unless you really are a hipster fag and just jumped the EDM bandwagon you should know that many of these genres now being lumped together under the EDM moniker have been around for a long long time.

all the genres it encompasses are way too different for any1 to realistically like them all.

unless you actually are a hipster and just like EDM because it's the hip thing to do.

It's a common misconception to think that all people who like EDM are hipsters. I love EDM ever since I was a kid. I love Techno, Trance, House and other various styles of EDM. I always have and always will. Also, you should see the way I'm dressed. It doesn't look like hipster clothes. It looks like "I don't care how I dress, as long as I'm not naked or dirty".

it's just that IMO EDM is a stupid silly hipster term

all these genres existed for a long time in some form or another and didn't need to be lumped together into some easily consumable package.

they all come from various different subcultures from all around the world and each one is about as different as it is similar.

it doesn't tell you anything!

 

and that's one of the reasons why I'd say no I don't need an EDM station as it will most likely focus on the new trend as opposed to actually go into any of the actual genres that make up EDM

The evolution isn't doing any good though. To me at least, older electronic music sounds more unique. Even when comparing to other tracks within their time. Nowadays, the beats

sound generic and err.. robotic or douchey for some reason. They lack that ibiza summertime party vibe that was just excellent up till the mid 2000's.

but hey maybe it's just my old european ass seeing many of these genres as being irreconcilable or something because of the subcultures that created them

some I really don't like which could explain me not liking them being lumped in with the ones I do.

im a retired DJ...my main genre was Dark Deep trance...some slower goa/psy...low freqs...preferred to be under 130 BPM

I would love an EDM station. The return of Electro Choc from GTA IV would be nice. I think a lot of you guys are thinking EDM is just skrillex, dubstep, and trap music....While that is only a small portion.

 

I'd love some Deep House, Progressive House, and Trance. (Tiesto, Nicky Romero, Hardwell, Calvin Harris, Nervo, Deadmau5, Kaskade, etc...)

 

Anyone who thinks EDM is strictly Skrillex and ear-piercing dubstep, clearly knows nothing about it.

Also, since Nicky Romero is known to be a huge GTA V fan, let him host the radio station. Win-win situation. After all, he's in the Top 10 DJs of 2014.

And those that think GTA V has good music, wow......There's only 2 good stations, classic Hip-hop and Radio Mirror Park. Everything else (especially Fly-Lo and Lowdown) is just absolutely awful.

 

Example of some deep-house that would be nice.
