Independence FM Confirmed? I guess...

New radio station and songs exclusive to PC, nice. They keep confirming the release date in the newswire posts, I think this one is the final one(April 14th), it has been long enough for them to "polish" the game. They have a little over a month after the Heists release to sort everything out with the caos that the GTA Online Heists release is going to be, so they better get everything ready for the mass number of players coming online on the 14th.

I haven't seen them mention it so far in the newswire posts, but I think it's implied that with every GTA game release on PC, you can go ahead and listen to your songs.

Actually, would be hilarious if Independence FM wasn't included, Rockstar's excuse for not doing it on consoles was because they wanted players to listen to their soundtrack and how it sculpted the city and atmosphere, so, seems fair to not include it on PC as well for the same reason! Instead PC get more Rockstar Sculptures.

Doesn't that imply that Rockstar thinks less of IV/SA's atmosphere and "sculpting"? Those games had some amazing thematic achievements for their time, and Rockstar clearly had no issue with custom radios being in play there. But I guess they just couldn't hold back their ego this time around.

 

Oh well. I don't really use Independence FM anymore anyway. Other people, though...

It's nice, like the first half hour, then it becomes a bit annoying to listen to as it actually kinda ruins the atmosphere.

Still nice to have the option, though.

Nothing is for sure, but licensing costs a lot of money, and Independence FM kinda removes any need of this.

Music DLC could be a thing, perhaps not for GTAV, but the next title. Do not freak out.

It's been such a standard feature in GTA PC games that it doesn't need advertising. We'll get Independence FM. Also I've been wondering, I would not be amazed if the only reason they delayed the game was because of the radio station changes.

Even if Independence FM didn't make it into the game, which seems rather unlikely to me, it's not that big of a deal in my opinion. The soundtrack is great as is, and the future additions will expand on it.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Independence FM will be in. Custom radio has been a PC tradition since III. And even console-wise, not only was the feature in the Original Xbox games, but every version of V except for PS3 is able to play your own music, as well (yes, it's not exactly on a radio station, but it's still possible). Heck, the iOS ports (including CTW) and even the PSP versions of LCS/VCS have the option.

 

I don't see the possibility going away anytime soon; like Spider-Vice said, it's practically a given whether it's advertised or not; and in the off chance that it doesn't make it in, I'm fairly confident that modders will take the liberty to do it themselves.

To subside Point 4 however, it's better to treat PlayStation's more like a Subscription service, they give you games each month across all their platforms, there are plenty of people out there who don't even bother buying games on a PS3/4, all they do is subscribe and play the games they get in the subscription, and it's actually big titles too in most cases, I've played plenty of games I wouldn't have normally tried thanks to PS+ and even now, it creates this Steam like effect of having a huge f*cking back log, I'm only just working through games I bought, but on the PS+ side I have like 50 unplayed games that I can go to when I like (one of them being Yakuza 4, I've always wanted to play those crazy games).

 

edit: I guess it could be better summed up as a Netflix style service.

at the end of the day, you're still paying to play online which you don't have to do on pc. any extra goodies they add to the subscription is to help soften that fact with fluff.

 

The whole, pay for online thing, is seriously over-exaggerated. Sure, you pay, but it's like what, $40 a year? With tons of free AAA games available to download and 2 more games coming every month, it's very worth the price.

 

EDIT: It's 6 games if you count 2 PS3 games, 2 PS4 games, and 2 PS Vita games.

idk what triple A games you get on your psplus but for me it's always indie trash that I have no interest in.

 

besides $50 a year that i don't have to spend just to play online is $50 i can spend anywhere else. or on games ill actually play and enjoy from steam sales. high quality games not generic indie garbage.

Pretty much a lot of them are AAA. Sure there's a lot of indies, but not that much (not how much you've exaggerated).

You never replied to my early point about people who subscribed (5 Million of them) BEFORE it became a requirement for Online. If anything, I think you couldn't twist it, so you just ignored it.

 

I think if Steam offered the same, PC gamers would do it to, pay £40 a year to get over £150 worth of games chosen at random every month.

Once again, don't freak out. I'm going to contradict my last post but yes I do have high hopes that Independence FM will make it (as said, it is a "standard" now).

Yet you never know, music DLC sounds weird to some, but I can see it happening in a future title.

no matter how or what you try to spin, consoles require you to unlock a part of the game that you purchased. you can't get around that fact.
