Preorder month

  1. 1. When will the preorder option on steam be available for GTA V PC?

Recommended Posts

which online store sells it for 35 euros?

Nuuvem has it for 35$, and since is a rockstar key and not a steam key then is probably not region locked.

Sweet just saw GMG selling the game for about $43 with a coupon code.. though it's not the Steam version I'd much prefer paying that much considering I bought the game 3 times already.

Yeah GMG is sweet, too bad Rockstar isn't. GMG usually sells Steam keys for their games, but not GTA V. Rockstar won't allow it. That's why nobody has the steam key for sale anywhere out there. It's just not available. Rockstar wants to funnel all the money through their own service as much as possible to reap the maximum profits at the cost of screwing over their fanbase by taking away their total choice.

Green Man Gaming has a 23% off the pre-order price for people who still want to pre-order this, also included is a steam key for San Andreas + the steam pre-order bonuses 1.3m + 300k cash.

Referenced from Kotaku:

I would have nabbed this, when they sent me an email with the code, but unfortunately it doesn't redeem on steam, only Rockstar's DRM.

10 Mb/s ADSL, but I dont get more than 9 Mb/s download.

46$ is still too much, it's should've been 30$ on steam and 20$ for other sellers.

took the "expression" right out my face

When you go to the store to buy... bread, for example, do you also bitch about its price being too high?

Well, taking into account your analogy, yes, I would bitch about the price being too high if the bread was 17 months old. :p

But the bread you're getting will be fresh and new, closer to the bread that's only 2 months old.

Warehouse server > Steam server purely for the reason more people buy from Steam than Warehouse.

Steam also has a sh*t ton more servers than Warehouse will. I've pre-ordered dozens of games from Steam and have never had a problem hitting my max speeds with pre-loads or downloading after official launches. IMO its irrelevant. I pull 20 mbps all the time on Steam and have during heavy loads (i.e. free games given away by the service, during major sales, etc).

The real area where Steam trumps Warehouse for me is updates. All games on Steam, no matter if they have secondary DRM (i.e. uPlay) are required by Valve to have their their updates pushed through Steam.. So if you work during the day and want the big new update to be downloaded while you're working, you can't necessarily do that with Warehouse automatically, on Steam I can set it to auto-update or use my phone to tell it to DL. It's also unknown yet if Warehouse will install the way Steam does. IE I download a game on Steam, it finishes DLing and its already installed aside from redists. Its unknown yet how Warehouse will handle this. Will you have to DL and THEN do a long ass install? That's the way it was for uPlay up until just this year. You'd download X GBs and then have to wait another however long it took to install like the olden days. Same thing with patches.

The ease Steam provides just trumps any other service. I know exactly what I'm getting and how its going to handle the nuts and bolts of installation/updates etc. Warehouse has more unknowns at this moment. It may well be like Steam in certain respects, but they don't have the track record at the moment.

Not sure about that, they're heavily promoting Warehouse edition and ignore the Steam edition. This is the first time they actually promote their own digital service unlike Max Payne 3.

Well yeah. Of course they're going to promote the Warehouse version over the Steam version. They make more money with each one of those that is sold rather than losing 20-30% per copy to Valve. I would promote my game the same way. The fact that they're "ignoring" the Steam version means absolutely nothing in respect to anything I said. Rockstar want more money, they're going to push their version.

Again, if someone wants to go with Warehouse thats their business and its going to be the same game, but w/e Rockstar is doing in terms of distribution and the way handle updates is a complete unknown right now. Its known exactly how the Steam version will be handled at least in respect to the core game download and updates. Obviously, everyone will be using Social Club for Online, including Steam owners. Id rather go with the known rather than the unknown.

Best thing about this is that the servers for those of us that bought it on Steam will not be as loaded as we thought. A lot of people don't care about Steam and bought it through GMG, Nuuvem or R* Warehouse, so it's going to be downloaded from their servers not Steam's.

If you dont buy it from Steam, you're downloading it from Rockstar. All GMG/Amazon/Etc purchasers get is an activation key for Rockstar's distribution method, whatever they end up doing.

What is this overwhelming fear of overloaded servers? lol it just doesnt happen often on Steam, even if the Community or Store is slow, DL servers don't get hammered often unless you're in a region that has very few to begin with. That should be the last thing anyone should be worrying about.

Both the Warehouse and Steam will handle this fine. Rockstar's download is handled by the same company that handles Microsoft's corporate downloads, so that should tell you something.

lol this talks of Steam version and Warehouse version. They're the same, dummies. It changes nothing if for us they're promoting Warehouse over Steam. Hell, Steam is none of Rockstar's business, it's just another store selling their game.

So does that mean we will have a fast download, or no?

There are a billion factors involved, I'm just saying there's a high chance of things being smooth as it's a nice content distributor.

I understand, I mean considering that there will be thousands of users downloading the game, I can see that as the biggest factor.

Hopefully the servers don't crash. :p

E-f*cking-xactly. It's Rockstar who calls the cards on that aspect, not Valve.

Question 1: I'm worried about potential censorship of the game. for know the only countries i know that have some features of the game cut down are japan and germany. I'm italian and i'm afraid something like this could happen here. Any way to check? (p.s. is the steam version uncut?)

Question 2: Guys, any chance we'll know if the game supports steam workshop BEFORE the release date? (It's the main reason i could get the game on steam as well)
