How to convince myself to play deathmatches and LTS?

That's the question. Every time i think "okay time to try it" and hit join deathmatch, i immediately leave the lobby anyway. I'm too scared to lose and shame myself. I never played either deathmatch or LTS. And that's the reason why my sig only shows races. Rest of my stats are complete sh*t. How can it be helped?

You can try to start with friends/people you know. If that's not possible because you're new or don't know anyone, just try to stick with "Forced + Pickups" unless you have weapons you like and are good with then go for owned + pickups. I find forced + pickups are good for lower levels to avoid the higher levels coming down on them with RPG's or anything heavy unless it's available in the deathmatch by design.

Other than that, just go.You'll suck, you'll lose. You'll do good, you'll win. It's going to change from game to game.

Eventually, you'll start to win more than you lose. imo

---

Try to avoid some of the user made death matches that promise '100,000' RP/GTA$ Just a trap/waste of time... but don't let that stop you from trying everything once. You never know what you'll enjoy.

only way to get better is to play them....look at my stats...I used to be average in freeroam. Then I started doing DMs...lots of em....

I still have room to improve, but me and my buddy took on 5 guys in freeroam tonight, and they had to get tanks to deal with us...and that didnt even slow us down..

Play,practice...get better

EDIT: shooting range works wonders too

Look ya gonna take ya lumps at first because it takes some time to adjust to the dynamics but watching YouTube vids will inspire you and give you an idea of how to traverse the map. Only free roaming hunting will prepare you but nothing compares to just getting into DMs and figuring out your strategy.

And if you do a Search here in the forum for Deathmatch you will find very useful threads.

Don't be scared, you'll be surprised at how easily others can be defeated. You're going to get your ass kicked at some point, might as well have fun and not let the fear of losing stop you. You pussy. :p

for the record LTS isnt gonna make you any better...you die once youre out...no RP,and little cash.

Team death matches is where its at....try to find an owned+pickup lobby as forced+pickup gives the advantage to those that hotplay that map and they know where are the machineguns and rifles are,and youre stuck with a pistol.

Try not to camp too much, but dont be afraid to use cover....most players camp, and make for good target practice with an RPG

Don't be afraid, practise is the only way to get better at things, I understand that loosing can be frustrating but we've all been there. How can you get better if you backdown everytime ?

There are so many useful threads/advices in the Guide and strategies section.

And remember, it's just a game, have fun !

You won't get into Valhalla with that attitude. Honestly, though, I feel the same way. I rarely do them and usually finish with a .8 - 1.2. It's fun though, once you do a couple that apprehension will go away.

You win some and lose some.

Go ahead with LTS. It´s much more tactical and slow paced (if your pals have a brain that´s it). Spotting before being spotted and the way you move are more important than how you aim. Teams sort of stay together and watch their back.

DM is much more fastpaced, and chaotic. You spawn in silly places all the time and if the game is busy it can really get stoopid. People don´t stick together and it´s far less organized after you spawn away from teammates for the first time.

Find a good crew to play with. The GTAF team deathmatch squad does work. Losing is extremely rare for us when we are together. TDM is my favorite part of this game.

Just goes to show you; same way you took a chance with this, take a chance with the DM and TDM. If you play it and decide after a while that it's not for you, then that's just that :p

Just do them, some will suck some will be fun. Team death match is a good place to start, watch some of the better players on your team to get some ideas what to do. I avoided them at first, play them when I get board now. When they are good matches they can be a lot of fun. Same goes for capture if you luck upon a full lobby of people who play them all the time. Ran into one of those a wile ago and it was insane, lol.

GTA Deathmatch sucks balls. Download Uncharted 3 multiplayer and play that instead if you want a good deathmatch experience. (AND a good free aim experience.

You aren't the only one OP. I don't like doing Deathmatches only because of the constant, spawn, shoot, kill, die, respawn. Rinse and repeat. It starts to feel like a crappy fps like COD. /waits for the COD lovers to stomp on my innards. :panic:

LTS is a very unfortunate game mode. I would rather see their maps be absorbed by T/DM and a better/more fun match type be added in its' stead.
