White Rabbit [Setting PvP Lures & Traps]

Recommended Posts

In dog racing, the beasts are let loose to chase after a faux rabbit, usually nicknamed Rusty, Spot, or Fluffly.
The dogs never catch Rusty, yet their bloodlust and desire to overcome him is insatiable.

IMG_8735-thumb.jpg

In the film, Saving Private Ryan, they used a vehicle, called the Rabbit (real name was the Kleines Kettenkraftrad HK 101), to taunt tanks and lure them to chase into a deadly trap.

Do you ever find yourself setting traps for other players?
Do you ever posture yourself in a place where you know a player will come hunting?
Do you ever use your vehicle to taunt and lure players into a chase you know they can't win?

For me, I do it all the time. It's maybe the most fun, recreational and interactive thing I do in this game.

I'd be interested to learn new ways to pull this off, if you'd care to share your tips or strategies.

My typical one is to climb atop an Ammunation and pose like I'm inside.
Almost everytime, within a minute, some toolshed comes along looking for the easy meal, only to end up on the platter, themselves.

Just curious to learn new ways to squeeze life out of this game. Looking forward to reading! Cheers! ;)

ten-a-penny

I use traps only in DM's. Once I was hiding behind a car, threw a sticky only to get stuck at the car. Then I said f*ck it and added two on the walls nearby. Dude came running, falling in the trap perfectly

Needless to say..... I blew myself with him :bored:

Most of the traps I set are ignition bombs traps.

I also set traps on rooftops, where people are dumb enough to climb up even there's sticky bomb layed there while I lay down fire from above.

Day one of GTAO I had just finished that stupid race at te beginning of the game and was headed to meet up with a friend in the wear houses. My friend was like "dude you got some one chasing you". I let the guy catch then bolted agian just to make sure. He was guns a blazing. I told my buddy to hide in a ally I was on my way to him. So I finally get to said ally. My dude was waiting I busted the corner and jumped out of my ride. The chaser made the dumb mistake of following me in and had his ass handed to him like 8 times before he rage quit....

Great thread here, that ammunation trap sounds dynamite why have i not thought of that! I love luring people with the promise of a bounty, i have an amazing position i think you would enjoy, it always results in multiple contacts and its a great spot

Bait and lure is a basic military ambush tactic, if we had proximity mines or tripwires based claymore, this would be the way we would play.

Rare vehicles with stock paint jobs are the best ignition bomb trolling you could do. W/ insurance or course, the daemon, Karin sultan are great ones.

For some reason people still use cars as cover....sticky bomb fun, ftw.

Parking garages are particularly fun.

If your cover retreating and they tend too go too where you last were leave them a present. Make sure too wish them a merry Christmas.

The exploding bridge, three stickies placed across a strip of pavement, as a retreat area.

Suicide tanker call merry Pegasus for a tank place 5 stickies at back now watch if tank gets moved click....

Bigrig + trailer fun 4 stickies on the trailer and get them to chase you right directional too release trailer then detonate.

Just wish are stickies had a little blip.

Apartment fun. Fly unto of one of the apartments set spawn too last location, great way too grief apartment greeters.

During the billionaire days, i used to play "bait car" with my JB 700. Bait car is a tv show where cops use specially rigged cars to catch car thieves. In my case, i used a remote bomb. I'd leave the car parked in a spot outside LSC and stand on the roof of a nearby building. Within a few minutes, someone would steal the car and i'd blow it up after they left the parking lot. One time someone put a bounty on me after i killed them and i was chased by a few people for a minute or 2 and one of them killed me. I called MMI and got the car back and drove into LSC to put another bomb on it. As i spawned out, some idiot spawn killed me and stole the car. As i respawned, he drove past me in my JB 700 acting like it was his trophy. I took great pleasure in detonating the remote bomb on his dumb ass

I could have made a montage out of the ignition bomb traps I executed during the $$$ days.

If I'm bored I'll sometimes booby-trap the HPV with a sticky bomb, but these days I generally deliver the cars myself.

For GTA race.. If I'm in first place, I would put all 5 stickies next to a checkpoint while i'm going full speed (No stopping) also the stickies are spread out so there's more of a chance to get them

Then I make sure to enlarge my map and keep track where that check point is while i'm still driving. Once a group of racers go over that check point I DETONATE MUAHAHAHA. HOOORAY for unlimited range of stickie remote

I'm not going to lie, i'm not good at this. maybe 2 out of 5 times it actually works.

Technically it's not the "white rabbit" you're speaking of but.. It's something clever I never see anyone else doing ^^

Thank you! That's another thing I enjoy doing... intentionally getting a bounty placed on me by an NPC (which can be hard to do, sometimes!) and then use that bounty as the bait for, as you said, people looking for the promise of a bounty kill.

But please, do share about this amazing position I might enjoy! Doubtful we'll ever meet online, so you're fairly safe in sharing.

My favorite place is actually across the street from the Ammunation down beside the overpass ramp. There's a long alcove beside it that has only one way in and no way to shoot down into. Every single time I've set up there, I plant stickies at the entrance, the knuckwad coming after me falls for it. I chortle with tickled delight every time I see them or their vehicle just go POP in a burly whisp of explosive glory! HA!! ;)

Once I played a DM that was specifically designed to be a trap to the opposing team.
It was at the airport and weapons were restricted to colectibles only, the opposing team(probally the ones who created the DM) make their way to the guns by jumping in a specific spot our team couldn't find, one of them got a buzzard and killed us all, them we respawned in dead end, without any weapons while they were secured behind a big fence were they kept killing us with the weapons specifically placed at their reach.
I've managed to quit while they killed my friends and I reported the DM. I've never been soo pissed in that game before...

...And also inspired, that gave me some ideas...

I always place sticky bombs around corners and run away, since people usually try to challenge you if you're not behind cover.

How about a trap that takes some balls: Go off radar when someone is watching you. Then walk towards them like people do when they leave the game. When you get close enough stab them.

The HPV remote/ignition bomb

Getting tanks to chase you while a friend then steals said tank

Alternately starting a conversation with a tanker via text or xbl message and then steal tank when they are reading it or sending me another one

Once had tank griefer in a session who was being dyke. Anyways I noticed his tank was at the point of being destroyed so I shot an rpg at him you know the old Battlefield trick shoot at the tank get their attention. Anyways I went to an alley and I had rigged a car next to it with 5 stickies. As he came I hit the switch and watch his tank blew up.

(This is when someone follows me)I go in a clothes shop and kill the person at the cash register. I then take out my rpg and wait for them near the side. When they get near the outside the door KABOOM there dead.

I always put a sticky underneath my car and any vital corners when I'm about to go in a shop (ammu, clothes, haircut, etc)

Then I always check the map before going out to see if anyone is waiting. If they are, well there's 5 places including the car that will blow up ^^. Chances are pretty high they picked a corner that has a sticky on it MUAHHAAA

I'd like to bump this since it's a tactic that works best for people trying to rush you. Also, I suck at PVP. So, traps are good for this. The guy above was asking about proximity mines - we have em.

When I'm being chased, I like to go down really thin alleys and plant proximity mines. Would that make me the white rabbit?

If I goto one of my sniping spots w/ladder a proximity mine is placed, and 2 sticky bombs in locations where I can be sniped from. lol

then a buddy will set a bounty on me and just wait for those who think they are bounty hunters lol

One of my favorite traps was going underground and standing in a tunnel that made it look like i was in the middle of the street on the radar. Friend gets on top of a building a quarter mile away with a good view and places a bounty on me. As people show up looking for the bounty they get sniped seemingly out of nowhere. Good times

Ha, yeah.

1) Posing as an AFK player in the corner street.

2) Drive up to a LSC and try to make my dot seem as though I've went in the garage (they drop their guard I hopes of waiting you out).

3) Bounty Bait, normally always mount more kills on those that give chase and Its nearly impossible to take my bounty if I'm in a car because #4. Bounty Bait works great with the Insurgent (gun variant).

4) Drive close to dots that are in a car, in hopes they start chasing. Once they do, I take a couple of corners and get out and wait for them.

Those are my more common ones.

1- I often make me chase players to some deserted place so that i can kill without police interfering too much.

2- My favorite is when i stick a bomb in jet and then landing some where it will catch attention it always works as some one will always try to fly as soon as they are airborne they try to kill me but then you all know the rest.

3- Using proximity mines for chasing enemies is fun too...

4- Sniping i take a unique vantage point typically the other player after dying will spawn within my range as i am already in aim mode there is almost little to no chance that he will aim and shoot before he knows he is dead.

but obviously i have felt to some tricks too where i didn't realized that a 4 or 5 players tag team on me.

Uncle Sikee Atric

The other day I was in a clothes store and notice an Insurgent has pulled up and blocked the door. The culprit gets out then starts air thrusting and taunting me while his brick blocks the door.

Anyway, he then causes a ruckus and the police arrive, one arriving cruiser nudges the brick a little, so I can just edge out of the door and select stickies.... With three now quietly placed on the front I retreat back and make it look like I am still trapped and the store stays open!

After a moment my captor returns to air-thrusting and eventually realises I am not bothered about being trapped so he gets back into the Insurgent and starts leaving....

Put it this way, pressing the button was worth 16K. :)

A few days back a crew of 3 went around killing people, tried it with me and I took em out

They went all vendetta like and just kept going for me, so I took to the roof where above the jewellery shop, where the mission is in SP

I would leave proximity mines in random places and they'll runk right into them

At one point I had 3 of them on a ledge not moving, so I threw loads of tear gas, it got them moving and right into a mine

I like to call it the "Heist Trap".

Kill 'em right after a heist. Super easy.

They'll still hire me anyway. I'm the best crew you can buy for 10%.

I really liked the suggestion someone made the other day of going under water in a submarine and watching jerks fly over in their Hydras looking for a scrap.

Granted it's not much of a trap as such, but it wastes their time so I think it's still a moral victory.

I need to use proximity mines more. Outside Eclipse Towers seems the obvious place.

Hope this helps,
