The Funktipus - All The Best Funk - Get Da Funk In

Recommended Posts

Hahaha why long as hell? It's never too long when it's worth it.

I didn't pay attention to how long they were before I heard them other than Hood Pass Intact and Killdat aka Killdatmuthaf*cka (The latter is on GTA V on Worldwide FM), there's 24 songs and more than half are 5+ minutes (One of them is almost 10 minutes).

Double post.

The Pharcyde sampled this in Passin' Me By and several artists as well.

It really doesn't matter, some Disco gets posted here as well.

But overall, some good tracks right there, I completely forgot about that B.T. Express song and the album.

I don't know if it was already posted before but... funk it! I love the Gap Band. They were one of those funky bands with that party feel in their music. GTA San Andreas memories with You Dropped A Bomb On Me. I actually heard it first in the Next Friday movie around the years 2000 or 2001.

I Don't Believe You Want To Get Up And Dance (Oops, Up Side Your Head) - Snoop's Up Side Your Head.

I pity the fool who doesn't get down to this.

I love the bass line. This track is purely early 80's.

I remember a Con Funk Shun song was on that movie, this one, at the beginning.

Ohio Players Funky Worm was on there too, as well as Mtume's Juicy Fruit, which both has been on a GTA (Bounce FM and Fever 105).

Oh yeah yeah I posted it a few months ago. I think the song was played right after the intro. The scene Debo got out of jail or broke out (I don't remember) and was looking for Graig. There was also the scene with that tiny dog.

Fever 105 is in Vice City and it plays Juicy Fruit. Also can be heard in Next Friday. It's the intro of the 12'' Extended Version. I thought back then that it was a brand new beat. Funky Worm is in San Andreas. Mtume has another track in GTA 4. I think it's Prime Time or You Me and He. Oh man I'm getting so nostalgic.

I believe you're thinking of "C.O.D. (I'll Deliver)." That was the Mtume song in GTA IV. It was on The Vibe 98.8.

Rodney Lynn "Rod" Temperton (October 1947 – September/October 2016) was an English songwriter, record producer, and musician from Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, England. He initially made his mark as the keyboardist and main songwriter for the R&B funk/disco band >>>Heatwave<<< before writing several internationally known songs performed by Michael Jackson, including mega-hit "Thriller" as well as "Off the Wall", "Rock with You," and numerous others. His death from cancer was reported by his publisher on 5 October 2016, stating that he had died in the previous week and his funeral had already taken place.

Mr. Temperton "The Invisible Man" or Funky Groovy Rod, like I like to call him, was not really known by the mainstream public but among soul, funk and disco lovers, like me, he is. To me his works are phenomenal and he was a very talented songwriter and musician.

>>>May his funky groovy soul rest in paradise<<<

Here's a interesting and well documented 60 minutes interview of this unknown genius of music.

I feel like Graham Central Station kinda created their own subgenre in the mid '70s that can only be described as "power gospel" and it's amazing.

Larry's one bad ass bass player. I have one or two 45's of his band and his solo LP "Sooner Or Later" from 1982. I'm a sucker for the synth sound of the early 80's :p

A few soul funk tracks from the successful and dying disco era.

Funny movie featuring Richard Pryor, The King of Comedy :) the super fine Pointer Sisters, and other well known actors.

Galactic P-Funk Chicks

The juicy fruit people are one of my all time favorite band.

Bonus for ya'll Funkateers

Jazz, funk, and R&B icon talks about his lengthy career at the 2014 Red Bull Music Academy in Tokyo

Can't get any funkier than this here. The most dangerous gunslinger out there, music-wise.

Woods Empire sounds familiar to me but I never heard that track before. It's dope :music:

Some 80's Afro Funk

From his "Distant Lovers" LP (Nigeria 1984)

From her "Nigeria Go Survive" LP (Nigeria 1985)

(It's an unofficial remix in great quality and not too different from the original version)

From their "No No Señor" LP (South Africa 1986)

Wow! I'm impressed! Thanks. :)

Also, is that your collection? It looks beautiful. I hope you have good home security and lots of fire-retardant materials in your house to keep all that history safe!

No it isn't mine. It belongs to the synth cat :pp

Oh man... there were times that when I was on a vacation, I thought about that. The only things I would have hoped the robbers wouldn't take would be my record collection. Same goes for the fire :panic:

Oh yes.

Dope track. First time I heard it it was in a mix with various unknown and hard to find 80's boogie funk. I thought that it sounded just like a genuine 1984 Synth Boogie.

Ameega is a really loving Funkateer. Member of the french copyright company SACEM, he is also a performer and choreographer. Born in Madagascar in 1964, he settles down in France in 1983. At the end of the 1970's he starts writing songs in an intense, compulsive and prolific way. He is also the founder of many Funk, Boogie, Soul and Tenor bands since 1980 in Madagascar and 1983 in France. He formed the band Ameega in 2002 whom he still performs with. He's stage name is AMIGA whereas his name as a producer is AMIGA LOBA.

Some more 80's Funk

This is a fairly new song, but feels like it fits here. Nice track from Lyrics Born, probably known as one half of Latyrx.

Here's a couple mixtapes with some great tracks.

I'm actually looking to ID the first one in this track. First one, that runs from intro to roughly 01:15. Any ideas?

It seems to be a remix of Mellow Mellow Right On, but doesn't quite have the same feel as the Cherokee version, so I'm curious if theres a mix of Mellow Mellow out or if Cherokee made a version just for the mixtape.
