If it's gonna be this big I'll definitely be buying it on disk instead of downloading.

I simply hope other games started to do things like Valve's Source games. You have CS:Source installed and you wanna install TF2, you only download 6-7 GB instead of the full 12 GB. The same goes with other Source engine games like Left 4 Dead 2, Portal 1 and 2, and also Half-Life 2.

That would be great, for games that have used the same variation {By variation I of course mean, exactly same} of engine for the last 100 years.

Here's a full list: COD.

Games like GTA isn't released frequently enough to actually make use of that system, nor will it be worth all the work.

Well almost all of Valve's games past HL2 use it as a base, which basically means you get all the stuff from it for each game.

Yeah, that game is not PC friendly. By default locked to 720p and virtually no options to change the graphics.

I don't mind games at that size as I usually just delete them once I'm bored with it, except Steam, I'm not reinstalling 1.4TB of games again..

it will be 4 dvd's

Nope!.. Atleast 6 DVDs 8GBs each...i know this sounds a lil weird cz ive never installed a game from more than 4 DVDs! But That'll be my guess.. Cz this seems pretty legit keeping 50gb mark in mind!

I can't imagine R* would bother making a disc retail version of the game for PC. There's just no point to it.

With things like Steam and Amazon who provide digital downloads, making a disc version could put them at a loss due to the manufacture costs of printing the CDs. And they can become useless if they're packaged with a code to use (especially if it's a one-time only use).

And besides, Disc-based media storage is sh*t anyway. They're susceptible to damage and they rot over time.

for some reason, the PC version of the games tends to be lightier than the consoles versions of the games.

Because they must fit on as few dvd's as possible.

What? Dude are u questioning the existence of physical version? Let me tell u this that not all countries have Steam and digital download.. Many retailers here have already started preorder for physical version so keep it shut.

What the hell will you do if the game is massive 50+gigs in size?

That would take a massive 2.5 hours to download, I'm going digital at least. (Along with the peace of mind that I can't lose my game just because I misplaced my CD key)

There will of course be a disc-based version of the game for those with below average speeds.

Edit: 6 minutes for those with Google fiber.

The rumors said 50gb and that analysing guy above said 43,5gb..

So it'll probably be 50gb with all the DLC and such.

Did someone say 6 DVDs for the physical copy? That sounds too much. You have to remember that the game data on discs is usually compressed. The discs of EFLC are 7.72+6.90 GiB in size, and installed it is somewhere around 18 GiB. So the data on the disc will be compressed to about 80% of original size. If GTA V size installed was as big as 50 GiB then the compressed data on the discs would be about 40 GiBs. And if the discs used are standard 8.5 GB (7.91 GiBs) dual-layer DVDs then the game could fit in 5 discs. It could be even 4 if they ramp up the compression rate or use bigger disks than normally. :)

I bet there's going to be even more locked DLC content. Hence why it's so big.

There's no confirmed size of the PC version yet. Absolutely every single reply in this thread is pure speculation and is likely to be wrong.

My money is on roughly 30GB, I see no reason why it would be around 50.

Next Gen download will probably be around 50GB due to the work they have to put into recreating the graphics. PC would render at about 30GB to 45GB. Because of the PC being able to optimize the graphics manually. That is unless they do not allow the graphics optimization on PC.
