A non-contact passive mode?

I for one would have liked a Passive Non contact mode, when i started playing a few weeks ago(just after that last update).......I tried my damnedest to hang out in pubic lobbies only to become to become the victim again and again by players using weapons the way overpowered the damn pop gun i had and the handful of bullets

 

so i started going into my own private lobbies to sell cars ect, and use it for a springboard to join jobs, and retreat to between jobs, but the down side to this was meeting people..I am damn near as old as GOD at age 62 but hoped i could find some players old enough to at least remember what a black and white tv was

 

Yes i figured out it was a kill or be killed world real quick,and that Passive mode was a joke, now that i have got my level and stuff ranked up 72 or so, i do enjoy some freeroam death matches killing or what ever you want to call it, i still get killed a lot at times, but at least i feel like a do have a fighting chance

That's your opinion, and you have a right to that. But what I'm sayin is that I can see clearly why rockstar didn't make it that way, as I have explained in my previous posts. It seems unreasonable to be like "I wanna play with random strangers, but I wanna limit the way that they can act around me." If the hostile players are a threat that you don't wanna bother with dealing with, simply don't play with them.

 

Wether R* changes it or not, in the meantime I suppose you want everyone to continue getting killed and then go to a forum to complain about it instead of asking for help? Sounds good to me.

I'm someone who always said just go into a private session for people with these complaints like tank griefers. But I have always wanted a passive mode that actually works as well, Rockstar should implement this. Also I posted this on the forums back a long time ago and everyone ignored it but I'm glad the idea is getting some recognition it deserves. Think! I already blocked you too and will not respond to any rude comments you will inevitably give.

i have suggested this before but we always get to the same conclusion, it would get exploited, specially by tank griefers.

 

atleast with the current mode i can get a bit of revenge when the mugger pull him out of the tank.

Lol - I hadn't seen the kid's last reply to me, with him being on ignore. That's proof of stupidity right there. He actually answers someone who tells him they're on their ignore list.

I dont use passive mode since i saw how unpassive it was, but any suggestions are worth learning

 

I now try to watch players and see whats happening around me, and when i am in the mood to try and earn freeroam dollars or search fro a car, i go back to private mode,

The way I see is that if you're in PM you're not out looking to interact so surely an invite only session would be beneficial to you. If you're looking to mess about with mates then again, invite only session.

 

However if you insist on using PM this is how I think it should be:

> Passive mode should by default ghost you through cars and ignore firehoses.

> You should be vulnerable to any NPC attacks, environmental damage (falling damage, drowning) and also being damaged at in a car (this is just to counter trolling by stealing PVs).

> It should NOT make you invulnerable.

Sure. I could best help you if you have an example of a specific situation you have in mind that you experienced being harassed by another player or kept getting killed. something like that.

 

If you don't, I could try and give you some general pointers.

Smh too often I find that people who complain about the way passive mode is don't care to pay attention to anything or even look out for themselves in the first place. If you are paying attention to things that are going on, that's alredy one of the best things you can do.

If i'm in a non-contact passive mode, I could care less if a tank griefer goes into passive, after being blown up, to go grab another tank. His tanks wouldn't affect me at all... that would be the point.

 

As for not interacting with other people cause you're in passive, there would be more interaction between players that don't want to just get into pointless PVP battles. The way it is now has less interaction because you never know if the guy your coming up on is just going to sticky you for no reason or not.

 

R* is dancing around giving us a friendly lobby system by having the broken passive mode and then putting in the stupid mental state meter. At least a non-contact passive would be a step in the right direction.

I wouldn't want this implemented, it wouldn't affect me a whole lot if it did, but it would affect me more negatively than positive, as I only use passive mode for the occasional trolling, but primarily to get some space from a tank, it would make it easier to get away, but it would make it easier for the tanker to get away as well.

 

It's also kinda creepy, your going about doing your thing, and this "ghost" has decided to follow you around, I know I would use it like that if I got bored, it could also be used to help allies by following enemies everywhere. I just don't like the idea of having absolutely no control whatsoever over players in my vicinity.

 

That's just me though, I like to keep thing under control, but if you want to improve passive mode, turn it into what we have in missions, where players can use guns but not on each other, that way at least you're not at the mercy of raging police AI, and if someone decides to run you over you can still blow his car up, and vice versa. It wouldn't kill anyone and it would create some awkward situations, but so would this and any kinda passive mode, but I'm pretty ok with what we got.

I don't see how this could help griefers... If they go this passive mode they can't call Pegasus for a tank, something like that already exists (bounty on someone while passive)... also, if someone go non-contact passive mode and go for their thank you just do the same and that's it... the idiot would be him.

 

This can be a solution because I hate driving and having a bunch of pricks behind me just because they know I can't defend myself in passive mode. I don't have a problem in loosing them (since almost everyone suck driving in Free Roam in my experience), but passive mode isn't even passive. It's just a way to hide your ass like a pussy while you run for a tank.

 

A non-contact passive mode stop tank-griefers of being douches and kids with Adders from chasing you because they see a flag in the map.

 

With restrictions, time-limits and the correct application (from Rockstar) that would make the game more like it is supposed to be. I like public sessions because the game needs some live, but It's kinda unfair when you're going to your garage or LSC and a bunch of idiots are trolling and waiting there. In a MMO free roam lobbies aren't supposed to be battlefields, they're supposed to be for exploring the map and chilling with other people.

 

Maybe I'm wrong and this isn't sims, but if this isn't a good idea, passive lobbies could be.

 

PS: Sure, interaction with other people my ass... never played a Impount Race or something like that...

I find that it's hard to get crews and friends together. I never seem to be on the same time as my friends so to join a random session and be able to pick out the other players that aren't interested in PVP would just open up possibilities like tandem skydives, bus runs down Chiliad, etc. with randoms.

I still find a few players like that every so often so it's not a necessity or anything but would just make it easier and increase my enjoyment of the game.

Since GTAO was launched I never go passive mode, and -like a lot of people- it is because I think the passive mode is a joke... a $500 fee to some asshole for ramming you? Sure, they'll learn something.

 

I don't know if somebody proposed this before but what about a non-contact passive mode? Because I'm sick of going to Ammu-Nation with a giant letter that says "Hey guys, kill me while I buy ammo". That's not the real problem, if I'm on foot and passive mode I have another giant letter that says "Hey, run the sh*t out of me, you will get a gift". Rockstar already created the non-contact races, so I don't see that so impossible.

 

Glitchers of course, but that would make the game more fair than getting a bunch of idiots behind me while I drive no wanting problems just because they're too afraid to fight in fair conditions.

No, that's not really a great idea. A non contact passive mode defeats the very idea of a free roam open session: player interaction.

 

Most of the problems people say they experience with passive mode, I don't have. So If you need some tips or advice on how to use it to your advantage, I'd be more than happy to help.

 

The only interaction players do is kill each other on sight or go out of their way to kill someone for no reason. Every MMO has no contact to make sure everything runs smoothly and no one can mess with another persons game experience. No contact in gta would more beneficial than anything because everyone just griefs in free roam and messes with other people. May aswell call this online version of GTA: Griefing Tanks Auto. The way I see it, is play nicely or don't play at all and move on to another game. No one will care you're gone and chances are you'll return.

I'm a part of two crews ATM, one small one with friends IRL, one larger with guys from this site but are on the other side of the world so our times never quite sync up.

I could go looking for another more active crew but it would just be nice to join a lobby and have some fun on the fly with no strings attached.

 

The friendly lobbies in RDR were always fun to me, I just wish Rockstar did that for V.
