Nobody wants to do freeaim because they'd much prefer to be guided in their sh*tty kills. Sad really. I miss the Max Payne like deathmatches.

People are having an irrelevant discussion. It has nothing to do with it being easier to switch from AA to FA. This is about matchmaking. As many people pointed out, it's impossible to find sessions with more than just a few people. It was before 1.14.

So, it's one of either:

1. Matchmaking problems.

2. A huge amount of people decided to switch from FA to AA since 1.14 was launched.

To those who think it's the second possibility: what would have made people take this decision?

Free aim was fine before. Not as populated as AA, but it was no problem. Switch session one or two times and you had a perfectly good session. It's not like that anymore, far from. JCPH3, you might have only gotten an average of 3,7 over 5 days, but try doing the same experiment now. Do it, and then come back and eat your words.

A lucky night for you doesn't mean there is no problem. It's obvious that there is a big free aim matchmaking problem since 1.14 patch and same sh*t goes for everyone else.

It's not a matchmaking problem, its an interest problem. No one is interested in Free Aim! That's not new.

I play in Free Aim all the time when I'm doing Buzzard Missions or grinding Coveted, back in April I did a test and recorded the number of people in the lobby each time I checked in. Over 5 days the average was 3.7 , including myself.

Just like IRL the Amish are very small % of the overall population

Bullsh*t. I was in full servers on a consistent basis before the last update.

I would love to play free aim, you can drive or fly past someone without being immediately killed. It's just a shame that auto aim is the default and that's all I play since I can actually find people to play with.

Thats the main reason i play FA. To avoid stupid AA lock ons. But as i said i have to stay in AA to actually get races.

So basically i have to use AA whether i like it or not. And im sure im not alone on this.

Thank god you brought up the free aim vs. auto aim debate. It's rarely discussed on gaming forums.

Last I checked, Max Payne is still available.

I have to do the same thing. You're not alone at all (unless you're in an FA lobby :) )

I prefer the actual challenge of FA. Once I learned how to score headshots every time on AA, it got boring pretty quick.

I don't understand why

I tried out free aim the other day and all it was was tanks and miniguns. Absolute garbage.

Yep. Spray and pray is how they roll in free-aim.

Take away explosives and you'd see a fair difference.

And Stevie Wonder could shoot someone in AA, but I digress. (And there's never going to be a winner in the Aim Wars, so I don't know why we bother to debate it.)

The fact that you have to go into SP to change your aim preference is crap. Why hide the option? Why not just let us select it from the phone like in IV, or before joining a session like in RDR and MP3?

The people in this forum know where to go to change their aim mode, but what about the other 90+% of the online players? The default is AA, so they never change the setting. Hell, they probably don't even realize that there's a separate world of FA players. They just stick the disk in the system and join a lobby.

They force you to go to SP because if you are in a FA lobby and you go to your phone and change to AA you are now AA in a FA server. The servers themselves are segregated and to change you have to leave and enter a new one. An option that I think would work nicely though is when you go to your online menu and choose to go to a new session it should have a prompt asking FA or AA. Then you could quickly switch and it would be in everyones face as an option.

Also to answeranother point made earlier...races have GTA mode available so they have to segregate those as well.

This should also work like that for private sessions.. Im not sure why we have to go back to single player to start a private session.

The loading screens are killing me...lol

Reason three...hiests delayed again...lots of people are throwing their hands up and moving on. It would be a lot more noticeable in FA as there were fewer to start with. However, I do aagree that there has to be more than 16 people playing and if the system was working correctly it would try to fill up low pop servers before dropping you in a new empty one.

It has to be matchmaking that's f*cked up. I can't see all of the FA players bailing because of the hipster update.

Nobody wants to play FA because its dead not because FA is hard.

Misunderstood

I don't get why rockstar didn't just make Online free aim. Sure, if you guys want to play GTA V story mode with auto aim, go ahead but the second they jumped into online, it should have all been free aim. I love playing on free aim and have been playing free aim in GTA IV and RDR. I am forced to play with AA in GTA V because nobody plays in FA and the majority don't even know it exists. I mean, come on, most of the big games are free aim anyways (with a big of assisted aiming ofc). Look at Battlefield, COD, The Last Of Us, Uncharted and more. They should have made the only online aiming setting free aim or better yet, just allow us to play with each other no matter the aim preference because right now, the lobbies are split up unevenly between AA and FA.

It really sucks. The matchmaking is just so bad it's unbelievable. In the millions of GTA V sold you are going to make me believe that not a single person is playing free aim? Rockstar need to put their sh*t togheter. It's f*cking ridiculous.

This is what I meant I just worded it poorly. That's how it worked in IV, and RDR and MP3 had similar options as well.

I also stand by my statement that the majority of players don't know FA exists because the default setting is AA. We here at GTAF know what's what, and we may think we speak for a majority of players, but with 32 million copies sold and only 500,000 members on GTAF we make up less than 2% of players.

Sorry for the double post, the quote was removed from my original and I couldn't figure out how to add it in the edit.

I can't even do a quick job deathmatch in free aim. it just starts a random DM lobby and puts me there by myself.

I would do lots of free aim deathmatches and captures, but I want to leave auto-aim on for missions (because of the annoying number of enemies and just a tiny bit of extra RP for way more effort) and I want to leave it on for freemode because I want to hang out with my friends who use autoaim

the obvious solution would be to just make it selectable in the lobby screen like any other setting.

it already keeps you from changing a normal to a team DM and vice versa once the first invites have been sent out. you could do the same for aim preference. adjust the payouts too and voila, people will give it a chance and maybe like it

Don't be silly! That's far too easy and sensible. Got to bitch and moan about things.

Probably the solution for the time being.

I see your point and in theory it could be the reason, but I don't believe it. It wouldn't be a sudden change like this is if people actually decided to just leave the game alone. The amount of players would gradually fall; one day it takes one try to get in a full free aim session, the next it takes three tries, the third day it will take five tries, and so on. What we're experiencing here is that 90% (number I made up, you understand my point) decided to leave. *Snap*, just like that, right after a pretty big update. New cars to try out, loads of new clothing, races and so on. I can't believe this is the reason.

Yeah, I'm often all alone in FA sessions. I didn't mind it much the first 2 times, as it gave me the chance to explore the DLC but now it's constantly and quite annoying.

Guess it's another "bug" that will be fixed in 1 15......

This will in no way resolve the real problem. And I'm not looking to go through the work of making a crew, let alone recruiting players to one. I just want to play with other players, like I should be able to.

Is there a problem or are most people now in private sessions after the stuff about the hacks/mod's that could supposedly take your cash, RP and weapons?
