So GTA 5 is going next gen+PC..... My initial response,prolly like most of yours was "f*ck YES"!!!

 

But then I got to thinking....

R* apparently didnt learn from the fiasco that GTA4 became with all the mods and hackers.GTA 5,though not as bad has suffered from the delay of online play('member the in game cash they gave us as compensation?)

Then came the Billionaire days...good times,but then we were all reset,some justly,some not.

Then came the god moders,wall breachers,invisibility hack,...heck I forget them all...

Now we have the UFO hackers,multiple server shutdowns to hot patch them

 

since 1.11 most of us have our consoles freeze up and continually getting the "Timed out due to unknown Error" ...

Now Ive read more than one member here refer to the PS3 version as "a beta" test.Perhaps.


Perhaps Not.

I dont think R* learned anything from GTA 4,and ignoring history is a fools errand.

I hope im wrong but I dont think the issues plaguing PS3/XBOX will be improved on the next generation of consoles.

I wonder what excuse R* uses when our brand new,shiny consoles freeze up?!?


Yes im getting a PS4,and yes I will most likely get GTA 5....but unlike most here im not holding my breath on R* making the most of a golden opportunity.

they will make their $,and at the end of the day thats all that is guaranteed.

I honestly love car mods. Im a little excited to see the cars people will be bringing in, and since there's a wide variety of vehicles already, they have many options as to what vehicles to mod for. Just brace yourself for Gamebreakers...

Oh I have no doubt the PC version will take hacking to all new levels...and I have no issue with modded cars(NOS anyone?) or customized cars.

 

The trouble is,as you put it,the gamebreakers....UFOs,God Mode,hacking data and making 400 billion by robbing a store etc....I just dont think R* has the tech staff on hand to make a version of the game that is un-breakable,un-freezeable,un-kicked to story mode very 20 minutes-able.

 

 

its too bad cuz this game is quite fun when it works correctly.

god i have to agree 100% with OP.

 

specially with the consile freeze part. some people actually believe the freeze is caused by old hardware when the freeze was introduced with patch 1.11, its gonna be super funny when the ps4 freeze threads start to pop up in here.

 

i plan to eventually upgrade to ps4 but not yet, ill give 5-6months to see how thing go with the game, to see if whatever they are doing with the "more powerful" console is worth the close to $500 it would cost me to upgrade.

For GTA Online, Rockstar only cares about that Cash Card money, so it might not be on their bucket list.

Well I won't be upgrading so my hope is that when the attention shifts to new platforms, the lagging/freezing issues will improve on ps3 since there won't be so many people on it. I'm sure things will work better on the new platforms, though hacking/modding will no doubt catch up and make it's mark.

I think R* had this planned the whole time. They had us run out and get Gta V for the old consoles wait about a year later and release them on the newer consoles so they will make us shell more $$$$. I also think once it comes out in august, they will stop releasing content for the older consoles. Some could argue and say that R* is greedy but from a business aspect this is the best thing that could've done but personally im not sure which move ill make but all i hope is that they don't screw over the people that just got a xbox360 or Ps3 solely for GTA V and continue to release the same content for all the platforms.

Dont bother me. They make double the money off me to invest in GTA 6. Id say thats a fair investment on my end

It's pretty obvious that Rockstar doesn't give a crap about us. I played GTA:O until around November, when I said "screw it, I want to play an actually fun game which doesn't involve 10 hours of grinding for every twenty minutes of fun." I ended up with the PS4, but I'd been following the progress of GTA:O to see what they did with it, and what they gave the playerbase were a couple reskins on nigh-identical assault rifles, a few suit reskins, and a handful of cars. No heists (AKA one of the defining features that most of us bought the game for, that was advertised as being a major feature), and very little rebalancing. And now a next-gen release with no actual announcement on heists? I'm personally insulted and will not be getting the game until it's twenty dollars in the bargain bin.

 

I understand that Rockstar is a company and needs to make money. Cashcards are an understandable way to do that- in a free to play game. However, I paid 60 dollars for the game, I should not be subtly nudged towards buying cashcards (spend 5 hours grinding this same dull mission that is the only feasible source of income OR spend 5 bucks on a cashcard). I would much rather have paid DLC than this system.

i would believe that if the freezing didnt happen to everyone in a given lobby at once. when i have had freezes, all my friends in the same room would freeze at the same time. Are you saying that all our hardwares are colluding and freezing at same time?

The software won't even be remotely the same though. Granted, it will likely have bugs and glitches of it's own but I wouldn't say the freezing issue is likely to carry over.

i like optimism,its something I wish I had more of in regards to the is game and company.

 

As I stated in my original post,R* didnt learn from the GTA4 experience,or simply didnt give a sh*t,or perhaps a combination of both.

Someone else also stated there is currently no way to hack the next-gen consoles.Yup it did take awhile for them to crack the PS3,and surely they will crack the 4 too.

Theyre making bilions of dollars from software and cashcard sales,and they cant see the bigger picture:putting out a quality un-broken game that makes non R* fanboys want to buy GTA6.

Admittedly this is my first R* game ive ever played,and im simply not impressed.

As to the poster who claimed that this game pushed the limits of what XBOX and PS3 could handle...I call bullsh*t.

Skyrim PUSHED the limits.And when it came out it lagged and stuttered and was unplayable.But the difference between Bethesda and R* is that Bethesda acknowledged the issue and released several patches to fix it.R* denies the issues and blames the comsumers faulty consoles.

Therefore I am a skeptic,as well as a sucker...cuz I will get the GTA 5 for PS4,just in case im full of sh*t.For once,I hope I am.

Also this is really the worst rockstar game I've ever played, they are usually great. The switch to multiplayer got them, they have no idea how to make or balance s game of this type.

Honestly there's not enough hackers out there to ruin the game. If you join a session where hackers are ruining it for others just switch sessions and be done with it.

I dont think it has anything to do with the consoles being taxed...rather I believe its the cloud servers that are being taxed.

 

In fact if it were taxing the consoles it would not matter if you were playing invite/solo or in a full public lobby.

Yeah, I'm imagining the PC version is the one that will be destroyed within weeks. All the beautiful and positive mods count for nothing against a god mode/paralyse/bank drain/rape you mod.

When me and our partner were playing, our consoles would often freeze at the exact same moment in different rooms.

But I'm not a Rockstar hater, they're 100x better than EA, so I cut them some slack.

When I encounter a modder/hacker I do change lobbies. Thats not the point.

If R* wasnt spending so much time repairing/hot patching/resetting/combatting these tools those much discussed heists(and probably much more) wouldve already dropped.
