GTA V LAN

Hello folks,

since GTA V is coming to PC finally i'm thinking about the multiplayer a bit.

Well GTA Online has no offline multiplayer on consoles for obvious reasons (GTA IV didn't have it either)

but on PC i could consider a LAN-mode.

Well Rockstar included offline multiplayer in GTA 4 and Max Payne 3, do you think that Rockstar will include it in GTA V ?

Okay yes.. it's called GTA Online but wouldn't be a LAN-party freeroam in LS fun ? Quick action etc :D

I hope they will follow their line like they did in GTA 4 and MP3. :)

Tell me what you think.

Peace out.

Would be interesting. I'd consider getting a new GPU for my second PC for LAN lols.

And if you could co-op on SP missions, that would be awesome!

Yes. I host some small parties too and GTA V would be a very nice addition. Also when i'm tired of playing Online i always could play offline without having a client reporting every sh*t back to Rockstar.

And the client has the "Solo Play" and "Party" mode also included. It can't be that bad when they make them playable offline.

playing online currently on console is crappy due to bad connections and getting booted after 20 mins. LAN would be a great addition/option for those of us whom are cursed with bad rural internet.

Maybe you should add some arguments to supply your point instead of acting like a console peasant.

Btw:

GTA IV had LAN

Max Payne 3 had LAN

Now tell me why GTA V shouldn't have it. Just because it's called GTA "Online" ?

There is an option to play "Invite only" or in "Solo Session". Shouldn't be too hard to add local offline sessions without ranking and sh*t.

He was comparing GTA Online to WoW or similar MMORPGs which are of course online-only due to the idea behind it.

But GTA Online is NOT WoW. It may look similar but seriously no. GTA IV also had offline free roam.

But even WoW has LAN private servers.

Umm, but GTA Online is not MMORPG, so how can he compare it to WoW, Lineage, ...? World is not even near the size, nor pop size, nor have true RPG side.

And he could buy few commas if he is very good at engrish.

The world is big but indeed not big enough. Rockstar implemented RPG elements, thats true (ranking, missions, PvP-events) but that doesn't block out the free roam. :)

Also you were able to play missions/gamemodes in GTA 4 on LAN. You just weren't able to rank up.

I'd like it, but I doubt without a "GTA IV Mode" it'll ever see the light of day. Online has a bunch of information that needs to be updated each time you do anything.

A free-for-all mode where you got infinite cash, everything is saved and you can do anything you like sounds good in theory but Rockstar already knows how much money they'd lose on shark cards if they ever made a mod like that.

I'm also hoping that GTA V supports LAN too, because co-op plays with friends using LAN is so exciting and fun.

Not gonna happen in a million years, because you know hamachi, tunngle and sh*t

Unless your whole point is that you're going to pirate the game, why is Hamachi, Tunngle etc relevant?

Seems plausible to me, IV got LAN mode, why not V?

Because that would mean adding a multiplayer mode like IV, roam around without the need for money etc. Rockstar would lose money from shark cards (Literally the most important thing for them), that's why it won't happen.

They're more active at fixing money glitches than taking care of other more important things.

Why not have both? A IV-style free roam just for LAN, for f*cking around, and GTA Online for the MP Story mode, just like in last-gen.

If it won't be released official, there's always a mod for it since it's the PC version. Though I hope It will be officially announced since mods are clunkier than rockstar developers patches/minor mods.

LAN would complete GTA V but I don't see it happening since GTA online, the only way to play multiplayer at the moment, is regarded as a separate game.

This means releasing LAN capabilities would kill part of the online playerbase, similar to having private servers of MMOs.

Since GTA Online is now a standalone game, I don't think it might have LAN support. But you never know, it could be there. We have to wait and see though.

GTAO isn't truly a standalone game. You can only play it by buying GTA V, and it uses pretty much >95% of its assets from GTA V anyway. They only referred to it as standalone to make it seem like it's fancier than it really is, but all it is is just GTA V's multiplayer component.

As for LAN, most likely not gonna happen since GTAO is heavily cloud-based, and knowing R*, they wouldn't put in the time and effort into making a separate mode that isn't reliant on cloud servers and constant updating just for the minority who will use LAN.

It would be amazing if there's co-op on mission especially for 2-3 protagonist mission, that would be rock! :r*:
