Its a glitch. i had the same thing happen to me. its still the same rooftop rumble guys.

enter the mission,

get raped by cops,

Last night I joined a round of RR. It kept filling up with players and eventually eleven joined! Nevermind that it froze and never started, that was weird.

speaking of game glitches, today has been super chocked full of them for me.

 

let me tart by saying i like to join random contact missions from my phone

 

today i only had time to play about 6 or 7 missions, the first one being about an hour after i started trying to jump into one

 

1st attempt> timed out trying to get into the pregame lobby>left game to dashboard

2nd attempt> same as above

3rd attempt> got into the pregame lobby, was for some mission that had a max of 4 players but dont remember which one, but there were 8 players in the lobby> game tried to load the mission but it got stuck, 2 people left after about 5 minutes, i left a couple minutes after that> restarted to dashboard

4th attempt> got into pregame lobby for rooftop rumble, don't remember what the max player is for it, but there were 6 of us that joined, and waited for it to load, it never did like above so i dashboarded out

5th attempt> finally got into some random mission (you have to get a trailer from merryweather security under a suspension bridge) i called up a cargobob and snatched up the trailer, flew it to the drop off at lesters warehouse, flew off to grab a semi, came back, another random i was with appeared out of nowhere on top of the trailer (this one was with the other 2 at the trailer spawn point the entire time, i was making sure they weren't going to try and sabotage me) and the game was lagging like crazy>after about 5 minutes of the trailer being in the correct place and not moving the game said we passed it

 

after this everything seemed normal? and the rest of the missions went fine

i always thought rooftop rumble was the work of a disgruntled employee. somebody at rockstar didn't agree with the whole lets take the fun out and make this about cash cards approach to missions. so they switched the name of the mission and made it an easy cash farm for players. rockstar being rockstar caught on and have now fixed that issue by changing the entire mission and disabling replay and share cash.

I'm more concerned about why you're doing Rooftop Rumble on normal.

 

I've noticed this with a few missions. Quiting the joining screen will bounce you into free-roam and the back into the correct joining screen.
