Grand Theft Auto V PC System Requirement Thread

lol even if they make 2gb VRAM the minimum instead of 4 like it was posted in that click bait site it would make at least half of the players interested in the game to "scrap" it and go for something else.

1gb VRAM minimum is realistic with 2gb recommended. I know R* has no love for PC gamers but a 4gb VRAM minimum would be a mess.

4 gb for minimum it's too much not happening

which in 1gb, i'm still not so sure it will be freezee as hell, long loading, pop up texture everywhere -unplayable

and 2gb will enough to running this game at 1080, hight -30fps

4 gb to run in 2K, hight-ultra 40-60 fps

and sli 4x4 or alone 6 gb vcard for run it in 4K, ultra 60-90 or more

At most you'd only need 2 cards in SLI for decent 60fps @ 4k, anything over 2 cards is a waste anyway, SLI almost always has poor scaling when you go above 2 cards. Not to mention anything over 60fps in 4k is a waste anyway, I've yet to see a 4k monitor that does more than 60hz.

Also, 6GB of VRAM vs 4GB, or even 3GB for that matter isn't going to improve your performance massively. I mean, we're talking differences that are well within the margin of error.

Hello guys.

I know this is my first post but I really want to ask that if these requirements will be OK to play up-coming GTA V on Medium settings or Do I need a upgrade?

Processor: i5 1.8 Ghz Overclocked to 2.8Ghz

RAM: 6GB

Graphics Card: AMD Radeon 7670M (1GB)

Thanks. Please forgive If I am breaking the rules or spamming!

You should be able to play the game, but at more like low settings....

Until the requirements are published, we cannot fully know what to expect.

So now we're talking about our own version of system requirements? Fine. Here's mine.

Minimum: Pentium G3xxx, 4GB RAM, Radeon HD 5770 and GTX equivalent, 55 GB HDD free-space, Windows 7 SP1. Recommended: Core i5-2500, 8GB RAM, Radeon R9 280X - GTX 760, 60 GB HDD free-space, Windows 8.1 x64.

I'm going conservative, looking at how CG consoles performed quite solidly.

I, my friend, would like to salute you. You perfectly gave a reasonable requirement, both for minimum as well as recommended. However, I think it would have DX10 support.

The Radeon R9 280X is a much better card than the GTX 760. The R9 270X is a more reasonable alternative to the aforementioned Nvidia card.

Do you think my laptop will be able to run it on high @ 1080p? It has an i7-3630QM @ 2.4GHz, 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M 4GB GDDR5 and a 512GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD.

That would be great for me! I would be between Medium-High on my 1280x1024 resolution. It's very good imo, for a 3 years old PC. ;)

You mean new video card or new monitor?

If monitor, then nope. I'm far from being a graphic guy, 32k textures and cinema-like resolutions isn't a thing for me ;) Things I love in games graphics are lights, shadows etc. Effects overall. I love rainy weather, which in GTA V NG is f*cking beauty full!!

If graphic card, then, I don't think so. ;) I can play newest games like AC:U, Far Cry 4, Shadow of Mordor, on mid-high settings without overclocking my PC and I'm getting stable FPS (I don't know how much, but it's smooth enough for me).

So yeah, only 2 months and Were all get our answers :)

If his sig is anything to go by, the HD6950 should play this game very well at 1280x1024... I mean, it's an old GPU yeah, but nothing to really sneeze at.

Watching the new gen footage of the game makes me think at one thing: that the game will be dx 11 only. In which case I'm f*cked since I can't upgrade my gpu anymore as planned.

Oh well back to san andreas and youtube videos I guess...

Don't forget "Last Gen Mode". Thats probably the DX9 version.

Listen it's not a problem for me. I have DX11 card but Steam database shows 60% are with DX10 users. They will be f*cked.

I concour. To support the multitude of 1 gig GPU's that are out there, DX10 will be the minimum.... You have to remember that was all the last-gen could handle and they had GTA V for a year.

2015 its the start new gen era of computer and videogames

R* dont give a damn abt this poor losers

if they want play in modern games they need to buy modern hardware or update or GTFO

no 10dx support i dont see this for this game

no switching dx setup it will be only (DX11 or higher) game for some reasons

that -''last gen mode'' just a good legend for stupid kids

no lg mode just because its not be a port from lg consoles

if it will support dx9 or dx10 it will be port from old engine versions xbox360 or ps3 but R* not even confirm that

how it possible? you will never received to see those graphics quality screens from CG consoles, this game wil suppor -4k, -better textures than on consoloes(it had very big ass textures on consoles),-video editor

besides, it will be not support old pc hardware from 2010 or older that meant no switch Lg to Ng for pc

Another 4GB ram stick will be first thing to buy for me definitely. ;) I'm on 4GB right now and it's already not enough sometimes.

And that's what I think about my PC. I remember that, when I was buying it, people already were saying, that GPU will be bottlenecked by my CPU. And it's probably is, but hey, we got an OverClocking :) In the next few days, I will be OCing it. I wan't to be ready for GTA :colgate:

To stay on topic: I hope that Kampret Min. and Rec. specs will turn official :)

your system doesn't need OC just twice the RAM and it will run fine at medium with some high options

a 5770 probably will play stable at medium

now mine here's how l expect to play at 30fps

Not really. 2015, if anything, will be the continuation of an initiative that AMD (mostly courtesy of Johan Andersson from DICE) kicked off back in late 2013 with the Mantle API on PC. A few months after that, MS announced DX12, which includes Direct3D 12 which is basically another low-level style API modeled after Mantle, then Apple announced Metal, a low-level API for mobile devices, and then Khronos Group announced OpenGL Next, you guessed it, OpenGL with low-level style API which is heavily based off Mantle.

You're gonna see CPU's that are old as hell running new games just fine, and weaker CPU's as well, because these API's will be properly multi-threaded from the get-go without the bloat, as well as generally giving devs direct access to the hardware itself which allows them to squeeze out the max potential from the user's hardware. I was blown away when I saw a dude with an ancient Core 2 Quad playing BF4 multiplayer on a 60+ man server, and he compared the results he had between Mantle and DX11. His GPU was an HD 7970 or something like that IIRC. With DX11, his average FPS was hovering around the mid-30's and his minimums were bad as well, obviously the frametimes weren't that great. With Mantle, his average framerate was much higher, pegged at 78+ most of the time, with much higher minimum frames and thus a really nice frametime as well. This is because his CPU was no longer the bottleneck at making the necessary draw calls and handling the player positioning, physics, etc.

This not only benefits lower-end hardware but higher-end hardware as well. As I said, in Mantle's case even if you already have some Jesus-tier rig, you get much higher minimum frames than you do with DX11 in every case, across every game that's been tested so far. Even if the average frames between Mantle and DX11 would be similar, the sane person would take the API which gives them higher minimums and smoother, lower frametimes any day of the week. These sorts of API's are also wonderful for mobile machines because they can not only squeeze out more performance, but use less power whilst doing so.

GTA V sadly won't take advantage of this, but the point of my rant is that devs are NOT all aligned with the "upgrade your HW or get left in the dust" mentality as you're claiming. If a dev makes a game that has minimum requirements that only <10% of the market can even meet (super high-end beast enthusiast rigs are an incredibly small niche compared to the vast majority of rigs out there) then their game would flop on PC hardcore because hardly anyone would be able to play it. That's why devs on PC have always been testing across wide ranges of hardware so they can ensure that as many people can play their game as possible.

__

Digression, I also wouldn't use GTA IV as a comparison for what GTA V could possibly require either. Anyone worth their salt knows that GTA IV was one of the worst PC ports in recent times. A large part of it is because it was a port from the 360 version rather than being natively done for the PC itself. Another reason is because of the way the game handles rendering its objects and such, made the game incredibly CPU-bound, moreso than it should've been. And the devs decided it would be quicker and thus cheaper to just port it over to PC as the game was rather than rebuilding every asset from scratch to accompany a new rendering engine.

GTA V doesn't have that problem because the PC version isn't and never was a port. The PC version was done in parallel to the 360/PS3 versions originally. In fact, I'd wager a guess and say that the X1/PS4 versions were actually ported from the PC version, since the consoles are both x86-64 based and are using AMD's current GCN GPU architecture in them. So in general, GTA V's specs are mostly likely gonna be "acceptable" to get decent performance. You won't need an i7-5960x OC'd to 4.6ghz with quad-crossfire 290x's to play it at 1080p and get 60fps, for example, but the game will most likely scale to such specs anyway in case someone wishes to indulge in 4k and beyond gaming at max settings or what have you.

Well, my laptop GPU is roughly equivalent to the Xbox one GPU. I'm gonna say I will be able to get 30fps on medium.
