Cebra
I just tried to install the game after getting a new PC, the OS being Windows 8. I installed it, tried to launch it, and now it doesn't work. It shows the disc icon spinning to show that the game is loading, but after about five seconds it goes away and nothing comes up. No black screen or anything. The disc isn't scratched, and I've tried running it in compatibility mode twice. (XP and W7) I restarted my computer just to see if it would make a difference, and now the menu that asks what you want to do with the game won't even come up. Despite this, I can hear the PC trying to read the disc. Any ideas? Edited June 21, 2014 by PhilosophicalZebra

ten-a-penny
Maybe totally random, but maybe because GTA:SA doesn't support Windows 8? I run it on Windows 7. No problems for be expect lag (which is normal, very small laptop that doesn't matches the least requirement, of course lag will happen) Edited June 23, 2014 by ten-a-penny
RyanBurnsRed
Maybe totally random, but maybe because GTA:SA doesn't support Windows 8? I run it on Windows 7. No problems for be expect lag (which is normal, very small laptop that doesn't matches the least requirement, of course lag will happen) That's not it. Windows 8 runs on the exact same kernel as Windows 7. I just tried to install the game after getting a new PC, the OS being Windows 8. I installed it, tried to launch it, and now it doesn't work. It shows the disc icon spinning to show that the game is loading, but after about five seconds it goes away and nothing comes up. No black screen or anything. Not in compatibility mode or anything, but just double clicking on setup. Have you also tried running it as administrator? Sometimes with old games, they will see our newer processors as older processors. For instance, when I played Star Wars Jedi Academy, the game was seeing my Core i5 760 as a Pentium III... Sometimes these games will falsely identify your CPU as an older CPU that would not support the game. I'm not entirely sure if that's related to what you're experiencing though as I've never experienced it myself. I've never heard of anyone having problems with the Steam version, but you can't play SA:MP with the Steam version...
