Even the Losers Get Lucky Some Times [A Racing Thread]

First off, Tom Petty rocks and his song, Even the Losers, is awesome.

Second, how are you enjoying the Non-Contact races?
I am really enjoying the Non-Contact races the more and more I play them.
Not only do I mess up and bash a wall now and again, but so do other drivers.

And there's no one to blame and yell at when you do. You just gotta own it and it's great.

Third, are you finding Contact races to be better or worse since Non-Contact began?
The Contact races I've joined in the past few weeks have ALL suuuuuuucked!!
The same moronic nincompoops who can't handle a curve continue to bash and crash their way to sixth place.
Brilliant way to win a race. Pit the lead car instead of actually passing. Suuuuuuuucked, I say!!

Fourth, when joining random races, and being put into a Big Air Ramp race, what's your first reaction?
For me, I really love the big air ramp races, but at the same time, they are stupidity at its finest.
Miss one ramp, or heaven forbid you get bumped off by one of the nincompoops (mentioned above) and it's torture to get back on track.

Fifth, what's your average placement in races?
I found that I am a solid 3rd and 4th place racer, no matter what track or how many people.
I get my wins, sure enough, but more often than not, I come in just behind the first spots.
Be it Contact or Non-Contact, it seems consistent.

Sixth, have you been seeing a mix of car classes lately?
I've been racing a lot of Sedan class and Compact class, which is absolutely fine with me.
My Exemplar is great for Coupe races, while the Fugitive and Blista are worthy of the others.
Joining randomly is a hit or miss, I think, still. Lots of Supers and Sports, still.

Lastly, do you find yourself ahead in the beginning of a race or in the back three?
I have noticed that in Contact races, I'm pitted quickly and end up in the back.
This seems to have an advantage as even when it seems like I'm losing, I manage to catch up (even with CU off) and overtake due to lucky breaks - ie, other players running off the track, competitive pitting, traffic, etc.

Anyhow, just curious about the racing interests of others. Feel free to share other thoughts, if you got em.

Cheers! ;)

It's not always about what's the fastest car. It depends on the driver. he who controls the car.. I beaten an elegy/carbonizzare with my coquette sports.

2. Plenty, even though I don't do them often...(For obvious reasons, nobody likes the fact that there's no catch-up + slipstream), I like that it has to be skill based to win the race, rather than luck....

3. Not really, still the same crash and burners as usual. Heck, I had been in a race where all 5 of the racers behind me overshot the turn to the first road, and I just slowed down and smoothly transitioned onto the other overpass. therefore an automatic victory (This was in the Muscle category understandably).

4. I'm okay with these big air races as well, I only hate the ones that again rely on luck to win the jump.

5. Having won 168/108 races, I would say I average at least 2nd or 3rd place.

6. A mix of car races? I tried doing that myself, but most of the time the players exit as soon as they see the class....Sad. I really enjoy racing the Pier track with Sedans in my Surge.

7. Again, pulling #3, wherever I am placed at the beginning of the race, near the beginning or the middle of the race, I always find myself pulling ahead of half/majority of racers, sometimes culminating in a neck and neck situation with the first place driver.

1. agreed
2. non contact racing is amazing although its a chore to find one and I can never seem to host a successful race lobby
3. so far every contact race I join is some variant of a jumping race filled with loud kids and bad drivers and its really never a pleasurable experience anymore :p
4. usually I leave but occasionally I get tempted with a jump race (usually end up getting angry though :D )
5. recently I have being doing very well in races and usually place in the top 2. working on getting my win lose ratio to 300 wins 230 losses, currently sitting at 280 something wins and 225 losses
6. been struggling to find a mix of race classes and have been attempting to join a competitive non contact muscle race for the past week with no luck :( got offroad races more than anything and never want to see another again
7. most races I hang back of the pack at the start and judge everyone elses driving before I make my move, or just watch a pit frenzy happen and take my rightful first place

fw3 you make the best threads :)

1. Eh, I prefer other songs. Running Down a Dream is a great racing song.

2. I love non-contact. Since it's inception, all that's left in contact are the trolls and scrubs that want to play bumper cars all day.

3. Worse. See above. All the good racers have gone non-contact.

4. SUPER JUMPS N LOOPS A-nope. B button. Confirm.

5. Non-contact? I RARELY place below 3rd, and usually due to my own fault, or being distracted. Contact on? Hahaha, it's a friggin' crapshoot. But my record is 1500/2000, so I win a good chunk of my races, and those include only about 20% non-contact since they came out.

6. I try and use all of them. It's why I have a racing garage filled with cars for each class. I hate that most people only use super or sports. They're doing themselves a disservice by limiting their choices.

7. I always get out in front early, and usually stay there, unless it's contact with catchup. If contact's on, again, it's a crap shoot.

My big gripe is not with contact, but with catchup. I can't count the number of times I would have had 30+ second victories if it weren't for those damn training wheels for scrubs.

Second and first 50/35%. I like being in second cause I to stay clean. If I can keep pace, I would try to slipstream and pass at the very last second.

It gets difficult when a third guy comes for the ride and spins all three of us out.

I do enjoy the non-contact, but I believe rubbing is racing and I don't mean pit maneuvers or being a Jack ass. Every now and then I run into a good bunch of guys who race fairly and it's usually a blast

^This is the attitude you want when using contact.

Tom Petty? Is this a crooner of some sort.

OT: I have a playlist I regularly play called "f*ck man awesome races!" that consists of 9 super sick mega jump races. Oooooh I love 'em.

Non contact is too dull for me, just don't feel right, don't get same buzz.

The answer to number 1 is: only a toolbag replies twice in a thread, but doesn't address anything in the original post.

Stop being a toolbag. Get rid of cable. And contribute like a man.
