The npc driver AI I thought wasn't great in V. Even when I was driving normally cars seemed to have a higher propensity to turn into you than IV. Could definitely do with an upgrade if there are more cars.

Oh yes. Forgot how obnoxious this is when you are at high speeds and a car just f*cking decides to, for no rhyme or reason at all, go slightly to the right just to f*ck you over. Damn that's annoying. This was in previous GTAs as well, if I recall correctly. Really hope it gets fixed with this AI upgrade.

I hope this truly means smart AI and not overpowered AI that can shoot you from half a mile away weaving between traffic at high speeds.

But nevertheless this is good news. Now if only they'd do something about the annoying turbulence and swaying of helicopters and planes.

Maybe someone can make a mod that eliminates (or reduces) those effects and also develop a script that lets us leave the engine running when we get out of a car like in IV!

If this is true then that's good news! It looks like GTAV PC is more than just a slightly enhanced version of the original game from last September. Definitely looking forward to more news in the near future.

This would be great !

But I also hope there's gonna be cops patroling on cars because from what I've heard there are no cops until you are wanted. and then right after they stop chasing you they disappear when you look away

This is true. I don't see them walking on the streets or driving around like in IV.

Also unlike IV, I never see a cop actually arrest an NPC. It's usually just a chase until they stop at some point, get out their cars and have a gun fight until either side wins.

If the cops win, the get back in their car and drive off as normal. Same goes for the NPCs.

I've seen cops parked on the side of highways, but it's just a static location and they are always there.

I hope this truly means smart AI and not overpowered AI that can shoot you from half a mile away weaving between traffic at high speeds.

f*cking hated this, especially if I'm on a motorcycle. f*cking dipping and dodging between cars and I'd still get shot.

Spider-Vice

I bet that is part of the NPC's working in factories and stuff we saw in the trailer. We're finally getting a full on immersion.

I don't know where the truth is, maybe they realized they kinda f*cked that one up with the police and grabed the chance to change it on PC and NG.

Well, AI takes CPU power. The more complex the AI is the more CPU intensive the game can be.

So maybe they tried their hardest to make the AI seem smart on PS3/360 but ended making them OP as f*ck.

But now they can actually utilize it on PC/PS4/XBO with the better processors.

Which means this game is gonna recommend an i7 processor on PC, and the minimum will be an i3 or C2Q.

I hope this means police will start arresting random peds again. Not just shoot to kill all the time.

F*cking THIS. I can't THIS this enough.

I seriously hope it improves the AI's state to beyond what IV had, as it's rather sad having a game downgrade a major aspect of the gameplay...

I don't think smarter AI requires more CPU power. The density does, the smarter ai simply means some of the tasks that the engine can assign to peds to be a bit better. I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you, this sounds like marketing talk. They sure are going all out on them, which is obvious as it would sell more.

Maybe they're trying to justify the price of $60 for a year old game...especially to us PC gamers and those that already bought it for PS3 and 360.

This seems to be the standard price on steam nowadays, noticed WD also was 59.99. I get my games Retail at around 45. I will pay the 60 if I need to, but they can promise us all the world, the fact remains, this is an old game, and should therefore be priced accordingly.

disclaimer: wishful thinking

I have spent quite some time with trying out the various engine tasks available to peds in IV (for development) and those at times drove me absolutely crazy. I personally didn't have the notion that the AI in V was any dumber as opposed to IV. I fail to see how it could be to be honest :)

Regarding the cops, I actually hope they don't change it too much, except maybe the "all seeing" aspect of it. Allthough it does introduce a nice element into the game.

The AI situations in V are extremely limited compared to default IV. I mean none of it is coherent, they all sort of follow the most basic instructions until they decide to stop and just randomly walk away.

At least the AI in IV did things and had purpose:

- Paramedics actually revived NPCs

- Police would arrest people and put them in the back car then drive off

There's probably more there but I can't really think of it at the moment. The only thing I know is, there's like 1 kind of NPC in V and that's a pedestrian just standing around until they either fight you to the death, or flee. That's it.

Yes, these are the tasks I was talking about, there are quite a few. People putting stuff in the trunk is another example. I bet these tasks are still available in Rage, I guess they didn't bother to make use of them in V, allthough I must admit, it escaped my attention in V's case.

I have an idea the npc car drivers were made dumb deliberately to make V harder. If it wasn't for that you could blast through the whole of Los santos at 120mph and never hit anything. Peds propensity to do very stupid things makes you slow down. Might not be needed if there are more cars. Also, have you noticed how in a crash, you are always turned into the impact, rarely away from it?
