Sooner or later someone will proclaim "Gentlemen, start your engines!"

Before that happens, i'll go check on tires and oil already.

edit: oh boy, i'm hyped.

The .rpf's on PC have the same structure as they do on consoles so all that was needed was the AES key to decrypt them which can be found in the games executable.

What about other file extensions, for texture dictionaries, drawable objects, are they new? Do the DAT files also have a new version?

Forgive my ignorance but could someone explain to me exactly what GooD-NTS found? I mostly got GTA V, since I loved the mods in the previous GTA games, so I was really disheartened to hear that GTA V might never have mods. Is this not the case?

The screenshots NTS posted on the last page were of the OpenIV team's private program, .black, opening the GTA V PC RPF files. So, they found the encryption key, if I understand correctly.

Basically, they can open the package files now, we just need to wait until they have a stable version of the public tool, OpenIV, to release.

Props to GooD-NTS and the team though, you're doing great work for the entire community.

The ability to open GTAV RPFs and it will open the way for simple mods to appear.

For example you can extract "gameconfig.xml" and increase the population.

<ConfigPopulation><ScenarioPedsMultiplier value="100"/><AmbientPedsMultiplier value="100"/><MaxTotalPeds value="200"/><VehicleTimesliceMaxUpdatesPerFrame value="10"/><VehicleUpperLimit value="130"/><VehicleUpperLimitMP value="60"/><VehicleAmbientDensityMultiplier value="100"/><VehicleParkedDensityMultiplier value="100"/><VehicleLowPrioParkedDensityMultiplier value="100"/><VehicleParkedUpperLimit value="100"/></ConfigPopulation>

Thanks to NTA for files.

So, people, how long do you bet it might be before someone comes out with a native trainer? A week? Perhaps longer? And is there any chance sjaak327 (who, for those who don't know, is supposedly the guy behind the Simple Native Trainer for GTA IV + EFLC) is still active..?

EDIT: It appears he's still active on the forums, thankfully, though I'm not totally sure what he's planning or if he's planning anything, so if you're reading this, sjaak, do you have anything you can confirm?

So... Uh does it seem like GTA V will be harder or easier for modders to work with to make mods? My favorite mode in GTA IV was the superman mod. Is that still possible in this game?

Yeah, I remember something like this with Watch Dogs. Though I'm assuming this game will be easier to mod? Is a superman mod still possible?

Months? Try days. Because GTA V was released on the older, exploited consoles nearly 2 years ago most has already been done and a good portion of which (ASI loader, scripthook, .rpf viewing/editing) has already been ported to PC. There isn't much left to do, it's only a matter of time before textures, models, and such are exploited.

I'm hoping to edit character outfits, textures etc. But right now i can't open the .rpf files. Have to wait for SparkV and OpenV i guess. :D

I can confirm I have the intention to try and port the IV trainer to V (SP only). But for that I need smarter guys finding a way to hook into the game engine. Last I heard it doesn't look good on that front, but I hope given time that will be possible as well.

You could always try another trainer with options like god mode and stuff, they are already available.

Check the script information & resources thread, I posted all of the information you'll need to create a successful scripthook.

Great, I also see Blade ported his 365 scripthook to pc. Wow things are looking good.

edit: but must resist the urge to leave the game and start up VS :)

Well here you have the common data from V, once again NTA does it.

http://refint.org/files/common_data.7z

There's no popgroups.meta in gta5/levels.Also, none of the DLC vehicles are listed in vehicles.meta. Ain't that some sh*t.

Funnily enough, one of the dashboard types is called "VDT_DUKES" however.

Yep, it seems like we're actually going to be modding all the common files through the update.rpf. If R* continuously and frequently puts out updates, it could be pretty annoying for those who want to use mods and stay updated.

Wouldn't be surprised if we did nearly all mods through update, really.

DLC vehicles are separate AFAIK. You'll have a separate vehicles.meta for each DLC pack, so you won't find them in common.rpf.

Damn, I kinda figured that'd be the case with update.rpf.

Same with this, I figured they were in a separate .rpf after looking around.
