the way i wanted. Bastion and Transistor : Adjustable difficulty settings. Many other games just had the easy, medium, hard difficulty settings. It hard to see the differences, how it affect your gameplay, because maybe that difficulty choice isn't what we've expected. While in Bastion and Transistor, you could modify the difficulty setting in the way that suited your taste. Player could choose a wide variety of difficulty modifier (i.e the enemy speed, or power, or even enemy quantity that spawn), and turn it off and on. So, every player could find their own 'perfect difficulty' setting that suited their style Flatout Series : Enemy personality. It's a race game that i loved to death. While other racing games just pick a random names as your enemies, Flatout gives you the same character, with names and faces, as enemies for every race you play. It sounds so boring right? you played with the same guy/girl over and over again? Wrong. With that kind of system, you could feel each of every enemies you race comes alive They have different personality while they're driving their car. Some guy/girl just wanted to be the first, some other just wanted to enjoy the race, and the some other one probably just wanted to wreck everything you love. Playing other racing game, when i lose, i usually blame my keyboard, or PC, or myself for being so stupid. But while playing Flatout, i could blame my defeat on some f*cking pathetic A.I racer. So, f*ck you, Jack Benton for being so fast while wrecking my sh*t. So, what yours? Edited June 21, 2014 by 69_black_69 Osho

Goldn-Bayse
Just cause 2 - Even though the driving mechanics sucked, I like how there were arrows on the road to follow your waypoint. It's better than staring at the minimap at the corner of the screen. Hitman: Absoloution - very small feature but it allowed you to pull the trigger halfway to make your shot accurate before you shoot.

Osho
Nice topic! In the game "Arx Fatalis", there is a unique casting system where the player MUST draw runes ( of different shaped symbols ) in real time, on the screen with the mouse to get the desired spell in effect instantly. You can even queue upto three spells, in advance, ready to be cast ( as precast spells ) It was different and added an interesting creative touch to the casting activity. It demands your time, effort and careful selection of spells, and therefore feels more challenging
ric4rd094
Forza Horizon/Motorsport 4: The detail of the cars, for example when you reach high RPM in Viper, the logo of it will light up red on a dashboard. When you brake, the logo light up red again, but in the rear of the car.

Zancudo
Plenty of games have the option to swap shoulder side perspective. I don't know why Tomb Raider is given as an example, as if it was innovative in any matter. Anyways, to be more on the topic: I'm playing Dishonored right now, and I really like those "tiny" sounds, like the sound of eating (to replenish health/mana) or of taking footsteps on a roof. Also, things guards say are sometimes genuinely awesome. Edited June 22, 2014 by Zancudo ric4rd094
RyanBurnsRed
Eurotruck Simulator 2. I absolutely love the that the game allows you to stream music from the internet while you're playing. You have the choice of streaming a radio station of your choice, or enjoy over 20 European radio stations. It makes it very authentic. I can't understand a darn thing any of the people are saying on the Belgium station that I listen to, but the music is good. RedDagger
In GTA V, you will climb up a ladder no matter what direction you approach it from. It's probably in other games, but I just find it so useful. If you want to go up the ladder, just go towards it. Simple. GTAKid667
69_black_69
Max Payne had that feature is right or left on the controller. Not sure what on pc. If that's right, than it's my own fault. Never really liked seeing lots of tutorial on how to control things. Just wanna jump straight into the gameplay. It was just because it's the only game i've played that introduced me to that 'shoulder swapping at will' thing. I didn't play every games that was released, you know, haha.
Osho
I'm a big fan of the game "Freedom Fighters" and the simplistic approach in giving out orders such as, Follow, Attack and Defend. An effective system w/o any complications in controlling the squad, and that really worked well. The squad AI was also good enough to carry out orders as intended and keep the things quick and easy. Guest
idk if it's in anything else, but in Gran Turismo and GTA4, you can lock your handbrake if you hold it for a few seconds while keeping still. Also, turning engine off or leaving it on when in a vehicle, in GTA4. Burnout Paradise and Midnight Club LA, where you seamlessly enter and exit multiplayer and things inside multiplayer. If you want to race, you just start the damn race. If you want to enter multiplayer, you press the damn button and enter mulitplayer. None of this GTA online wait 10 mins to join and get placed in an apartment it takes ages to walk out of bullsh*t. Also, sleeping. If your game is open world, sleeping should always ALWAYS be an option. No exceptions. Even better is Fallout where you choose how long you sleep. There's also Burnout series where instead of some big-ass arrows placed in the world (Sleeping Dogs, Just Cause 2, Watch_Dogs), directions are given via indicators. Osho
I specially loved the options in GTA 2 to upgrade the vehicles with time bombs, oil slick, machine guns, etc and several other "funny little" elements in the game overall, that are sadly no longer possible to enjoy in future GTA games. the ironic one

Dottie
GTA V- convertibles that work (MCLA had this feature, but you had to pause and go to the settings) Forza- shows mileage of the car you're driving (look closely). other interior gauges are functional too Farcry 2- Gun jamming (even though the guns decayed like steel wool in a glass of water, it added some realism) GTA SA- pressing Y or N to respond to NPCs
Osho
Mafia ( Classic ): The police AI is quite brilliant with simple yet very effective system such as, issuing the ticket for minor offenses, handcuff sign for major ones, the gun icon to indicate the use of a lethal force from them by firing at you, and chasing you with deadly shotguns capable to kill you instantly, and lastly, the confusion state of the police that pops up when you're out of sight for long enough. An impressive, realistic and probably the finest system seen in an open world game. Also, the enemies don't keep shooting indefinitely, but they will actually run out of bullets. They will briefly pause either to reload ( you can actually see them putting bullets quickly ) or find a distraction to change cover, or simply run away and also charge at you with a knife. Alan Wake - The concept of using a flashlight to weaken the enemies Max Payne ( Classic ) - Using bullet time and shoot-dodges was absolutely fun to play. Besides, the effect of the slow motion kills was also highly satisfying. Also, the short lines which the enemies often speak like, "Hold it!", or "What the Hell" when they are surprised to encounter Max made me always laugh. The graphic novel method also was quite cool and original. Far Cry ( Classic ) - Sneaking meter and Binoculars with added feature to scan the area. matajuegos01

jetjatin
Mafia 2 had nice realistic features like refilling your car's gas tank and repairing totaled car. Th3MaN1
I love how in Max Payne 3, whenever in the middle of a gunfight, your weapon runs out of ammunition completely, Max will have a brief, short comment like "This isn't the best time.".
