New RR/Coveted method.

ten-a-penny

I'm tired for going to GTAF and only finding people complains about how they "nerfed" RR and Coveted. So I made this thread for a good tactic/strategy to do the two missions with ease, Solo and on Hard difficulty.

Hopefully this will stop the "BAWWW C* made RR moar chalengeng and i sak at des gam i kant do et even doght its to eesy sam as coveted BAWWWW" threads.

  • Rooftop Rumble:

Requires: not hitting the yellow marker until in right position, enough MG and Grenade Launcher ammo.

Start the mission as always, get in a fast car, drive to the bridge behind the parking lot. Avoid hitting the marker at all costs. Once on top, park your car on the bridge, facing the back entrance of the lot. You'll see about 3 guards behind a Granger who can't see you. Take cover on the edge of the bridge, pull out your Combat MG and try landing a headshot on the three. Quickly shoot down the other guards to the very right behind the cars. If they did hide, don't panic and jump down. Just pull out your sniper of choice and snipe them down.

(Tip: when you can't see any body part there, just shoot somewhere nearby. That may make the guards pull out their hands and start shooting or raise their heads letting you headshot them).

After that its safe enough to jump out of the bridge and hide on the wall. Go to the left side and shoot the 2 guards guarding the front entrance then go the right side and shoot the lone guard on the right front entrance. Then out of cover and roll to the right shooting the single enemy behind the car (Fugitive or whatever its called). Now its safe to get inside to trigger the marker.

Quickly get back on the bridge and pull out your Heavy Sniper and try headshot-ing the incoming Fugitive.

Now face left (with your camera) to make the document driver spawns and drive past you. Right when you see the feed face him and headshot him fast. Now just grab the document and get in your car and haul ass to Martin. just ignore the poor reinforcement that just arrived.

In-case the driver drove past and you didn't kill him: Jump in your car, drive past him and, while looking back, try headshot-ing him. The new 'Vintage Pistol' should do it as its not that powerful to blow up the car and all you need is one headshot to end the hassle. Now just drive back to Martin....

"No Patricia! No, No! I'm playing Golf, golf! FORE! You're being Hysterical."

  • Coveted:

Requires: Heavy Sniper ammo, Good timing, good sniping skills.

optional: Play it on Night settings so you can see the Maverick clearly, having a suppressed regular Sniper.

Its like back ol' Coveted. Just with more people to kill. Anyways....

First kill the nearby enemy with the first parked Granger nearby. Then start hunting down the enemies with the Heavy Sniper (or a suppressed Regular Sniper to avoid alerting the guards) after that. Now pay attention to this.... Sometimes you can see a barrel, usually either yellow or red, right? These contain gas and shooting it 3 times will make it explode. Behind some crates/boxes there's at least one barrel. Shoot these 2 times to make it explode, blowing up nearby cars if any and killing anyone near the blast.

If you're using the Heavy sniper, try shooting the left side of the Grangers, directly near the rear wheel. Shooting the left side o the rear wheels will cause it to explode after two direct shots. Use that to your advantage if you can't see the barrels, and some of the guards usually hide behind them if they heard you.

After it has been cleared a bit grab the Granger and drive a bit down the hill until you can clearly see the container. Now get out and snipe the people over there. Now there's another yellow barrel there- same tactic. Shoot it 3 times to blow it up, killing all three people. Now head back to the Granger and drive down. Note that you may not killed everybody.

Now hit the marker and kill any surviving enemies before the Cargobob comes. While waiting for the chopper blow up the parking Grangers by the other hill just for safety. Once the chopper landed kill the pilot and pick up the container and drop it on the hill where the Cargobob landed. Now after dropping the container and the chopper in a safe place take out your Heavy Sniper and search for the Maverick. Once you spot it keep shooting it until it explodes. It may empty 2 mags though. (P.S: 1. trying to snipe the pilot won't work for no unknown reason. 2. its not necessary to let the Mav close)
Now that the chopper is destroyed get back in the Cargobob and take the container to the drop-off point.

Now you're $18.000 richer.

Inb4TL;DR:

RR: don't hit marker, park up on bridge, Combat MG this, Heavy Sniper that, Carbine Rifle these, enter parking lot and exit to trigger mark, kill enemy reinforcement in front of you, Combat MG the driver, if drove away then Vintage Pistol him, haul ass to Martin. "Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!"

Coveted: snipe this, snipe that, drop container and chopper nearby, Heavy Sniper incoming maverick, have your ass bored flying now.

Its WAY too easy and more fun doing these missions. Its just that some people lack brain cells to realize that its basically the same, only in different method (except for Coveted which is longer instead)

EDIT, fixed some typos and removed some unnecessary details such as using the RPG in Coveted.

RR: for a start I drive by the right side of building to trigger the 'take profis out'. I continue driving around the building and place car at the beginning of the road, at the corner (bridge side). Then take grenade launcher and blow up granger at the second entrance. Then shoot the rest with gunfire. The wall gives enough cover. The rest like OP said.

Though if you hit the marker and killed people the backup may come to you and you're not that ready. That's why I prefer not hitting the marker first then attacking them.

+ with my rooftop rumble playlist, I always start next to the parking garage. This should help nicely now

How do I get this playlist?

And having a buzzard saves you a ridicolous amount of time and money on RR

Nope. If you hit the marker by driving by and around the corner it saves you time. I do the rest from the bridge side and don't have to run to the marker later.

For RR I just go to the far right corner near the train tracks and machine gun everyone steadily. No need to spend on explosives or run to the bridge. I never get killed unless I completely zone out.

For Coveted, again no need to spend on RPGs, just snipe everybody, and to save time, don't bother with the helicopter that arrives after you pick up the crate, just head straight down the coast and it won't get near you till the last second when you should be dropping it off.

Also it's madness to do Coveted at night, it has to be noon with clear weather. You don't need to see the chopper that comes after you as you can 100% afford to totally ignore it.

Black Rabbit

Once my group is awaiting the Cargo-bob on Coveted, I take a Granger uphill and down the railroad tracks a bit. Maverick will spawn to the right of the mountain.

I'll take it down while the cargo-bobbers cargo-bob. A lot of the time, they'll have no clue where the Maverick went to.

I got a mission failed message saying "A professional was killed" It happened when i shot and killed a professional before entering the yellow circle that starts the mission.

Weird. I'm YET to fail RR, be it old or new. Only twice or 3 times (f*cking aimbots ever since launch).

Well this happened before they changed rooftop rumble, maybe it was a glitch they fixed.

For Coveted, I just bust it down the hill towards the road, call in my Buzzard and pick it up over at the Sandy Shores airfield; fly back just in time to "clear the landing zone," clean up the remaining enemies, let a teammate grab the 'bob and crate, then off to blow up the enemy chopper, then smooth sailing to the delivery point. Costs a lot less than sniper ammunition. :) This of course, assumes the other players are competent enough to use the 'bob and aren't complete morons.... which has happened before, of course. :/

Probably that's why I never had any problems then.

I never had any problems beating RR solo before until they upped that difficulty to the maximum. I got blown away in less than four shots by one professional and when i retried the mission again I was gunned down by a group of professionals in a drive by.

I tried the new coveted and there's now a timer to clearing out the enemies and I never made it passed that point so I don't know what happens afterwards but those missions got tough.

i hate doing RR with other people because theyre quick to fire. Once the NPCs scatter its a sh!t fest. You gotta go to the back north ally and (i like to minigun them) and aim for the head all the way on the right and swoop left. Youll nail all but 2 or 3, then run to the left side of the street and aim at the car coming from the south. Then pick the 3 off, head into your car, which should be parked in the alley facing west, shoot the car on the right and wait in front of the bridge. The car will spawn right there, kill him take the doc and be done. Should take 3 mins or less.

DJ Kornphlake

For RR, just park car in back alley, clear out the garage with AP Pistol (the ammo is cheap and range will target everyone inside), get back in PV, wait on bridge for document car to spawn, sideswipe him into a wall or telephone pole where he can't move for a moment and headshot him with the Heavy Pistol.

Updated the OP with some better tactics after getting the hang of the new missions.

Now, take in mind that the professionals will fire on-sight in RR, so you need to ignore hitting the marker completely if you want to follow my tactic.

It's not a joke though. Technically, Cash Cards are quicker and easier to obtain than completing RR/Coveted, and even at the minimum level earn you more money. Nothing mentioned about affording one, however.

Shouldnt have to use explosives on either mission. RR, two guys in the alley, two on the other side. Clear them out fast with assault shotguns. When there's 2 professionals left, 2 guys jump in a car from either side and head to the bridge. Wait there for the package to spawn and boom, easy as pie. Have to leave someone back by the garage because sometimes if everyone chases the package before it spawns, the mission fails because they say "documents destroyed", even though technically they weren't.

I hardly ever use explosives in this mission after I got the hang of it.
