New dirty tactic in racing

This tactic applies in non-contact & standard racing with randoms. Every time in a race someone will intentionally hit light posts then it will fall on the road where you have no time to react to go around. If you don't, your car flips, depending in what car you're using, sometimes it'll spin out. I encountered this where a crew did exactly the same in Stadium Tour.

I find this extremely annoying because I race to win. Why do people have to ruin the fun in racing..

Its probably because they were a crew, you wont find this tactic in a normal non- contact race with randoms often.

I can't imagine anyone reaping benefits from mowing down light posts unless they are working together

Has always happened. I really don't think most people are doing it intentionally though.

If you race to win, then get out in front and stay there, no poles in first place.

There were 8 of us, 4 in the same crew downing light poles. It was horrible.

I hate that. I also hate it when they spin you or push your car around. I enjoy the racing in the game, but I try to race clean. None of that blocking or hitting other races.

I was in a race a couple weeks ago with three members of one crew, can't remember the name, but two of them would try to spin me out, or block me, while the other would race off in 1st.

I noticed that far too often, I'd get into random lobbies with players and crews intentionally trying to ruin it for everyone else. That's why I make friends with other clean racers as soon as I meet some.

If you really enjoy racing that's the way to go. More fun and a lot less frustration, if any at all.

What I noticed is this tactic has been happening lately & some of the people who do it are the ones with illegitimate race records of somewhere around 3000 wins & less than 500 losses. But most are crews.

Cool idea, thanks for the tip OP!

I hope I never run into you in a race. :)

Simple solution to avoiding harmful falling objects during races:

BE FIRST.

Thank you. I'm here all weekend if you need me.

Don't follow their paths? Lol pretty cool tactic. i stick to crashing, but lightpost crashing? I can't do that yet not sure if I will. I probably stick to ramming.

You could also follow closer that way you drive under the lightpost as it's still falling or something.

Since most people never turn catch-up off, being first is the last thing you'd want to happen in most races. I'll never understand the logic of punishing someone who's dominating others. :panic:

I had a 16 player Dipping In where I was way ahead so they put players at intervals to ram me. The guy they figured was there fastest was actually a pit boss using an Elegy. I still almost won. After the race I was 10 seconds faster than their best guy and that's with Catch Up ON!

It makes me feel bad for the guys who need to feed losses to let their loser Crew boss win. I would love to have a team member that would do that for me, but I certainly wouldn't ask for it. I would push to get them to beat me.

so people will ask for a non-light post race, we will race on the flat surface like the airport runway

oh wait, airport have lights on the floor that will flip you too, there should be a white out room like those in Matrix so we can race there

In a non-contact race with traffic on, I managed to hit three NPC cars which were pushed into my path by others - very annoying!

But not as annoying as trying to work out which cars I could drive through and which to avoid, so I'd recommend traffic off when doing non-contact.

I've personally found that on a couple of tracks, the best way to take a corner is through a lamp post. That it hampered the paths of the drivers behind me was an unexpected bonus.

Easy solution to your dilemma though. Be First. All of the time ;)

Well, it's hard to stay first for the entire race when you start in the middle or rear of the group.. lol

You're saying it wrong. The motto of all GTA0 racers / assholes is "I hope I run into you in a race." And they do. :p

Blocking is a legitimate race tactic.

I would say that is a totally legit tactic, and a pretty awesome one at that.

Blocking is maybe legit. But so is pitting a blocker.... :D

there is no catch-up in non-contact

hitting every obstacle in your way just seems like a sure fire way to lose a race if you ask me. XD

Everything is legit in GTA racing. People will ram and block you, that's just how it is. It's up to you to decide if you want to ram others and risk spinning out yourself, or pass them in the hopes they don't ram you. If you want clean racing, go play another racing game. If you popped in your GTA disc and expected to have a nice, clean race, you're an idiot.
