Cebra
I just tried to install the game after getting a new PC, the OS being Windows 8. I installed it, tried to launch it, and now it doesn't work. It shows the disc icon spinning to show that the game is loading, but after about five seconds it goes away and nothing comes up. No black screen or anything. The disc isn't scratched, and I've tried running it in compatibility mode twice. (XP and W7) I restarted my computer just to see if it would make a difference, and now the menu that asks what you want to do with the game won't even come up. Despite this, I can hear the PC trying to read the disc. Any ideas?
ric4rd094
So I see that my post got deleted. I will mention "safe" stuff now. Two things come to my mind: 1) Try to move whole game to non-system directory 2) Try to delete SA settings file if you have one (which I'm now sure since you mentioned that the gamr doesn't even start)
lil weasel
Ain't Windows 8 a scream? It doesn't like the older games. Older games run 'hit or miss' with Windows 8. As you have tried (the standard fixes): Install with Admin Privileges. Install to the C:/ (default) drive. Set compatibility mode to XP (or Win98, Vista, etc.) If there is a gta_sa.set file in the START > UserName > Documents > San Andreas User Files > gta_sa.set Delete it. Do Not install any mods. (Yet.) Do Not 'Crack' the game. (Do Not Play without the DVD in the drive.)
