Pressing "X" to go online from load screen

I have a friend that didn't get this game until January that presses "X" to get online from the main loading screen. I have tried it on DAY ONE, and learned that it "NEVER" works.

 

He does it and has been doing it since January and it "ALWAYS" works for him.

 

My PS3 is in good condition and doesn't freeze or hang up. His has the cover off and has MANY issues. His PS3 WILL NOT PLAY GTA V anymore but every other game is fine.

 

Does the "X" button cue online for you guys?

 

The triangle button does work for me to join the online playlist. I found the X still doesn't work when he came over today to see the update stuff and he pressed X and I asked in shock and disgust, "YOU PRESSED THE X WHY? THAT NEVER WORKS!" To which he replied "I always do..."

I have an Xbox and it works for me. Sometimes it can't load me into a session and transfers me to single player, but most of the time I don't have a problem with it.

Works for me, it just takes way longer than getting online through SP.

And you'll most likely get put in a session by yourself

It can cause character deletion and takes longer anyways. However it works for me.

Like others have said it takes the longest to get into online via that option, so it's only good if you press X/A then go get something to drink or something else to pass the time.

When I press X it says "Loading Online" then nothing happens from it. It has never made it past the thing circling around. I've smoked, gone on jogs and it never finished. Must just be my game. I was wondering. The general consensus tells me to continue on and not use it. I thought so. I wanted to make sure I didn't miss the "X" button being fixed. With the game not freezing I figured this would work too...

 

Funny some people were gifted money by hackers in the early days, or have seen UFO's in lobby's recently... I've seen none of it, and have been playing since day one. I can't complain though... I did get to see FOS V3.

it works for me in my ps3 but i never use that unless i feel like watching a loading screen for a good 10-15minutes!

I've used it a few times and regret it. seems like it takes twice as long.

I always go to SP then i will log online via my friends/crew session.

it never worked for me but i havnt tried in a few patches now, i always load single player and hold down arrow and switch to online character for best results.

I thought you were talking about me! My PS3 is the same, cover off, sounds a nuclear reactor.... Game randomly stopped working, only GTA.

 

I ended up doing a Database rebuild on the console as well as a formatting, and it plays like a charm now.

I'll tell my friend to do that too.. His system shows the rockstar logo the shooting, then it doesn't load anymore after that... Did yours do that. I already reinstalled my game almost two months ago. It would freeze in the SAME part of the city each time, so I knew it was a save file.

The condition of your console isn't the problem, if it doesn't work than it's your internet.

It takes longer that way so I've stopped doing it. Plus, you can't choose the type of lobby you want to go to that way.

It could take you 15 minutes to access online through this even if you have a perfect internet connection

it works for me ..But it take twice as long or longer to get into online play and 60% of the time its an empty lobby, i just load SP then go online its a lot quicker on PS3

works for me, but takes considerably longer to load than allowing SP to load and swapping character to get online.
