Do you guys think we'll be able to right click on a friend playing GTAV and use steam's join feature to easily launch online and directly into their online session?

It's only a "PC game" since June 2014. The trailer was for the last-gen consoles, which was what the game was originally advertised for. We can't say we've been waiting for the PC version for 3 years if the announcement was only this year. Knowing Rockstar, no one should've been expecting the PC version any time since the start.

 

um..what? did you just crawl from under a rock or something? we have myriad of rock solid evidence that the PC version was in existence and development for a long, long time before it was even announced. just because rockstar didn't formally and officially announce it, doesn't mean informed people weren't aware of it's existence. we can say and we have been waiting for 3 years. personally speaking, i began waiting official news on the PC version right after october 24 2011, foolishly thinking rockstar would change the way they treated PC gamers. that's just about 3 years ago. and i know there's innumerable others who did the same.

That's not what I meant. We didn't know the build logs existed in 2011, so in 2011 we weren't really supposed to be (whether you did or not, that's your discretion, but in general...) expecting a PC version at release.

Officially speaking, yeah. What about the build logs, though? Those were hardly official, yet they're more legitimate than some of the PR bull Rockstar spews with great frequency.

 

In general, we've been waiting since 2011. Everyone knew a PC version was going to be a thing at some point. There was no official announcement, yes. However, there was no need for one. So the fact that Rockstar refused to formally announce the existence of one is almost an insult to the intelligence of the fanbase.

 

Nevertheless, what's done is done. We're here now. The PC version has been worked hard on for at least two years now. I'm confident that It'll be a technological marvel. Others may not share the same optimism, and that's fine. We'll see what happens come launch day.

 

 

the logs were 100% official, "non-official" proof of the PC version. hell, even the rockstar social club files leak from 2012 was definitive proof of it's existence. then there were the ifruit app files that came a few weeks before the console launch and a bunch of other smaller "leaks" before and after that. we had TONS of incontrovertible proof that a PC version was in existence and far along in it's dev cycle before rockstar decided to actually announce it.

 

unfortunately, even once it was announced for PC, it seemed like more of a secondary thought as the PS4/console versions were/will be paraded as the "next-gen" experiences. that's why we only see "coming to PS4/XB1 and PC this Fall". PC is listed last.

 

all this despite the logs showing that a lot of effort went into the PC version this time around and the PC version being the base for the new gen console ports. but that's just game developers being game developers....they're after that mulah and don't really give a sh*t about anything else.

 

i'm done ranting.

oh, i see. but, given rockstar's past history with big GTA titles and PC, i believe we had a good basis to assume it was going to come eventually. for the most part, it was only extreme pessimists, naysayers and ignorant console only people who were saying it wasn't going to be released for PC. there were also a few minor PC related leaks that came out around that time, btw. these further supported those early assumptions. it seemed silly to beleive rockstar would suddenly drop PC support for such an anticipated GTA......a non-release never crossed my mind.

Not necessarly true.

 

When V was announced to be in development back in 2011, no support (console or PC) was announced. It may implied that they didn't know what they would do, who knows?

 

If I remember correctly, the consoles only release was announced when the leaked spring release posters showed up with the PS3 and 360 logos and no PC/Steam logo. So around the end of 2012.

Sure, but it's less then 2 weeks until Fall starts without a release date.

I've been waiting to get a monster-truck on both GTA IV and V, when we finally get one I can't afford it, now I can.

 

 

Who cares how much the jobs pay lol. That's not the point at all of those missions. They're just fun coop missions to play, and they are free. Who cares? And the monster truck thing stinks, but i'm glad it's limited to specific weeks, that way there's not ridiculous monsters trucks and hover cars flying all over the place. The more silly content they release, the more absurd the online will get. If they limit the use of silly stuff, it'll make those events more special and more fun. We already have jet fighters, littlebirds, and tanks driving all over the streets of Los Angeles....

Sure, but it's less then 2 weeks until Fall starts without a release date.

 

 

So? They confirmed it's coming in Fall, and it will. They can announce a date after the release date for all they care. It'll still set records lol.

 

The date will come and the release date will follow. Don't sweat it.

The monster truck was in no way OP compared to any other "Silly" thing in the game, the huge dumpster comes to mind.

 

Amazingly, in a world like GTA V, the only vehicle you find silly is the monster truck, that says a lot. Why not just get rid of all the cars, keep the Zentoro, Adder and Entity FX.

I'm sure the files are still there somewhere, it's only a matter of activating it in-game.

Perhaps Rockstar will announce the final release date for the current-gen versions and Steam info for the PC version one month before they are to be released, like they did for mobile versions of the main 3D era of GTA, i think it seems very likely...

 

That would make sense and go along what I was told since the beginning, but right now I hope it gets announced soon even if it releases in November only, it would be nice to have something new to look and speculate about.

 

 

Teasing heists doesn't necessarily mean no next-gen info. Actually, they could even be advertised WITH the next-gen stuff.

 

Smart guy...

 

 

That, and the chance heists are actually the full-on 'Cops and Crooks' mode that has been in development since 2009 on GTA IV, would make it worthwhile.

 

I'm still assuming heists are to be released with the next-gen version as an update for the older builds, and as a day one update for next-gen.

 

... and another.

 

The fact is they could just release Heists tomorrow if they want but they are waiting for something, maybe the same they are waiting for the PC/CG info.

I never say that they are doing a bad job or is a bad thing, i say that is annoying . Also we dont know if the game is not ready to release. Perhaps is ready but they are waiting that sony and microsoft one sells more "next gen" consoles

I never say that they are doing a bad job or is a bad thing, i say that is annoying . Also we dont know if the game is not ready to release. Perhaps is ready but they are waiting that sony and microsoft one sells more "next gen" consoles
