I agree with you, especially with all these updates in just a couple of days, I'm guessing they are finally preparing for the release on Steam by next week or 2 weeks from now.

Consider this; a September release is not that unlikely.

 

The reason for the lack of news? The team was harder at work to get the game ready to release sooner and push it into the September window.

 

Maybe, just maybe, Rockstar saw an opportunity to squeeze some more work out of their time window and get the game done quicker as a surprise. Hence the almost non-existent marketing efforts, lol.

 

Believe it or not, these things do happen. Heck, Shadow of Mordor was pushed forward a week or two. I believe it was supposed to release on October 7th, but it is now releasing on September 30th. These things happen. I think it is possible that a surprise is in store.

 

I don't mean to get anyone's hopes up. This is pure and honest speculation, obviously. It is simply a possibility i'm throwing out there. Just something to think about, that is all.

I think's it's being pushed because they want to announce the game in "gold" status - this month and release it in October / November - if they said Fall 2014 I don't think there's a need to push the release

 

They are working on it hard this week, next week or the week around 17-th of September is the announcement time in my opinion

When does a game go gold? By selling an X amount of copies or something? How many?
