While waiting for GTA V I'm trying several games out, like Wreckfest.

 

Even in it's alpha stage, it's a lot of fun!!! With proper optimization and better antialiasing, this can be a hella awesome game.

I'm also hanging around in space, but with Distant Worlds Universe. Trying to manage my empire in a 1400 star galaxy, competing with 37 alien races and atleast as many pirate factions. So addictive that it let's me almost forget GTAV. Almost.

Probably some news next week(Tuesday 6th), following with pre-order on the 12th and the trailer dropping one week before(like on current gen) on the 19-20th.

Those are my predictions, but as we all know Rockstar is unpredictable as sh*t so if this is right it'll be god damn luck.

Right and what was the timing of that delay? Over 2 months before the scheduled release. This matters. They didn't do it a day or two or even a week before release. It was a substantial amount of time prior. We'll be 3 weeks from release on Tuesday and its entirely possible that even by Tuesday we have news or even better. I personally think we'll see some movement this coming week be it in the Steam store page getting tidied up/updated properly or maybe pre-orders opening.

 

Of course this game can be delayed at any time, but to base the possibility of a new delay on a. Weirdness on the Steam store page or b. because DIGITAL pre-orders are not yet available or c. because of delays with other games released in the past is completely silly and pessimism for no reason. There is not one iota of proof that a delay is incoming, in fact Rockstar themselves recently commented that there is no delay right now and they are on track for 1/27 (that answer on the support site).

 

A few things are absolutely clear right now. They have made physical version sales a priority. This is not a surprise. Rockstar will make a significant amount more $$ per copy sold physically at Rockstar Warehouse or even Amazon than they will from digital pre-orders on Steam. I don't understand why people are making such a fuss over this. If the digital pre-order is made available 2 weeks before release, that's more than enough time. Hell, if its only 1 week before release thats more than enough time as pre-loads will still launch in the window necessary for those with horrible DL speeds.

 

Everyone needs to relax and stop the crazy speculation and baseless rumor mongering. There is no point to any of it other than creating more bullsh*t. There is not one sign one way or another pointing to an impending delay and even if it does get delayed its not going to be discernible because of something occurring on the damn Steam page. Rockstar don't give a damn about Steam right now.

Let's see if we can prove the image fake. This time by evidence, not knee-jerk reaction.

 

For those unfamiliar, scrtagnt posted an image of his library similar to the one above, many months ago (July?). Here..

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It wasn't proven to be fake, but it wasn't proven to be real either. The thickness of the font looks odd to me, but that could be compression of sorts? I dunno.

It wasn't V since the start. The old icon was just the "Grand Theft Auto V" font with a black background, as shown in the old picture from 2014.

If this is fake, I gotta admit that it's really, really good prepared.

But... did you notice that fonts are really sharp? I took a sample screenshot of steam page (in 1080p resolution) and when I zoomed it it didn't look so sharp. There was a lot od visible compression effects near the font, even when I saved it in .png without compression. Nevermind, it's just a ClearType in Windows as BlackScout said.

Windows ClearType Font Smoothing was disabled.

 

 

You can do the same, just disable it and restart Steam.

It's on Windows System settings.

I did that error level analysis thing, and compared a print screen of my own of Steam with his, and honestly there seem to be no fake artifacts. However, he was also smart, he saved as png, which is virtually lossless and any changes wouldn't be caught by the error level analysis as it relies on JPEG artifacts. f*cking smartass.

Nothing is stopping you from playing it when V comes out. I still play GTA III, the driving around the map in the game feels the best to me.

nvidia will launch the 960 almost one week before the game and they probably know what we need to play the game ... is 960 the performance card that we need for rec specs ?...
