GTA vs Assassin's Creed Franchise

Well let's face it, even as a fan of GTA I have to admit that AC generally has better story and perhaps even better gameplay. GTA lets me play a criminal and that's why I like it more.

I would have bought AC IV only if i didn't hear that it was about the same people from the beggining of the franchise.

I guess one day, who knows when, i'll play them in order. I actually played Brotherhood and it wasn't that cool, but well.

Well, perhaps thats why concerning your previous response on "Rockstar vs Ubisoft", I added "I just wanted to see the results on GTAForums, though as the site is dedicated to gta, the results would be favorable to gta."in my above topic's post.

If you've played AC 2 then fine, if not you should give it a try. As it has the best story, in-game music and atmosphere.

I just wanted to put forward that you may get biased responses. I won't answer the poll because I never played AC, I'm not objective.

 

A game is more than gameplay and graphics, there's the emotional baggage that the player assimilated to it.

I think I say GTA. While it's a tough call, GTA wins for me for giving me more stuff and freedom. I play Ac because I like stealth, the have the historical element (I know a lot of stuff from Italian and American history only because of the AC series.) , and the stories are really good.

I've played all AC games and all main GTAs. This is honestly not a very good approach to comparing games. They are two very different games with very different intentions, presentation, and motives.

When you compare Need for Speed with Gran Turismo, that's okay. But you cannot compare Far Cry 3 with Fallout 3 and say "it's fair comparison, they're both open world shooters"

 

You named it "GTA vs Assassin's Creed Franchise" but didn't elaborate at all in the opening post. Is this a "which is better thread" or a "compare and contrast" or a "which do you enjoy more"

 

Just because GTA and AC follow the same formula (open world, mission markers, go to marker, see cutscene, do mission, complete) doesn't mean you can say "AC is better or GTA is better"

 

As for which story is better? That's not how the question should be phrased. The question should be "which story do you like better?" It's entirely a matter of opinion. I personally hate the futuristic sci-fi having buttsecks with ancient history storyline of Assassin's Creed...and which the Desmond subplot didn't exist or was more streamlined. But some people may like this.

 

Gameplay, again, is entirely a matter of opinion.

 

GTA relies on driving and shooting, all missions revolve around this, with some other missions introducing new set pieces (eye in the sky).

Main mode of transport is vehicle, and main combat is gun.

 

AC is about parkour and close-range combat. There are a few interesting set pieces as well.

Main mode of transport is the player's own legs, and main combat is sword.

 

There are two many grey areas in this thread I cannot give a sound answer. I apologize for my stupidity.

AC 1, 2, and Brotherhood were the best. Some parts of IV were cool, but otherwise it wasn't that good. I didn't like 3 at all. Revelations was pretty bland. I'm looking forward to Unity, but not Comet. Those are my thoughts on the franchise. I have to say Rockstar does a much better job with their games, as they don't dish them out every year like Ubisoft does. It gives them time to improve on the previous games more and to create something great. I don't hate AC, but Ubisoft should slow down and give more than a year for development time.
