Returning to Los Santos

Having a rather lengthy break from GTA V / gaming altogether I recently decided to step foot onto Los Santos soil once again, a fresh start.

After the obligatory tutorial / initiation I was set free from the clutches of the game gods and unleashed into the virtual world... First thing I did was landed a meaty right hand into the face of the first NPC Pedestrian I spotted.

The victim clearly in sight I proceeded to sprint in order to get a monster run up... The timing was perfect, I executed a mean right hand which could've sent the poor sods jaw through Bincos store window with consummate ease.. But he just crumbled to the floor literally knocked the f*ck out.

Feeling proud of that spectacular right hand I noticed a message appear mentioning something about my state of mind? From what I gather the Red Dots all over the map are now representing people who kill other players etc.. Am I far from the truth or what?

I haven't had the chance to look into it yet as of late due to being extremely busy but if someone could quickly give me the low down without sugar coating it with sh*t first.

Basically will I have to stop inflicting pain to NPCs to stop my mind from going bat sh*t crazy and considered hostile? Because I'm not the kind of player to run around and gun down another player on sight..

Although I might add I did exactly that about an hour ago, a player went passed with a red skull as an icon, he swung his vehicle around as I'm pretty sure he saw me on foot.. I pulled out the AR and planted two rounds into his cranium, he had sticky bombs equipped so Im pretty sure he had intentions.

The same message popped up when I held up a store for a pack of P&Qs..

Do we all get penalised now for doing what we want? Within consideration of cause.

Thanks for the help, if any.

Agreed, 5 - 6 months worth of break, it was quite a shock to see all the content released when I booted up GTA again.

Then all these new messages appeared I had no clue about, thought I'd come here and ask you fine people seeing as these forums are notorious for its brutally honest bullsh*t and common sense all rolled into one. I figured I'd get answers more effeciently rather then search bloody Google lol

The state of mind is a bit useless to be honest.

Every time you kill an NPC, cop or other player your meter will increase and your white blip will turn redder. In theory this should tell you who is dangerous and who is not. I think skulls indicate bounties, but I could use confirmation on that.

In practice it means nothing. I'm quite a laid back player; I only kill if somebody tries to kill me first. I'm red at the moment because I went on a tank spree against cops and NPCs three weeks ago, and defending myself in the meantime has prevented it from reducing. Likewise there are plenty of white blips who will gladly blow you up just because.

Just enjoy the game and ignore the warnings. It's a meaningless stat that deserves no attention.

You're not being penalized, you're being labeled. Quite accurately it would seem.

Labeled "Dangerous" for causing virtual harm to an NPC.. How is that even logical?

Wouldn't it make sense to shoehorn that particular stat even though it's pretty pointless into the PVP aspect of the game in free roam?

Since there's a small bonus for killing these mentally challenged people, you're effectively being put on a leash in terms of what you can actually do in a Sandbox environment. Therefore being penalised.

Say someone started fresh in the world of GTA online, he/she is laid back in their actions and leave other people alone. However they cause chaos in the NPC world / Police etc.

Their "insanity" meter goes through the roof and has now put them on the map, basically as a small bounty in retrospect. Thanks for clearing that up people =)

Oh yea. Murdering NPCs and running through a city blowing sh*t up shouldn't label you a psycho. Of course you should be penalized for this. But what does it matter? Guess you joined up with that new terrorist group in Iraq (the iso's or whatever). Now for those guys this would be normal behavior.

This is a video game my friend, not real life.

Tell that to the others who basically want this to be the Sims with guns. For some, GTA IS life.
