Andreas
I think there are two reasons for the delay: V is coming to PS4 and Xbox One, and Rockstar wants the game to run at Full-HD on both consoles and there is GTA Online. That V works like it does on the current consoles could be considered a miracle, sort of the way it was a miracle that Red Dead Redemption was a fully functional game, in the end, despite the fact that the engine was a complete mess and a nightmare to program. Since they already have some experience with the x86-architecture, the development of the remastered editions shouldn't be too hard, but there still may be complications. The ESRAM of the Xbox One, for example, is what makes the platform far more difficult to program than the PS4 and PC. And there are, in fact, companies that complained about it already. So, it wouldn't surprise me if that's at least one reason for the delay. GTA Online has been a mess from the beginning on and not much has changed since then. Hackers and cheaters sh*t all over the multiplayer like it would be nothing and it would be far worse on PC. I can imagine that they are attempting to solve these problems on the current-gen platform before introducing GTA V on any more gaming systems. Whether they succeed is another matter. I don't think that they would bother with pushing back the game for yet another time, though. robban
They wanted to make sure to make a fortune on last gen and later on, on next gen as well. It's only business, but I won't buy the game until they add everything that is missing at the moment: - Character creation like Saints Row - More stuff happening in free mode etc. etc. Edited June 12, 2014 by robban
thestig93
At first I thought that Rockstar were just being assholes ignoring PC gamers and not releasing the game 6 months after the console version (as they always do). And I was like *uc* them, I don't wanna play their sorry ass game anyways. (of course the game is not sorry ass, I just wanted to feel better lol) But now I realize that they just wanted to take their time in order to deliver the best possible experience with this much updated next gen/pc version of the game. I would've been mad as hell, if we PC gamers received the old gen version, while the next gen console gamers got the improved one.
TempAccount
i don't see the point in releasing V for next gen now that its on current gen. i mean, its only good for those who do not have V and have a next gen console. or those who are hell bent on having better quality on a console. and thats not many people. PC release is far better choice. purely for modding. nothing else. it'll carry the GTA name on for another few years at least. Because IT'S EASY! Why do you think there are so many "Remastered" games coming out for the PS4/XBO? The games are already made. Console gamers will gladly pay for the same game twice ($120?) in order to get slightly better graphics. Oh boyyyy. This. If an insider told me R* currently has less than 20 employees developing the release day game for PC I wouldn't be surprised. In fact, I bet the it has been sitting on a shelf somewhere collecting dust. Developing paid DLC is probably the main focus right now. Release quality will tell all, though. Shareholders are always the first consideration of a public company. Thus Take Two's goal is two sales of same game to every customer. After they have both copies, release the paid DLC. If I was a shareholder I would be happy with that strategy. Edited June 13, 2014 by TempAccount ARC8_1982

Black Ninja
They always do this bro III came out in 01 for PS2, it came out in 02 for PC, VC the same with 02 and 03, SA 04 and 05, IV April 08 PS3 and 360 December for PC, it's always been like that since III it'll most likely always be like that. _FRANKENSTEIN_
Consoles, they were porting GTA V PC to PS4 and X1. By september, the game was still unfinished for PC and porting process probably wasn't even started by then, so it took Rockstar little longer to announce the game. poland stronk
My assumptions: -Compare power of Xbox 360 and PS3 to PC. It would be stupid to release two versions of the game, one being better than the other one. -Marketing. Rockstar already has experience in selling very same product again. And they know people will buy it again if it is polished. -Rumors say Xbox One has delayed R* announcement. Maybe there were some problems with optimazing game on that platform. -X1 and PS4 are new and the game was released shortly to their debut. I don't think Rockstar had enough time to get familiar with them. -They also delayed it for so long because they wanted to suck as much money as they could. Now probably they see it's good time to strike. -Xbox One is not available in every country. So they are waiting until market gets larger so they can maximaze profits. Piracy already exists on old-gen so I don't think they care about it. It's not like everyone who has PC downloads every game. The do it only with those who are poorly made and not worth their price. droidrzrlover
I would say that it took a long time for GTA V to be released on the consoles as well, because as soon as GTA IV came out, Rockstar Games and Rockstar North got started on GTA V on the consoles. The "fake" GTA V screenshots was GTA V in early developments.
Rock Howard
But hey, its coming now. That's all that matters. It's a transition to a new generation. I'm sure It's quite rough for all devs. Exactly. These things take time.
Washuchan
Rockstar's ex-employee John Diaz said in a tweet a long time ago that Rockstar will announce the PC version of the game when the team feels that the game has reached the quality that PC gamers expect from it. I'm certain that GTA V will look superb AND will be atleast as optimized as Max Payne 3 was. Rockstar have learned their lesson with GTA IV and I'm a hundred percent sure they will surprise us with an amazing game that is NOT a port. They have probably seen the negative reception that some games have got on steam forums if they even have the smallest error. And there will be at least three threads on the front page of the GTA V steam forum on launch day that are demanding refunds.

nikobellic91
The PC version was finished first, PS4 second and X1 last. Rockstar wanted a simultaneous release for current gen and PC, that's why the PC version was delayed. If it wasn't for PS4 and X1, we'd have the PC version in our hands right now... from March 2014, in fact.

nikobellic91
Yes, but the PC version was finished earlier. If current gen consoles were to be released in say, 2015, PC version would have released March 2014.
Ash_735
PC and PS4 versions were only Four Months apart from each other when going into full production, PC went full time in September 2012 and PS4 went full time January 2013, so they both would have been finished around the same time, give or take a month or two. If PS4 and X1 (not GTA V versions, but the consoles themselves) didn't exist, PC version would have been released in March. Basically, It's all the Xbone's fault. It always is . I'm not sure why they'd bother to release it on that platform, to be honest. But hey, when people said the same for PC ("Why would they bother with a PC version"), I'd get steaming f*cking mad. So I probably shouldn't dish out what I can't handle. Everyone gets a piece of the V pie. No exceptions. We'll have a Wii U version before you know it. Johan
To get as many sales as they can on the PS3/360 version by taking their time.. if they announced it long ago then people would have waited longer. They took so long that most people were finally starting to doubt whether or not it was ever coming, so they gave in and purchased it.. now R* dropped the bomb and most of those people will end up buying the game again or 2 more times. Plus they were working on it as well, huge project and a lot of changes compared to the last generation from what we've seen in the trailer.
