There's a chance Rockstar left those build logs on the game disc on purpose, sure. But to go as far as to fake something in a marketing move that will only be noticed by people who give enough of a sh*t to dig into the game's files? Very far-fetched.

 

We don't actually have a lot of games to use as proper comparisons. Because Rockstar hasn't released a PC game since 2012. The only HD games we have from them are IV (EFLC included) and Max Payne 3. LA Noire is there, but it's not RAGE, and the base game wasn't made the Rockstar. Just the port (Leeds).

 

The facts are: IV was sh*t. Max Payne 3 was great.

 

IV was 6 years ago, on a brand new, young engine, worked on by a team that has had no prior experience with PC RAGE/Rockstar titles. On top of all that, they were rushed. The PC version was put together in a matter of months, not years.

 

Max Payne 3 was 2 years ago, on a now mature engine, worked on by a team that clearly had a better idea of what they were doing. They were also given plenty of time to work on the game, as development on the PC version went alongside the console versions.

 

Yes, Max Payne 3 was linear. It is not, by any means, a properly comparable game to V in terms of how it'll perform out in the open world. However, the improvements done to the RAGE engine in the 6 years that have passed since IV should not be ignored. The engine has matured, and the teams working with it have as well (in terms of experience).

 

Based on all of this, the logical conclusion is that V should at least be decent. However, there have been games recently that defied logic. Like ACU, and the fact that it issues 50,000 draw calls on DX11. So it's insanely difficult to tell what we'll end up getting.

 

As with ANY game, PC or not, the best course of action is to wait. Wait for the reviews, the tests and the results. Then buy the game if all is well.

 

That's the objective best course of action, of course. One that is 100% in your favor as a consumer. Personally, I'm buying the game either way. I have come too far not to.

A lot of Kids are playing GTA V and R* know it > they concentrate more on console ( more money)

And this game needs some mods to fix things r* wont change , just look at the texture of the hedges lol

Really want to know if retail copies will come with steam keys. I know that MP3 didn't but I hope GTA V does.

No, with physical copies of steam games, the disc will open steam (or install it if you don't have it), once you enter the key, steam will take the files from the disc then download whatever else it needs.

This is the only thing that has me questioning the current release date. January 27th. That's how many keys they have to type in to Steam to update us and confirm the date. Yet they are either A) too lazy (not a stretch for Rockstat) or B) not confident that this will be the day the game is coming out for PC. It's one or the other, and frankly neither is good.

 

 

 

Or C) they have not posted system requirements, steam does not want too have pre-sales open because of that. Because people will purchase it thinking "My pc can run this", and then they cant.

That indeed seems to be the deal here, and judging by the steady amount of players yesterday they probably were benchmarking the game.

 

I think that next week we'll see some system requirements and the steam page with a pre-order button.

It was bad in GTA IV. When you would crank it up the whole way, the streets would be filled with traffic jams even at night. I think Rocktar should put the correct amount themselves.

If the dedicated servers get going to allow mods online, the sliders mean nothing as the server sets levels like that.

 

It is then about the game the server is running, could be GTA Online or a total conversion....
