I just want to get the game (pre order, which I haven't done yet) for modding purposes. Plan to create some great mods and help the community mod.

 

EDIT: Mods like scripting like in GTAIV.

Important question.

I'm interested in buying both retail and steam version. (steam to play at day one/achievements, english retail for collectionism) (A retail copy would also come handy if some mods don't work well with steam)

 

Is it possible to activate the steam version on the social club (regular procedure) and then play a retail copy with the same rockstar social club account?

Guys, don't wanna sound like a moralist...but i'd strongly advice you to not try these "tricks" to save on a single game.

Sure 60 dollars is quite a lot!

But if you wanted to buy the game you must have already saved at least 40 dollars.

I'm sure there's an easy way to gather 20 bucks in a month.

Maybe try selling one or two games from your library (retail, if any).

I know it sounds painful, but sometimes you gotta do it.

I did it myself to fund GTA V (Poor The Last Of Us Remastered & Pikmin 3 ç ___ ç)

 

And remember we are talking about GTA V PC here! Not a shabby little insignificant game

 

(Thou i understand people who have already played the game complaining about the high price)

You'd probably be more likely to die in an accident or win the lottery before Steam blocks your account for a single purchase over VPN.

Steam also has a sh*t ton more servers than Warehouse will. I've pre-ordered dozens of games from Steam and have never had a problem hitting my max speeds with pre-loads or downloading after official launches. IMO its irrelevant. I pull 20 mbps all the time on Steam and have during heavy loads (i.e. free games given away by the service, during major sales, etc).

 

The real area where Steam trumps Warehouse for me is updates. All games on Steam, no matter if they have secondary DRM (i.e. uPlay) are required by Valve to have their their updates pushed through Steam.. So if you work during the day and want the big new update to be downloaded while you're working, you can't necessarily do that with Warehouse automatically, on Steam I can set it to auto-update or use my phone to tell it to DL. It's also unknown yet if Warehouse will install the way Steam does. IE I download a game on Steam, it finishes DLing and its already installed aside from redists. Its unknown yet how Warehouse will handle this. Will you have to DL and THEN do a long ass install? That's the way it was for uPlay up until just this year. You'd download X GBs and then have to wait another however long it took to install like the olden days. Same thing with patches.

 

The ease Steam provides just trumps any other service. I know exactly what I'm getting and how its going to handle the nuts and bolts of installation/updates etc. Warehouse has more unknowns at this moment. It may well be like Steam in certain respects, but they don't have the track record at the moment.

Not sure about that, they're heavily promoting Warehouse edition and ignore the Steam edition. This is the first time they actually promote their own digital service unlike Max Payne 3.

Nope. The game downloads as-is and is encrypted.

preload to a hdd and move the files over to the right path on the SSD after decrypting, then remove the game from the main steam library and 'download' it to the steam library on the ssd - it'll hash the original files and use those

You can get them for free on the R* website though, and add 'em as a non-steam game(s).

You used to be able to download them from here: http://www.rockstargames.com/classics/, but as you can see they're currently unavailable.

I will not buy it for $60. That is a fact. If I can get it for below $40 I will buy it. But no more than that as that's what you expect a 1.5 year old game should cost. Especially digital.

Yeah! Because banning someone for mods in GTA Online with VAC would be fair! Banning the player from all VAC related steam games in the process REALLY helps the community.

 

Getting VAC banned means you'll only get banned from games using the same engine. If you get VAC banned from Counter Strike Source, you lose access to all secured Source servers (Not sure if CSGO is included in this)

 

Edit: You also get this really nice badge on your account profile, so people know you're an asshole. So you're somewhat right.

 

Don't you think the badge looks beautiful? I think VAC shouldn't be on GTA Online because then I can't play it
