GTAF prohibits topics related to piracy! So i think u all shouldnt care about that here!

Just reminding ! :p

That could be just some of the game so it can't be torrented immediatly. And it updates over the days upto release. (I know Farming Simulator 15 did it)

A day one patch to make the game playable? I'm sure there's pretty damn many people out there without a Internet connection planning on buying this. How would they be able to play at all?

Also, there's no point in doing something like this for Xbone and PS4, there's currently no way to run pirated games on them.

Edit: I just realized we're in the PC section, so you're likely talking about PC. My bad

I'm sorry, are you comparing the best game ever created for consoles to the worst game that was ever thought of?

I know making fun of Simulator games is one of the best past times, many people are ironically playing them just because the game is aimed at a very selective group of people.

That said, these simulator games are actually very well made and in comparison to some other developers, they're even better. It seems especially Germans enjoy these types of games.

Yeah.. Some of the simulator games are really nice!! Ive played n enjoyed a lot of them!

I agree. I find most simulators that don't over-sell them self to be quite enjoyable! But when you put effort into a game that people already find as a joke, you kill the enjoyment. If it wasn't brought down by the internet, you would probably have a better experience.

I think 4K textures pack will be a free DLC on Steam (like ultra textures DLC in Skyrim, Sleeping Dogs, Shadow of Mordor)

It would make sense to those who don't have 4K monitor or powerful enough rig so they don't have to download/install all of it.

Think about it, 4K is double the resolution of 1920x1080, it would make the download like 80 GB in total.

Normal version should support up to 2560x1440 and 2560x1600 imo. And it may be around 50 gb in total.

Also prepare for at least 6 DVD discs xD

Since Dual-layered ones support up to 8.7 gb it makes it 43.5 gb with 5 discs, still 1.4 gb less than PS4 version so I'm assuming it will need at least 6 discs.

Afaik Shadow of Mordor shipped on 5 DVD's and Call of Duty Advanced Warfare shipped on 6!

It's a lot better than downloading the bulky 40gb game.

They've confirmed 4K resolution support. But it's unsure, whether there would be any 4K textures.

i still believe ,that it will not be more than 50GB! and yes they have confirmed 4K support... which implies we can expect 4K textures cz they are not fools! :p cz Who would want to play a game like GTAV at a 4K resolution with 1080p textures! so my best guess is yes... 4K textures should be included!

and no that doesnt mean it has to be 80GBs ! cz there is something known as compression also  :p !

They'll probably have a 4k texture download to save space (and time for digital buyers) for the majority that don't play in 4k. There really isn't a reason to waste the space and time of the majority.

It's highly unlikely. There's no way anyone can compress 4K textures that easy. If it has 4K textures, then as TheMcSame said, it will be a DLC Texture pack. I bet the game will cross 80gigs, if it has 4K texture support.

The only real implication (i can think of) of confirming 4k resolution is that they have to make sure the interface and mouse adapt correctly. So that does mean higher resolution textures for the UI, but nothing more. How much they decide to push the actual game's textures is a different story.

GTA V for PS4 is 45 GB, I'd imagine PC will have higher quality assets so we may be looking at 50 GB. If they want maximum 4K fidelity we may have a separate download for new textures, which could throw the total size to like 55 GB or 60.

Confirmed to be 45GB? Assifuah posted earlier that a Twitch streamer confirmed the size as 55GB.

The XB1 version is 42.44GB so I don't see why it would be 55GB on the PS4.

True, 45GB isn't bad. At least I get an estimate so I can clean out my SSD

Edit: Heh, my one Gmod server was 40GB, moved it to my HDD.

Yes, the preload was 44,9GB on the PS4.

Yes, I only mentioned install size and not download / pre-load.

I can also add that he needed to download additional content for Online, but there was no mention on the size of that.

Edit: Check it out. PS4 version, back of the case.

Well looks like I should move BF4 out of the SSD to the HDD. I hope 60GB will be enough for GTA V, would be awesome if I could run it of the SSD.

Well, as GTA V on PC is just 2 weeks away, I think this thread had a good run.

Edit: Also keep in mind Max Payne 3 on PC was about 35Gb.

Most of that was taken by pre-rendered cutscenes. The actual game i about 16 GB.

GTA V is outdated as hell, I don't see why it would take more than 20 GB, even with Rockstar's horrendous optimization and piles of unused content.

Usually the biggest files in a game are assets like sound, textures and video.

Keep in mind that sounds are uncompressed in many games nowadays to avoid extra CPU usage when playing (CPU power is much more precious than drive space, and hearing 1 mp3 of flac song is fine but having dozens of sounds being decoded and playing simultaneously on a game is a different story). As an example take Left 4 Dead 2, about 15gb total, 6,1Gb (40%) are uncompressed wav sounds. I can't measure this in GTAIV because the sounds are packed in containers or other format otherwise i would have taken a look.

Then add the vast amount of textures an open world game like GTAV is going to have and at a rather high resolution too.

RetardOfTheYear

I'm not expecting anything less than 1 gb

let's say 2 or 3 gb if it's really well optimized with no textures and no sounds.
