New dirty tactic in racing

I hate that. I also hate it when they spin you or push your car around. I enjoy the racing in the game, but I try to race clean. None of that blocking or hitting other races.

I was in a race a couple weeks ago with three members of one crew, can't remember the name, but two of them would try to spin me out, or block me, while the other would race off in 1st.

Blocking is a legitimate race tactic.

Blocking is maybe legit. But so is pitting a blocker.... :D

Everything is legit in GTA racing. People will ram and block you, that's just how it is. It's up to you to decide if you want to ram others and risk spinning out yourself, or pass them in the hopes they don't ram you. If you want clean racing, go play another racing game. If you popped in your GTA disc and expected to have a nice, clean race, you're an idiot.

Well to be honest.. Clean racers go faster.

And blocking only works well in tight straights. And with catch up ON... The guy in front will only keep his lead if he blocks.

I always expect clean races tho. Not sure why that would make me an idiot. :p

I have a pretty cheap tactic as well for people who race with catch-up on. I stay behind first place untill near the end and draft past first place to win. It's very effective.

Well, considering the way people race in GTA, always expecting a clean race is not exactly a realistic expectation. Unless you race with friends of course.

I always start off racing clean too, and will usually even let others pass me. But if I'm letting you pass me, and you purposefully swerve to ram me, then all the clean racing is out the window as far as that person goes. I'll only ram others if I'm certain I'm not going to spin out because of it though because there's nothing worse than ramming someone only to take yourself out in the process. I hardly ever do pit maneuvers because I fail at them too often, but if you've rammed me for no reason and I'm behind you in a corner, you bet your ass I'm gonna ram you right out of that corner and use you as a brake.

Well.. I actually see alot of clean racers in public races. I mean sure, i expect everyone to race clean but im not shocked when everyone races dirty. Its not my 1st time around the block..lol

Well, that stuff only works that easily on races with barely any turns. But thats where the BLOCK works well.

Yeah this is true, lots of people race clean. I always let others set the tone. If they race dirty, then I'll race dirty. Especially on races where there aren't many players, people tend to race cleaner because they're a little less "anonymous".

Thats pretty much my take on it.

I mean, i consider myself an above average/good racer. Which means im leaving most public racers in the dust even when i race like sh*t.

Even if people pit me, i still might not go for revenge unless its just to easy to pull off. But most of the time, i just don't care.. They end up just crashing anyways and i drive by with a quick "Honk Honk" on the horn.

Yeah I agree 100%.

Although on very rare occaisions I do feel like being an asshole and ramming others even if I can pass them. Ramming can be a lot of fun, and it's often difficult which can make it a "sport" in itself, even though it's usually not the best tactic. To be honest I don't care much at all about the agressive nature of racing in GTA. It's all in the game and if there's one game that suits it, it's GTA. I find it awesome when you start at the back of the grid, watch everybody crash in front of you and you manage to barely squeeze through to first place.

Ramming other people and watch them swirling sure is fun and make a good laugh, but I don't think the person who get rammed is actually enjoying that, that's why I don't do dirty race.

When I join random race and as soon as I see it's full of sh*ts moving in neon cars, I'm out.

Its probably because they were a crew, you wont find this tactic in a normal non- contact race with randoms often.

This...

I remember when I used to play the F1 games, & in 2011 I think it was, every lobby I would go in would be a "Crew" of spaniards or brazilians.

Long story short, if you got out in front & looked like you were going to win, they would have 1 guy wait for you to come around the track again & purposely try to crash you off lol.

In non contact stuff teams or crews will usually use 1 scapegoat to guarantee a win for the team.

Stick to organised racing, its much better.

This tactic applies in non-contact & standard racing with randoms. Every time in a race someone will intentionally hit light posts then it will fall on the road where you have no time to react to go around. If you don't, your car flips, depending in what car you're using, sometimes it'll spin out. I encountered this where a crew did exactly the same in Stadium Tour.

I find this extremely annoying because I race to win. Why do people have to ruin the fun in racing..

by winning, you ruin the fun of others (if they think like you)

IMO you don't always have to be super courteous in this game. You can do things to other people that they don't like, just because you feel like it. Personally not my cup of tea (usually), but it's just a game and I honestly can't get upset about a video game. My opinion is that if you feel like ramming me, by all means go ahead. I'm not gonna tell you how to play. But you can expect me to have it out for you afterwards.

The one thing that does get to me is people who completely ignore the race and start driving the wrong way just to ram people. There's nothing you can do to get back at them either because they obviously already don't care about winning either.

I think both of you misunderstood my point. Blocking is a legitimate tactic in racing. You can do it in F1 as long as the FIA doesn't see it as unfair blocking and I can guarantee you that there is no problem with it in racing series that aren't as strict. E.G. Rally X, US Stock Car racing, ect...

Pitting on the other hand isn't a legit tactic and is only used by over grown babies that can't race... Not targeting any series in particular...

OP that was the best known strategy in GTA 4 racing.

Lol... No the best thing to do in GTA 4 was block the highway 1 way through the marker with a bus, stand on top with traffic on near the SMG & blast all racers out their car in GTA race, leaving them unarmed and respawning within range getting beasted

Ahhh the good old days :D

I've noticed another tactic in non contact races that involves the player ahead of you in a race driving on the wrong side of the road so that the traffic swerves to the left in front of you.

So the point here is that GTA Racing is sh*t? Anything but Non-contact is a complete joke in this game. Besides people purposely trying to pit you, people will even screw you up because they drive like sh*t. I refuse anything but Non-contact.

IMO you should only pit someone if they try to pit you or they have.

I mentioned that unfair blocking isn't a legit tactic. While I specifically related it to the FIA and more specifically to F1 you can still apply it to other racing series.

Lol at people who think pitting is a legal tactic... Not it is not. If you have to pit a guy to beat him, you are point blank an unfair racer.

Blocking is a grey area, purposely brake testing people is a no-no, but blocking an overtake without hitting the guy is fine, sending people to the outside is of course fine.

Pitting people is just dirty, & pretty much if pitting a guy is how you win then you clearly are not very good at racing.

Blocking is "getting in some ones way"... Basically using your car to stop someone from passing.. If you try to block at the wrong time you end up setting your self up for a pit

So its not dirty if thats how it plays out. If you set yourself up for a collision it is what it is..

Also.. blocks can be just as dirty. As in dive bombing a turn and cutting off the racers with the better line in and getting a instant block. That can cause crashes and pitting too.

I mean, i try my best not hit anyone... Especially my racing crew. But in pub racers if players lay it out like im just gonna roll with it.
