Preorder month

  1. 1. When will the preorder option on steam be available for GTA V PC?

It's January 30th for me.

Why delay it an extra 3 days?

Weird stuff!

Where does it say that?

Usually games in Europe are out on fridays but this one was going to release worldwide on Tuesday, like it did on 360 and PS3.

"President of TK2 Karl Slatoff, said that the upcoming Xbox One and PS4 versions of GTA V could also help sell hardware"

And that is the reason why PC was delayed. The agreement with sony and microsoft is clear now.

The greed is real

source:http://www.gamespot.com/articles/why-youll-buy-gta-5-again-on-xbox-one-ps4-pc-accor/1100-6422411/

nonsense! the delay is obviously for better optimization. rockstar would NOT lie to us..

i kid, i kid.

don't need an official source stating the obvious. anyone with half a brain and some common sense could see the greed involved here.

Did someone actually believe the "polishing" excuse?

most people, probably. unfortunately.

now that the devil has revealed his true face on record all that R sucking up and ass kissing can stop.

there will continue to be people who keep rockstar's cock balls deep inside their mouths no matter what.

Oh, I believe 27th was originally a date for US and 30th was meant for us Europeans.

The amount of stupid in this thread continues to astound me. I swear I lose brain cells everytime I read it.

Rockstar are not out to "get you", they arn't on some quest to personally insult you or make your life miserable. They haven't delayed the PC version because they hate PC gamers or they hate your grandma.

They are a business, they exist to make a product people enjoy and while doing so make as much money as possible. They are doing what makes the most sense from a profitablility and time stand point. Has Sony or Microsoft paid them for some sort of exclusivity? Probably. Does that extend beyond some sort of exclusive marketing deal? Probably not. There is a reason everything show has been from the PS4.

Do I think that Sony or Microsoft would want the PC version to not launch same day? Yes, that wouldn't surprise me but I personally don't think Rockstar or Take-Two would agree to that type of deal if Sony or Microsoft offered it. Financially they probably stand to make more in the long run than they would upfront from the deal and let's be honest, they arn't hurting for cash right now.

Do they want to make more money? Yes, they are a business and it's not because they are all greedy f*cks setting back on thrones made of $100 bills while masturbating to the thought of your internet rage. If you think that you are a f*cking idiot.

Do they think GTA V on PS4/One will sell hardware? Yes, so does anyone else with 2 braincells to rub together.

Do they want to do better than GTA IV on PC? I guarentee you they do. GTA IV on PC was a mess and in my personal opinion I think the developers were kinda of embarassed of it. Regardless it has a huge community on the PC and they recognize that. No one with any sense would ever deny the fact that optimizing a game for the PC is much more difficult and takes more time than it does when you are dealing with a closed set of hardware. The polishing excuse could be 100% valid. We may never know 100% for sure as Rockstar rarely goes into details but I believe them when they say they want to do better.

Does Rockstar hate PC Gamers? No. They hate things that do not make financial sense. Am I disappinted that Red Dead Redemption never made it to PC? Yes, I am. It is one of my favorite games of all time and I would have loved for it to come to PC but from everthing I have heard/read (keep in mind none of this was ever officially said, so we have to view it in context) it didn't make financial sense to rework the game to a point that a PC version would have worked. From what people have said they were amazed it even made it out on the 360/PS3. If this is indeed true then I can understand their reasoning, no matter how much it disappoints me. The thought they are some sort of super villian standing back saying "Screw PC gamers because reasons!" just doesn't make any sense.

Are you all going to continue to bitch and moan, wear your tinfoil hats and post your theories on the Internet and still buy the PC version when it comes out anyways? Probably.

Now, anyone who looks back at my posting history or my Twitter, you'll see there have been times where I've bought into the hysteria (usually as soon as it happens, then I cool down and look at it rationally and chuckle at what an idiot I was being) and made comments similar in tone to what I've been reading in this thread. I fully understand that but once your initial rage at it goes away there is no reason why there are 20+ pages of this bullsh*t still going on after the announcement.

I remember a quote from a certain someone on these forums. I think it applies well to this post of yours.

"It's a business" used to mean that a company would care about its customers. However, thanks to todays zombified generation of youth we have people thanking corporations for f*cking them in the ass and attacking people for pointing it out. Sad state of affairs in the world today.

<snip to keep this message from being insanely long>

Finally! Someone with a head on their shoulders. It's a miracle.

Joking aside, you are absolutely right. Many of the people in this thread have been quite pathetic and think that Rockstar (and Facebook as well?) as a company are just as immature and childish as they are.

I suspect there is a legitimate cause for the pushed-back release. A company is not going to blindly hurt their reputation and risk losing public faith for no good reason.

There's only one pathetic thing I'm spotting, and that's the fact that so many armchair businessmen are ready and able to support poor community relations and management, all in the name of textbook corporate money making (which only works so well for Rockstar because they're so f*cking gargantuan and make such amazing games).

Rockstar Games and Take-Two interactive can go about making as much money as they please, within their ability to attract people into buying their stuff, of course. However, the issue here is that there is no direct or even indirect community interaction and clarification on the decisions they make. Not everything should be visible to the public, I'm not saying more delicate matters need to be revealed.

I don't believe Rockstar hates anyone. I don't believe Take-Two hates anyone. I most certainly do not believe they refuse to bring their games to a certain customer base simply because they don't prefer that platform. If the demand is there, so are they.

Does any of this justify the absolutely abysmal PR that's been going on? The horribly mistimed decisions and schedules? I don't think it does.

There is one simple thing Rockstar must do to improve themselves. One simple thing that will cost them nothing.

Be more open with your customers.

That's it. That's the f*cking gist of it. Smaller companies like Overkill Software and Starbreeze Studios have THRIVED IMMENSELY because of this, and even big companies like Valve did as well (though in Valve's case, they've been very closed about the stuff they have in development).

Nothing abnormal is being asked. More clarification on these sudden delays and changes of plans are necessary. You can't just say "We need to polish it more" in a comments section somewhere. Dedicate a part of the article to it and say; "Here's the situation with the PC version, here's when it's coming. Be patient and good things will come. Until then, enjoy these screenshots and stay tuned for more info."

That's all we need. A tiny bit of honesty at the very least, with a lot more openness with your customer base.

^Agreed. I would love it if they actually used the Newswire to do things like weekly updates and stuff, but no, we get the silent treatment.

I wonder why they have community managers if they literally do nothing. One year ago I already had a contact with one of their CMs about some question related to a press-event and I got brilliant answer "Sorry, I can't talk about my job". Excuse me, but who the f*ck are you then if you don't wanna talk about your job? I thought community manager gets his money exactly for talking about his job. That's their community interaction in a nutshell.

Just got the info that the GTA V CG version will release in 21 november here in Brazil. Does this mean that the PC version will also have the two days delay?

Thought it was ignored, but I've developed a thought about it: it won't be delayed because Steam games don't get the "region-delay", right?

Current-Gen aka Consoles, not the PC.

Hell, he said 21 November =P

Actually it was a self quote and I failed sorting the "date-thing" in English, but it means the 21st day of November.

And well, you know, I was just wondering if there's a chance of happening such delay, which is very unlikely.

I don't disagree with you at all but not being very forthcoming and open != Evil mega corp who hates pc and goes out of their way to spite them at every turn

If you read this thread a good portion of the people here seem to seriously believe the latter.

"Yes, we have sold in 34 million units, which is a lot of units," he said. "The obvious question is, 'Is there anyone else out there who would still buy it?' We happen to believe that there are people out there who have not bought the title yet. We think that GTA V on next-gen platforms could actually really move some hardware as well."

Where are these "R* employees" called Spider Vice and _IG_ now?

R* is greedy, I hope they sell nothing on the PC version!!!

I wouldn't want that because I'd like to have GTA VI on PC.

And hopefully on the same date as Xbox One and PS4 next time...

I'm only afraid that Current Gen consoles are gonna be quite outdated by the time GTA VI releases, so PC version won't look much better, unless they pull this trick again and release it on PS5 and next Xbox.

Judging by amount of time they take with GTA games, new consoles can release in the same year as GTA VI.

I believe that's only part of the problem, unfortunately. While some people take it more seriously than others, I think the root of the problem is the initial lack of clarification on what Rockstar thinks of the PC release. They haven't exactly shown confidence, which is something they needed to do after IV's flop.

I'm not asking for the PC to be put on a pedestal, but a small token of reassurance can go a long way. When they initially announced the new versions, they could have said or at least hinted at something along the lines of;

"For PC gamers, we are aware that the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV was a disappointment to many. As such, we can assure you that we have been taking our time to improve the engine on PC as much as possible. Please do stay tuned in the coming months for more info specific to the PC version, such as system requirements and pre-order details. In the meantime, we will be sharing information relevant to all 3 major versions of the game in the coming weeks."

I just think that a lot of this apathy from Rockstar has built up irrational hatred within a lot of people. They're angry, but not because of the lack of communication (which is the root of the problem), but because they take the lack of communication as a negative and nothing else. They do not perceive it as something wrong with the company, they simply perceive it as a personal attack on the PC as a platform. I believe this is a very wrong way to look at things, and that my fellow PC gamers should be more open-minded when it comes to dealing with Rockstar's silence. They don't stay silent because they hate you, they stay silent because they've always done this, and it's a very rooted problem that needs to be solved. It is not specific to the PC situation at all.

It has been a week, I don't even care to the delay anymore, right now I just wanna play this sh*t.

But... Of course I would like a Dec/Nov release, if possible...

And hey.

Keep acting like an angry R* hater isn't going to push it forward.

The initial anger is normal, we weren't expecting this, but after a week or more, IDK, waste of time.

Saying that would make them look weak, for them it's best just not so say a word about it.

On the contrary, it would actually make them appear noble and accepting of their mistakes in the past. They appear doubly weak by simply denying that the entire thing ever happened, never acknowledging how much of a technical disaster it was.

They could have easily shown a fraction of empathy by saying something similar to what I suggested. To show that they understand what the community thinks and what the general consensus is. It would make a lot of people go "Well hey, at least they know IV was a flop and they're trying to improve, kudos to them".

Then again, maybe they don't need to say it. Maybe they just need to prove it with their actions. That is something we will have to wait and witness for ourselves. As I have said in the past, the PC version of V will speak for itself just fine. No PR needed.

GTA V Is On PC

Imagine coming home from a day violence on the PC version. You actually want to be a good driver for once, so you get stuck in a traffic jam. Then, the skies start to get dark and a storm like this rolls in. You must roll up your windows to keep the rain out.

tumblr_mr2mm2G4mx1rfuijjo1_400.gif

After the storm passes, the skies clear and it becomes a sunny day out with leftover puddles from the storm. You spend the rest of the day playing tennis in the newly remastered tennis court at Michael's house, then switch to Franklin to spend the night with Chop.

Four months people... four months.

So, you guys think they'll say something tomorrow??

I started to draw my attention to the Newswire at Fridays and not Tuesdays anymore... =P

Also, tomorrow, GAME24 will be fully running; the nVidia event =)

I don't think there will be GTA, as R* supposedly has a partnership with AMD... But It'll be a day with lots of focus to the PC Platform *maybe i'm talking sh*t idk*

I would be happy with some screenshots and requirements, but even more with a new release date unlikely and a PC Trailer...

Do it Rockstar xDD

Ease the pain for us...

I'm pretty sure they won't partner with AMD. They'll go with the green pasture just like they did with Max Payne 3.

If this tragedy happens again, then the game will run worse than GTA IV on my PC. Since I use AMD, NVADIA will sabotage AMD once more with their gamesworks.

EDIT: Let's cross our fingers to this not happen, we don't want a GTA IV nor watch_downgrs optimization for GTA V.

Rockstar isn't stupid, and neither are they lazy (the developers at least). They won't be touching Gameworks at all.

Rockstar does most of their stuff in-house. Gameworks is not required. If they're gonna optimize the game, they'll optimize it evenly for both NVIDIA and AMD.

Plus, I'm sure they saw what happened with WD and Gameworks, so they'll want to make doubly sure not to fall into the same trap.

I think you're putting a bit too much faith in R*, but I hope you're right. I'm an Nvidia gamer, and I see every other PC gamer (no matter what brand of CPU or GPU) as a brother.

Also, I hate it when the whole forum community throws a bitch-fit (remember Ubisoft Forums on WD's release? My favourite part was people complaining that Ubi didn't tell anyone about DX11 cards required(even though it was on the official system reqs.)).
