Unless the fighter pilots are appalling at the game, it seems to be impossible to win the game flying the Mallard. How is it done?

I fly almost straight up in the mallard, fly to the outskirts of the city, and jump out of the plane to sky dive to the finish.

Yeah, just fly at a 45 degree angle until max altitude and then sky dive really fast by lightly pushing the left stick up until you just about reach the hanger...I've never lost doing this...in fact, I've never even seen the jets haha

You can also fly the mallard to where the other team spawned and try to steal a jet that they didnt use. This usually helps if you fly up very high as well. You can also use Pegasus to call in a tank, buzzard, or vestra. Also not getting in the plane, camping the hangar, and sniping down the lazers works wonders (heavy sniper is a must).

You don't have to be in the plane to win. You could jump out and drive.

I know what you mean. Ever time when I'm the Hunter, I'm OP as hell!

 

However if you're stuck to the mallard then see how the hunters attempt to take you down. If they use missle then simply avoid their missle by pulling up, etc. But if they're using the cannons then the only way to make is by going max alltitude and hope the Hunters are stupid enough to stick to low alltitude and wondet where you are.

 

Also the Mallard can actually tank a missle (but it won't be air-worthy after that anymore.)

Fly up to the maximum height limit and then fly above the airport. Then you can jump out and skydive to the hanger. Make sure to pull your chute and land into safety, But be sure to have your AP Pistol equipped in case of people camping at the hanger. I had that happen once but i fortunately was able to kill him. Sucks that the Top Fun game modes only pay about 2g GTA$ and about 500 RP.

Well... i can never even find someone playing that mission... but i love the top fun missions and it really sounds like a challenge

It's true that unfortunately no one seems to play those any more. They can be great fun but they don't pay out like Rooftop Rumble. No one cares about fun. They treat GTA like a job - just a series of chores to chase some overpriced apartment skin

It sure as hell can, surprised the hell out of me. I nailed one of them with a missile, he started spiraling and I thought for sure he was going down so I just kept flying away. After a bit, since he hadn't yet crashed, I turned around and flew back and he was smoking like crazy but still airborne somehow.

Thats not going to stop the pilot shooting you out the parachute lol... Especially with the easymode explosive rounds.

Noticed this the first time I played it OP. Anyone who is able to win consistently as a Runner is just playing against bad pilots.

 

Have been using the Jet frequently in Freeroam of late and are definitely a Good pilot now (from poor) and I doubt the Runners would survive long. Go on YouTube and look up some Great/Top Notch pilots, then no chance at all ever. Most people I have seen have no idea how to fly the Jet properly and are most likely trying to shoot you down with Missiles and not use the cannons, landing gear to slow themselves down etc.

Can't shoot what you can't catch. Skydiving is so fast in this game I don't pull the chute until I'm at the hangar.

Except good pilots can... I have shot hundreds of people out their parachute & while they are freefalling. Sometimes the only saving grace is the lag, but if we played top fun 3 you would never make it to the checkpoint, not once. Oh & the Jet can easily catch a sky diver from a nose dive.

 

With any decent pilot in the fighter jet, it is over.

 

On another note, I was playing this last night, & when I was the guy trying to escape, the best strategy I found was simply getting out of the Mallard & jumping in the car in the hangar & driving down the freeway until you get to the city, then just driving through as much cover as possible.

 

Once I got to the airport, just time your driving with their positioning in the sky, & you are home free. Although the pilots were not great, so who knows if itd work against good ones.

Good pilots do not use the landing gear down...

 

What makes me laugh is, whenever I see a pilot who has the landing gear down, I know they learned by watching Tonksi videos. Its a shame, because most of those people have no clue that he was just a nobody compared to the best pilots back in the day, now he sold out the piloting by putting vids to show scrubs how to use the jet, & inevitably, we have thousands of Goose characters whizzing around up there.

I normally fly low along the east coast of the island, as you are below the mountains you don't appear on radar, the only two tricky bits are getting from the runway to the coast and flying across the water to the hanger.

I decided to search GTA forums for "Tonksi", and you post so much anti Tonksi propaganda its ridiculous! Do you think people genuinely eat the crap you try to feed them? Also, did I kill you in a free-roam or something?
