Please help! having strange vc problem

Hi all.  I received GTA:VC for xmas and was having a grand time playing until the controls on the game went all wonky on me.  When I push the analog stick forward, Tommy runs backwards.  When I push it back, he goes forward!  The car controls are fine, it's only when Tommy is on foot that the directional controls go goofy.  I have tried everything I can think of to fix this problem (changed controller settings, etc.); funnily enough, a friend of mine says her own copy of VC did the same thing, and that she still hasn't figured out how to fix it.  (btw, I know there's nothing wrong with my controller--I tested it out on all my other games and it worked fine).  

 

Has anyone else experienced this problem?  Even if you haven't, do you have any suggestions on how I might fix it?  I am not a particularly 'game savvy' person so if you can offer advice in layman's terms, I'd appreciate it.

There is an option in controller settings that has an INVERT command.

There is one for cars and one for on foot.

Change the settings you have for on foot.

I just tried those commands and

the vehicle one just reverses the directions on the controller, the one on foot just reverses the buttons for the view, not actually walking.

Does the directional pad work okay?

I would say use that instead of the analog sticks!
